We enjoyed our stay overall in a well located cottage. There had been an issue with the fridge which we were advised about in advance (it was fixed just before we arrived) We were told that we could access the house slightly earlier than advised on booking which was a nice bonus.

There are some observations though.

We had a three year old in our party and upon arrival, there was a bottle of bleach within easy reach in the downstairs toilet which wasn’t securely closed.

The kitchen table was very sticky and needed a good scrub before it could be used.

There were two pairs of scissors in the cutlery drawer. Both were broken. There was a sieve/strainer which was rusty and not fit for purpose. We bought a new pair of scissors and a new strainer and left them in the drawer for you.

The crockery and pans and some of the utensils could do with replacing.

The welcome boxes seem stingy. One dishwasher tablet for a stay of four nights?
One toilet roll per bathroom for a four night stay is again, somewhat stingy.

There was a used poo bag outside the doors to the patio. This was definitely from previous tenants as we didn’t have a dog.

Finally, your communications don’t agree with each other. The email says 11am checkout, the text says 10am. We felt that there were TOO MANY communications overall which felt somewhat dictatorial.

With a few needed updates and more sympathetic communication, we’d have given this house 5’s.

Thank you.

Thank you for your review and taking the time to feedback on the minor issues and the fact we managed to facilitate you a personalised early check in free of charge. In terms of the minor issues: The cutlery and utensils - we note you didnt let us know of these and we do say in our comms that you can report all minor issues - we have stock on site and would have had these to you within 10 minutes of your letting us know - its hard to replace things after you leave and we would have willingly dropped these off. The previous guests left the dog bag and the bleach - we dont routinely put bleach in bathrooms and apologise on their behalf and have taken both issues up with them. We clearly state in the welcome info that we provide a starter pack of things for your "self catering" holiday - hundreds of guests really appreciate this and we get great feedback about the things we leave for guests - sorry if this didnt meet your expectations of a self catering holiday. The emails and communications - we apologise but the app and text messages all say 10am? Finally on the subject of communication we get amazing feedback about our comms and we do say you should read all the comms before arriving - we note from our system you have said the comms were too much but our logs show you didn't access these which is strange - we would have responded to all communications and we clearly state you can at any time unsubscribe from these which you chose not to do? We are sorry if you found these too much but you did have the option to unsubscribe, read all the info and avoid being disappointed with the starter pack and ask us to drop anything off for you that you needed. If you do stay with us again (and we hope you do) please do access and read all the information and contact us during your stay and if you wish to unsubscribe from the communications so you dont feel overwhelmed.

Very enjoyable stay

Very well equipped property . We had difficulty using the oven the first time but once we had read the manual it was more straightforward. The fridge was a good size for the food we had brought along with us.
The lounge was very spacious and comfortable seating. Large tv for catching up with the England ladies matches. There was plenty of crockery and cutlery in the kitchen as well as an air fryer and Tassimo coffee machine.

Bedrooms good size .Beds really comfortable with quality bedding. En-suite in front bedroom useful so no queues for the bathroom. Downstairs loo saved going upstairs if you were sitting out on the patio outside.

On arrival it was very clean and welcoming.

We have stayed at the Bay five times now and took advantage of the swimming pool virtually every day. We did eat at The John Paul Jones pub a few times ,found the meals reasonably priced and very tasty. The drinks prices were more than we expected.
The beach is lovely and flat, enjoyed by humans and dogs alike. The beach cafe has the best custard tart I’ve ever tasted and the portion size huge and excellent value.

Top marks for Sandy Paws and The Bay this time we thoroughly enjoyed it.
