We had a special week at Drum Cottage. It is located remotely in a truly magical setting. The cottage was spotlessly clean on our arrival, beds are super comfy with crisp fresh linens, and fluffy towels. We saw red squirrels, buzzards, a red kite, and lots of birds in the garden. When we had a small issue, the housekeeper was very prompt to respond and it was resolved quickly which was excellent. I’d highly recommend a stay here, beautiful cottage, glorious setting with incredible views.
Fantastic property and fantastic location, great wildlife, great bike rides and loved eating at Andersons. Added bonus, saw a scottish wildcat. Our 2nd stay here, we also love Mallard. The only thing to mention, is there was no pen to sign the guestbook, we couldnt fill it in last time either. We would recommend a couple of sunloungers or comfy seats for the garden - just for when the weathers great and you want to read in a compfy spot outside. Will definately be back, its one of our favourites.
We all had a terrific time at Muckrach house as it is such a wonderful place. Decoration is fantastic, facilities outstanding and the beds were super comfortable. There were 6 children with us and they didn’t want to leave. All in all, we thoroughly the house.
Beautiful house and gardens. Great stay with friends. Well equipped, everyone welcoming and peaceful location. Easy communication with the host. Any queries we had were kindly accommodated. Nice to be able to bring our dog to stay. The weather was wet when we were there so the boot room/porch was appreciated. That said we did find many feet make a mess in the kitchen easily. Comfortable beds and cosy property. Sorry - we set the fire alarm off when cooking but great to see people cared and came to look out for us!
We really enjoyed our stay at Mallard, 3 generations and a dog. The location is quiet and gives fantastic access to wonderful walks straight from the door. The garden is large and fully enclosed so great for families with dogs and young children, we saw a red squirrel and our Grandson was delighted to see the pine marten which visited most evenings about 9 pm. We had a lovely stay with my family and dog. The house is spacious and has everything you need and the views over the golf course are fantastic. Also lovely walks nearby for our dog. The only little issue is some of the decking boards need some attention. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this property.
This property was more than we could ever of imagined. It had everything we needed for our long weekend - and more! It was very well equipped with cooking utensils, crockery, the lot. It was clean, spacious and had so many little quirky areas outside that just made it feel really homely. My kids loved the garden area and climbing frame. We loved the hot tub and outdoor seating areas. We have no complaints. There were tears when we had to go home. Thank you so much!
This house exceeded all expectations. It has so much space, character and charm. We recently stayed for a multi-generational family gathering, and this house was perfect for all. Peaceful places to sit, large kitchen and dining areas for meals, snugs and playroom upstairs for the kids, and huge green space to run around outside, surrounded by the rolling hills and nearby river. Everything was clean and well maintained. Decent value for money when calculating price per person per night.
Writing to say thank you. We had 15 adults and 16 kids (ages 3 to 10) and found Gulabin Lodge an excellent experience to have such a gathering. The house and grounds provide ample space for games for the children. The kitchen was well stocked. The firepit was a hit and captivated everyone. We were in easy reach of local walks. Nothing was a problem for Helen and Tim and they created a relaxed atmosphere for us to have a wonderful weekend.
Great location and perfect place to stay in the Highlands. Spotlessly clean and perfectly decorated. We loved it and can’t wait to come back.
Wow, what can I say! We were transported to a magical place from the beginning. You felt like you where in the middle of nowhere surrounded by the forest but in reality less than 20 minutes to shops and other amenities. The house provided everything we needed. The hot tub was just fantasic, from viewing the stars at night to believe it or not cooling us down from the heat of the day. Loved it so much we've booked for next year already!
If you like solitude this is a great choice. Very clean and comfortable. The bedrooms are tight due to ceiling height so be prepared to watch your head. As an older couple we did struggle with the TV as we couldn’t get live TV, No instructions anywhere. We are app savvy but found it very frustrating , I think someone had messed about with it maybe should be checked after guests depart. Would I stay there again Yes
A lovely house with great outside garden and balconies. Comfortable beds and bathrooms. But living room and kitchen are very tight for 6 adults, particularly if weather is poor. Kitchen well equipped but for too small for 6 adults to sit around.
Wir hatten eine wunderbare Woche im Glenfeshie House. Wir waren eine Gruppe von 9 Personen, es war toll mit den vielen Zimmern und Badezimmern. War immer warm Wasser da und genug Holz für den Ofen in der Stube. Ein unvergessliches Erlebniss so mitten in der Natur Ferien zu machen.
We enjoyed our stay very much - a lovely house in a lovely location. The log fire was wonderful when coming back on a chilly evening. We also appreciated the hot tub, plus the lovely seating areas in the garden. When we needed the bathroom sink plug to be fixed it was dealt with very swiftly by friendly maintenance staff. Some small points: Some clear signage directing to the property would be helpful, and the access was a wee bit challenging for the member of our party with mobility issues. We had a magnificent stay at Forest Trail Lodge from 18/5/26 - 25/5/26. The lodge was immaculate on arrival and everything perfect for ourselves my son and daghter-in-law and 18 month old grandson. I could not fault anything from the design of the lodge,the comfort of the beds and couches,and the range of kitchen crockery and utensils. The range of wild birds and a red squirrel delighted us all especially grandson Liam and I would recommend getting a bag of wild birdfood early in the stay to get as much benefit as possible. All in all a great week and we hope to return next year.
Had a fantastic holiday. Surprise visit and stay from my son and girlfriend who have been away in Australia. Couldn't ask for more. Setting and accommodation brilliant. Had everything we needed. Only comment to make was when kiddies stayed for a couple nights bunk beds not suitable. Mattresses dont fit properly and kids fell down sides. Other issue we had was dishwasher wasn't cleaning dishes properly so ended up hand washing Hand blender made a smell when burning but see its due to be tested. Would definitely be back for another visit. We all loved it so much.
Only issue was that some of the showers were very poor. Some guests had almost no water pressure and others ran warm and cold.
We stayed at Smithy Croft for 7 nights and it was nothing short of amazing! There was 7 adults and 5 kids (from 2 - 7 years old) The lodge set a very high standard from the get go, with a lovely well kept garden and a very spacious drive way, we had 5 cars with us & room for 2 more which you don’t find very often! Pine Ridge Lodge was just perfect for our needs. Beautiful and comfortable spaces inside and spoilt for choice for sitting out.
This is our second year staying at Balvattan Farmhouse, once again we were not let down, From the booing to the ore departure. I had to call the maintenance team fir an issue that came, the response was very quick and very professional. 5 In our party there's 10 of us, everyone loved the Farmhouse, so much room and everything was to hand, everything you want it is a case of tune up with your suitcase and food, We have no negatives to report back and we will be booking for next year this morning. We love Glenmore so we knew the location of this property was excellent. The property is spacious and well equipped and was perfect for our group of 7 adults and 1 toddler. Garden, sauna hot tub were fantastic.
Well situated house for all amenities,garden was not suitable for small children.House needed a deep clean and redecorated in some areas.
We have just returned from a week stay at Feshiebridge Cottage, the cottage itself was lovely and a fantastic location which was remote enough for peace and quiet but close enough to local towns for provisions and eating out. Lovely walks and cycle paths right on the doorstep. We did have to contact the management company regarding emptying the recycling bins which were overflowing when we arrived. I phoned and left a voice message but still not received a reply a week later, the bins are fuller now. We recently enjoyed a week-long stay at Bennachie in Aviemore to celebrate a special birthday. Our party consisted of four adults and two dogs, and the property proved to be an excellent base for exploring the Cairngorm Mountains and local attractions. Location good everything in walking distance. Hot tub was lovely and big bonus. Nice and clean place, quiet area. But a bit disappointed, no welcome fire wood/starting kindling. No slippers and only 4 robes. No dishwasher tablets. Outside bins full. Both toilet seats need tightening up. I would expect for £1200 it to be spot on, so think it’s a bit over priced. We still had a good holiday.

We had a great stay and found the hot tub to be one of the best we have experienced. Loved the birds and squirrels and the walks directly from the door. Couple of minor things that need addressed as part of any upgrade plan, 1. A sign from the main road would be helpful 2. Some of the pans don’t work on the induction hob 3. The sofa needs replaced
We have been coming here every year since 2022. The cottage itself is an old ticket office and is situated next to the old platform of Nethy Bridge station. Plenty of walks from the door, the beautiful Abernethy forest is a few steps away and it's a convenient base for exploring the Cairngorms. The cottage itself is comfortable, clean and well equipped and for those with dogs the large garden is well maintained and very secure (not just dog proof but husky proof!). Very nice and comfortable cottage on a nice location. A perfect place to explore the Cairncorms. Its a very good place to calm down from busy working life. The hottub is so relaxing. Unfortenately the bridge on the road is closed so you can only reach the cottage from Carrbridge.
Fantastic lodge in an amazing location. Would highly recommend it for a magical escape to the Highlands. Great place to chill out and relax but also close to some great attractions for the whole family. There was an awning over the decking which was not available for guests to use. It would be good to be able to use this or at least have a large parasol on the decking to be able to enjoy the outdoor space in all weathers. Also on the morning of checkout which was by 10 am. I am writing to formally raise a complaint regarding our recent stay at The Neuk (Great North Lodges) from Friday 15th to Monday 18th May 2026. Our party of five, along with two dogs, had been looking forward to this break; however, the condition of the property and the number of issues encountered fell significantly below the standard advertised and expected for the price paid. Beautiful log cabin with great living space and log burner, and location down a track in it's own woodland over looking the River Spey. Loved it, will look forward to staying again.
Five minutes' walk from Aviemore Station and with the river Spey immediately beyond the back garden, Spey Cottage proved perfect for our stay. Good social spaces for seven people to gather, comfortable bedrooms and the garden for when people wanted to be on their own. Very well-appointed kitchen, nice bathrooms with plenty of hot water, bedlinen and towels were excellent quality. Lovely east-facing decked area at the back. Apart from the occasional train pulling into the station, very quiet. Would definitely book again.
We booked our stay as a treat for our honeymoon with our two young kids. Unfortunately due to a storm we were left with no electricity. While we understand that this is out with the control of the owners the running water is pumped by an electric pump and it meant that for the first nearly 24 hours we had no running water as well as electricity and as had to vacate the property for an entire day. When we reached out regarding this we feel we have been let down with no adequate resolution and ourselves out of pocket. As a result we would not recommend this property
5 of us stayed at Bracken House at the start of June for a hiking break, the house was excellent and plenty of room for the 5 of us location was quiet but still only a 15-20min walk into town, we only used the hot tub once but it was a great way to sooth the aches and pains after long hikes in the cairngorms. we were lucky enough to spot a Red Deer in the woods above the house while relaxing in the tub. We had a wonderful break and are hoping to all return.Yes,it is "dated" but doesn't detract from it's charm.My grandson loved the space and being all on one level to work on his walking! Ideal property to explore an area that we all love. I agree with an earlier review that it would benefit from one of the twins becoming a double and also from blackout curtains in rooms with single beds where early rising children might be,especially in Summer! but otherwise we all had a great stay.
Excellent location near to Aviemore amenities. This was our 2nd visit and would recommend as a base to explore the area.
We had an amazing 3 night stay at Blackgrouse lodge. The house is stunning and the lodge has a very homely feel to it and everything has been thought through. The hot tub was lovely and the views of the cairngorms is stunning. The lodge was very clean upon arrival minus the pull out bed in the bedroom for 4. All other bedrooms ans bathrooms are very modern and of high quality. Any issues we had were dealt with quickly. From start to finish we had a wonderful time. The lodge was homely and comfy with everything needed for a comfortable stay. Great location.
Website looked impressive. Outside the decking, hot tub etc looked good but inside it looked tired. Old furniture, tiny bunk beds and very little space. Four adults could not have eaten at that table. I’ve never seen such a tiny television before. A cupboard to hang up things had a high chair, baby cot and ironing board in it. Tiniest of kitchens with nowhere to put dry foods. Good sauna and bathroom but towels a bit dated too. Parking was very tight, very difficult to reverse out.
Nice lodge but we had some issues with hot water, and one of the beds had a mattress that smelled really bad. Cleanliness was okay but lots of dust under the beds. Hopefully a one-off as we have rented cottages with Great North Lodges before without any issue.
Stayed in other Great North Lodges but was a wee bit disappointed with this one unfortunately. Lock on main bathroom was broken, shower in en suite was broken. Couldn't use the hot tub due to location of tub next to hedge where birds were nesting. We did have a good holiday though, and the lodge was comfortable.
