Garden Cottage occupies the upper level of a traditional Westmorland bank barn, offering high quality accommodation for up to 6 guests. A calming haven for those looking to escape in nature.

One of the best.

Lovely cottage in a peaceful setting, in a picturesque little conclave of old farm buildings. Perfectly quiet and relaxing.
The owners left an amazing welcome pack, and all fuel for the stove for the duration of our stay - and gave us a warm personal welcome. The beds were extremely comfortable.
Luggage trips up and down the steps weren't really a problem - good way to keep fit. But would definitely bring less next time!
In all, we had such a lovely stay. We've been coming to the Lake District for 13 years, staying in a different place each time; this was by far our happiest stay.

The cottage is in a great location, very peaceful and rural, but only 15 mins from Kendal and Windermere. It's a perfect base for walking the Eastern fells. It was really comfy and well equipped, with some great little touches, like fresh bread, bacon and milk waiting for us. Plus deer and badgers in the grounds, which was a bonus! Would highly recommend.

Great stay at Garden Cottage, a lovely place to get away from it all but with Kendall and Windermere both within easy access.
Food provided by owners was a nice extra and the log burner proved a welcome feature on some cold, damp February nights.
Well equipped and comfortable, with lovely views across the valley. Good fun playing spot the frog in the pond or stoat in the dry stone wall.
Would definitely book again.

Garden cottage was newly refurbished in May to a high standard. It was spotlessly clean and extremely well equipped. The owners were very welcoming, friendly and a great source of local information. We were provided with the most amazing welcome pack on arrival. The location, accessed via a long single track road, was stunning for a quiet get away. We had an amazing week.
Ross from Tarn and Fell Escapes was fantastic, checking in with us beforehand and providing detailed answers to our questions about places to eat and drink in the local area.Ross is the most helpful agent we have ever encountered.

Garden Cottage is an unbelievably beautiful cottage, situated in a very picturesque, quiet and tranquil place in Burneside. The property is very spacious and is equipped with everything that you need, including a laundry room. Washing tablets are provided too which is helpful. The master bedroom has a lovely big and comfortable bed with luxurious linen. This bedroom also has a great ensuite with a modern and quirky shower. The dining area is superb and the kitchen is modern with excellent appliances including an air fryer which was easy to use. The lounge is bright, warm and inviting and leads up to a second bedroom.

The internet is provided and a handy information
folder put together so diligently by the owners is a ‘must read’ - the area is so vast and so this information is really helpful.

The cottage is tastefully decorated and you really do feel at home here. The location is fabulous and very close to Windermere, Ambleside and Grasmere - a few ‘must see’ locations. The property is situated close to all local amenities and the pretty town of Kendal will provide you with a range of shops and supermarkets. The owners of this stunning and breathtaking estate are very friendly and made us feel extremely welcome from the moment we arrived. They provided a really thoughtful welcome pack that included food and drink to get us started for the week. The owners are extremely passionate about the Lake District and are keen for their guests to thoroughly enjoy their visit and get the most out of their stay. They will happily provide you with helpful tips regarding the best places to visit - you need only ask!

Lastly, we booked our stay through a company called Tarn and Fell Escapes and Ross (the Company Director) was absolutely amazing. He was so helpful and very quick and efficient to respond to any query that we had. Ross kindly went out of his way to provide us with excellent recommendations of some of the best pubs, cafes, restaurants and places to visit in the local area. We cannot recommend this company enough and we feel so lucky and privileged to have come across Tarn and Fell Escapes. There is absolutely no question that as and when we return to the Lake District, Tarn and Fell Escapes will be the only company we will book with. If you have come across this beautiful hidden gem, do
not hesitate to book it! We promise that you will not be disappointed.
