A secluded corner of countryside

Herdwick Cabin with its private corner location within our ancient Brow Wood offers panoramic views of the fells surrounding Ullswater.

Clad using locally sourced Larch, this L-shaped cabin with wheelchair access offers open-plan living space with large windows that allow for the outside indoors. The bespoke-built cabin is clad using locally sourced larch with an L-shape floor plan that offers a cosy open-plan living space with panoramic views.

Modern interiors, carefully chosen by Kate, include blue and pink tones to create a soft, tranquil look that provides a calming space to relax and restore within the Lake District countryside.

The living space features a dining area, a cosy soft blue sofa with deep-filled cushions, a fully-equipped salmon pink kitchen complete with Joseph Joseph accessories, a boiling water tap and Portmeirion crockery.

The super-king bedroom comes with a built-in wardrobe, warm wool duvet, Egyptian cotton sheets and a floor-to-ceiling glazed door that leads out onto the private decked area.

The eco-friendly cabin is powered by solar panels with underfloor heating and insulation up to the highest of standards to ensure a warm and toasty stay during the colder months. The cabin combines the convenience of modern amenities with the chance to unwind in nature.

Outside the cabin, a private decked area is the perfect space to take in the view with a morning coffee or evening glass of wine and the wood-fired hot tub is perfect for warming up after a day out on the fells.

Herdwick Cabin sleeps two adults and is perfect for a cosy couple’s getaway or Lake District adventure weekend and is dog-friendly.

Well this is our second time at Hutton John Estate & this time we stayed in the new Herdwick lodge. What a fabulous time we had & loved all the little touches from the fantastic welcome basket to the pink kitchen! We made good use of the hot tub yet again & were awestruck by the beautiful, secluded yet great base for exploring the lakes. Just about to book again

It’s especially nice when a guest who has been before takes the time to write a review. It makes us feel we must be doing something right! Im so pleased you loved the pink kitchen because not everyone was convinced it was a good idea (my husband for one!). We look forward to welcoming you back. All the best, Kate and the team.

Lovely break

Myself and my partner stayed in Herdwick Cabin for 2 nights to celebrate his 30th birthday. The cabin itself is lovely, really nicely decorated, clean and has everything you would need and even though there is 4 cabins it feels quite private which is nice. The bed was really comfy and even though it is very close to the A66 we felt it was really quiet and peaceful. You also get a lovely little hamper with Prosecco, fudge and biscuits which is nice.

The hot tub is lovely, you are provided with a starter pack of logs and kindling, but there was only 3 bits of kindling when we arrived meaning that even after going to the local garage to buy more, it didn’t get up to temperature in time on our first night which was a shame. We have been to other places that have the hot tubs pre heated for arrival which is a nice touch.

Unfortunately during our stay we had a power cut which meant when we woke up on our first morning, we had no electric at all which was a bit of a nightmare, but we sent Kate an email at 7am and we went off walking and called to Greggs up the road for breakfast. Kate did respond at around 11am to say that the electric was back on, but didn’t offer any explanation or any kind of apology, even if it was a power cut and couldn’t be helped, I feel like it was a poor response.

Overall though we had a lovely weekend, hot tub was amazing when we got it going and there are loads of walks nearby which was perfect for us.

Hello Megan, Thank you for leaving your feedback and we are glad you had a lovely break. The electricity was back on well before I emailed you. I was informed by a guest by phone the electricity was off just before 9.00am and it was back on by 9.20am. It’s disappointing when guests complain after they leave. We always try to respond to guests as soon as possible. If you’d phoned rather than emailed, I could have responded then. After getting the electricity back on, I had to phone the solar panel company and return to do some checks on the system. I got to your email as soon as I could. Emails are not a priority when there’s something urgent to be seen to. Dad always leaves a handful of kindling, if you needed a few more, I could have brought you some. Again, if you’d let me know I could have helped at the time. All the best, Kate.

Easily accessible, beautifully scenic stay in the Lakes!

The cabin we stayed in was gorgeous and had everything you needed and more!
Bed was super comfy, and the underfloor heating kept the cabin cosy despite the stormy wet weather!
Also the hot tub was lovely and although it took a while to heat it was so worth it!
The land surrounding the cabins is very well kept and there are plenty of stunning walks nearby along with good pubs and very easy access to the A66!
