Who cares about a little traffic noise when you have views like this. Every day we sat in what we called ‘the garden room’ and just enjoyed the view over to the Cairngorms. Just fabulous! Oh - and the house is extremely well equipped and very comfortable! What’s not to like! We have booked another stay later in the year! Highly recommend!

Just spent a very relaxing week at Reindeer House.

The property is well equipped, clean and very comfortable with a covered hot tub on the decking but the best thing for us was the location.

The property sits in an elevated position on the hillside overlooking the river Spey to the hills beyond giving gorgeous views from the decking. Extensive grounds drop down to the road and the Speyside Steam Railway (mature trees blocked the view of the trains but you can hear them chuff past at around 1:55 and see the steam).

Sitting on the decking watching the abundant wild birds while sipping a drink is really relaxing but even better when you are regularly visited by red squirrels running along the railing.


Most enjoyable and we won’t hesitate to return, thoroughly recommended.

The house has a great location overlooking the valley and however it is close to the main road there is no noise inside the house or bedrooms. Close to a lot of sight seeing activities, the steam train can even be seen passing by!
A lot of luxury with the hot tub, dishwasher, washing machine and fire place. Lots of games and we even played some games on the Wii. Enough glasses, plates and cutlery and towels for the whole family.
Staying there was a splendid experience and our kids want to go back asap :)

Had a lovely stay at reindeer house. Very spacious, comfortable beds, big sofa and well equipped kitchen. Hot tub was wonderful after a day out on the hills. House just off busy road so some traffic noise when outside, but house well insulated and quiet.

This is our second stay at Reindeer house and again we had a great holiday. The wood burning stove and hot tub are great to come back to after a day out walking in the hills. It’s great for anyone with dogs as you are straight into the woods and the property has an enclosed garden. The bird feeders attract a wide range of birds and red squirrels and the views across to the Cairngorms are great. The house is warm, comfortable and well equipped. I would definitely recommend Reindeer house

Really happy overall with this house. It was very cold on arrival and although the heaters said they should come on at 6, they didn’t and the “advance” function didn’t work.
We lit a fire and used the hot tub! One the heating came on the house was cosy.
The sofa is not ideal for a group of 6 individuals.

My family and I recently stayed at Reindeer House, and it was fantastic! The views are absolutely stunning, with beautiful panoramic views of the Cairngorm mountain range.

There are many feeders around the property so was great to watch the birds and red squirrels; they added a fun touch to the experience. The woodland trails which are accessible from the property were also a highlight!

The kitchen was well-equipped, making it easy to cook and enjoy meals while soaking in those incredible views. And the beds were really comfy— we slept so well after all our adventures. The hot tub was a great extra to have, we were very thankful to have this after long days of exploring!

Booking through Great North Lodges for the first time with this trip and I can honestly say their customer service and communication is the best!

Overall, Reindeer House is a perfect spot to relax and enjoy nature. Highly recommend it for anyone looking to escape!

Lovely comfortable, well equiped cottage. This really was a home from home. Cleaned to a high standard - perfect.

We are a family of 4, including two boys (9 and 13). We had ample room to relax and enjoy down time when not out exploring the area.

The beds are all really comfy with plenty of storage in the bedrooms too. Kitchen was really well equipped with everything you'd need.

There is a draw full of walking books, leaflets and maps which came in really useful as well as books on the area and things to do. There is a cupboard full of games and some reading books too. All these little things made our stay even better.

The hot tub topped it off and we made full use of this when we got back after days out.

There is so much wildlife to see with squirrel and bird feeders surrounding the house, encoraging it all into the garden. We saw a red squirrel within 15 mins of being in the cottage and even saw a great spotted woodpecker using the bird feeders.

We'd definitely return here if coming to the area again.

We absolutely loved our stay at Reindeer House. The location was perfect for accessing the amenities in the surrounding areas. The house itself was lovely. The views were magnificent and the garden was full of birds and red squirrels. The large and clean hot tub was a lovely way to end the day. The kids also enjoyed the wide selection of games and puzzles available. The road at the end of the garden didn’t bother us at all. We’d definitely book again. The view from this property towards Cairngorm is absolutely stunning and is what attracted me to booking it in the first place. It’s a modern, well equipped property with plenty of bird life and red squirrels in the garden. We stayed during an exceptionally cold spell in June and actually needed the heating on which kept the place warm and cosy. Lovely having the steam railway going past the bottom of the garden and having the hot tub to relax in after a long walk. Convenient to Nethybridge for a couple of shops and lovely cafe and only 8 mins drive to Grantown-On-Spey for a takeaway so ideally situated

Reindeer House is in a great location, lovely views from the ‘sunroom’ nice to sit there and have breakfast etc with the lovely view. Well equipped kitchen. Bedrooms are a good size and bed comfy enough, new pillows would be nice as they are rather flat. Would be a good idea to have some up to date photos of the property as the ones on the website are different to what is actually outside. Different garden furniture, the decking needs some work done to it,and a wee general tidy up of the garden would make a difference, bushes trimmed etc. Not a criticism just a wee general note. Would return to this property in the future.

We had a nice stay in this house however the photos of the property we felt were deceptive. There is a very large and noisy main road right at the bottom of the garden between the property and the beautiful view. The photos do not show this as they are angled specifically to avoid it however its the first thing you will notice if you had expected a secluded retreat. The hot tub is nice but watching and listening to traffic go by was just not pleasant for us and we were very disappointed.

Reindeer house a a comfortable, well equipped house, with everything required for a relaxed stay in the Cairngorms. The view of the surrounding mountains is amazing, especially from the sun room and the luxurious hot tub. There is constant entertainment from the visiting wildlife which is a great feature due to the owners providing numerous feedings stations for birds and red squirrels. It would be easy just to stay in the house but the surrounding areas are really worth exploring. There are numerous interesting low level walks as well as mountains to climb, wildlife reserves, lakes and rivers to kayak on, plenty of restaurants and tea shops and the coast is within easy reach as well as numerous places of historic interest. If the weather is poor, a trip into Inverness is also worthwhile. We have stayed here twice and have just booked our 3rd stay, which says it all.

This is the eighth time we have used Great North Lodges. We have never been dissapointed yet.
Reindeer house is a hidden treasure. More roomy than the photos make it out to be, and perfect for long or short walks from the property.
We where blessed with great weather and the Northern Lights.
The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need, and all in good condition.
The hottub was great addition.
The house has a fantastic garden to watch lots of wildlife in.

We had a fantastic stay at Reindeer House, the house itself was spotless and had everything you could possibly think of. The hot tub was an excellent addition and very welcome after a day exploring the nearby attractions.

The garden was brimming with wildlife thanks to the well stocked bird feeders, and the red squirrels were a joy to watch each morning over breakfast.

All in all a fab week, we will definitely be back.

Booked for a week based on reviews and photos. Was not disappointed. The house itself is lovely and the location is easy to find, between Grantown on Spey and Aviemore. The garden and the view from the rear of the house is breathtaking. We saw loads of red squirrels and different types of birds. The hot tub is a nice addition and excellent quality - the best one we’ve had. The house itself is clean as a whistle and well maintained. It’s spacious and comfortable. We particularly enjoyed the walk from the house through the woods to the little garden centre with a great cafe. All in all a great family holiday and we would definitely stay there again.

Stayed here a few times. Love the location and the hot tub is great after a day out. If you are into bird watching, this is the house for you. Lots of red squirrels too. I needed some help while staying there and the assistance was first class. There is WiFi but no smart tv.

We had a great stay in this very well equipped, comfortable and cosy cottage. The view is spectacular, especially when it snowed. There was an abundance of wildlife in the garden as the owner feeds the birds (and red squirrels-very entertaining) which ensured there was always plenty to see. We particularly enjoyed the covered hot tub, really useful for the snowy/wet days. There are plenty of walks nearby and lots to do, the Cairngorms is a great place to visit. The only negative was the close proximity to the A95 which meant quite a lot of traffic noise and the BBQ hut being out of action. But the road did not deter the wildlife and we enjoyed watching it so much that we have already booked again.

We had a fantastic 2 weeks stay at Reindeer House with some lovely cold and snowy weather to make it extra special. The property was lovely - spotlessly clean and well equipped and in a great location with amazing views across to the Cairngorms. Christmas decorations had been put up which was a really nice touch and communication with Great North Lodges from initial booking to departure was excellent. Highly recommended.

I have used Great North Lodges to book my staycations over the years and have never been disappointed. Their website is easy to use with a good range of luxury properties. Enquiries are dealt with quickly and on one occasion helped in returning an item that i had left behind.
Reindeer house is in a fantastic location for exploring the Cairngorms national park and surrounding areas. It is fully equipped with everything you need and the views from the hot tub are outstanding, especially after a day of walking/exploring. It is close to Granton-on-Spey and Aviemore for stocking up with the fridge and dining out. Lots of wildlife is attracted to the bird and squirrel feeders and look out for badgers and pine marten crossing the decking! Great walks from the doorstep and a good excuse to visit the Speyside Center for breakfast, lunch or coffee and cake.
