113 Cae Du is a recently refurbished single-storey, 3-bedroom accommodation in Abersoch with a hot tub. Just a stone's throw from the village centre, it's only a 5-minute stroll from one of the Llyn Peninsula's many beautiful beaches.

Disappointing

We booked for a week in July to celebrate our wedding anniversary and based on the listing for this house, we were really looking forward to it. However once we arrived we were very underwhelmed and disappointed.
Firstly I’ll list the positives. The location and walking distance to the beach and Abersoch are excellent. The beds even though smaller than advertised were comfortable. Oyster holiday cottages were prompt to reply to our problems and tried to help as best they could.
Now to explain the disappointment. When we booked, the main bedroom was listed as having a king size bed, this was not the case when we arrived, my partner is very tall and doesn’t fit in a double bed. At some point it must have had a king size bed as the fitted sheets were all too big for the bed. The en-suite bathroom has no towel ring or toilet roll holder. The wardrobe in the main bedroom is really a storage cupboard with a rail so high even my partner struggled to reach it.
The WiFi was incredibly slow at 1.5 Mbps, (my mobile data was 50 times faster), this is probably due to the Sky router being from 2011 and never being upgraded.
Although the lounge area has been updated the kitchen-diner is very shabby. Next to the dining table there is wallpaper hanging off the wall and two of the aging floor tiles are badly cracked and pieces missing, these have very sharp edges and are dangerous.
The lounge hadn’t been cleaned properly when we arrived, and there was long dog hair on the sofas, and under them was hair and dust, the same in the single bedroom.
The jacuzzi was not very clean and had sand in the bottom and churned up scum when we used it. It also smelled of mildew when we took the lid off so we were reluctant to use it.
The TV is limited to on-demand apps only, so you can’t just watch normal TV and flick between channels, you have to go into iPlayer and ITVX etc to watch live TV which is very frustrating.
The hedges in the back garden aren’t totally secure as our little dog managed to get into next doors garden briefly.
There were 34 wine glasses in the kitchen but not one glass bigger than 125mls to drink a beer or water out of. OHC did provide us with some when we asked. The garage at the back of the house is available to store beach equipment but was mainly full of more wine glasses on the floor.
I wish the owner could live there for a week and see how fabulous it could be with a little more care and attention.

We really enjoyed our stay. The house is in a great location for the beach/village and it has a great outdoor space at the front and back of the property. The only things to mention are that we had to hoover on arrival and we had to buy basics (salt, pepper, oil, washing up liquid and sponges, sugar, dishwasher tablets and more toilet roll) as these were not available.

Perfect location for a 3 night stay in Abersoch. Only a few minutes walk in to the centre and to the beach.

Great value for money.

Check in and check out was well managed by the agents.

The property is located in a very convenient location. It’s only a 2-minute walk to the local Spar shop & less than 10 minutes to the centre of the village & the beach.

The bungalow seems to have had improvements including bi-fold doors to the rear garden, which gives it a very pleasant outlook on a sunny day. They also have a really nice front patio that captures the morning sun.

The wall heaters were great, warming the place nicely in the early evening, however the main shower room was particularly cold as it was only heated by an electric towel rail.

The smart TV & Wi-Fi worked well, and the kitchen has been improved by the installation of an inductive hob & double oven.

Overall, this is a nice cozy residence & I would definitely stay there again.

This is the third time we have stayed at 113 Cae Du. We really love the property.

The bungalow is in an excellent location to access Abersoch and the beaches, with the Spar shop a short stroll away.

The back garden has been made dog friendly since we last stayed here, with a secure fence, which is a big plus. The new furniture on the front deck will be great when the weather allows.

The dining area is spacious now the wall cupboards have been removed. However, there is now enough glassware in the kitchen cupboards to cater for a party. Perhaps some could be stored away in the garage to create cupboard space. The hot tub cleaning solution also smells strongly of chlorine. I think the storage needs thinking about.

The bungalow is light and warm. The electric radiators are very efficient. We did visit in December though and the bungalow gets cold quickly. The duvets are summer weight. We took blankets with us and were glad we had. The beds are very comfy but we did get cold.

The main bedroom having an en-suite in beneficial, however it is lacking a toilet roll holder, towel ring/rail and the wardrobe rail is not made for short people.

The main bathroom is clean and functional but in the winter stays cold and damp so this needs looking at.

The lounge is cosy with two comfy sofas, a lovely electric fire, and a brilliant TV.

We will have no hesitation in booking to stay here again. Any points made are to bring a fantastic property up to 5 stars.
