Stayed for 4 nights to attend a friends wedding at the Abbey, everything was perfect, well located and everything you could need amenity wise, short walk to the pubs/cafes on the lochside and would recommend The Lock Inn for food and drinks.
Beautiful place , excellent location , boathouse restaurant amazing food , stunning views , loved it
This place is beautiful. It was late September so our outdoor time was limited. Even with that we enjoyed the fresh air and lovely views of Lock Ness and the surrounding area. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat.
Hard to describe how fantastic this place actually is. I loved every single thing about it and can't wait to return
Everything was perfect. Accomodation very suitable for disabled and clean. Concierge was very helpful and facilities were great.
My family of 4 had the most wonderful time staying at Gruinyards in the Highland Club in July. The apartment was well outfitted and the property and surrounding town are truly wonderful. We were blown away by the gorgeous scenery surrounding us. So thankful for a wonderful holiday in Scotland; we can't wait to come back!
Arriving at the gates our jaws dropped. "Is this really where we are staying?" When we were shown around the historic stone work and large walk ways it was all too much to take in. Then we entered our apartment in the Chapter House and it too was breathtaking. The bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen and lounge areas were modern and had everything that you need. It was a perfect base for exploring the surrounding rugged but beautiful countryside. In the evening you sit by the Loch with a glass of wine, sharing yourself with the midgies. A place to definitely recommend and return to on a future...more
The Abbey Chapel apartment has amazing architecture and beautiful stained glass windows. Truly a lovely place to stay.
Really recommend to family with children. Very comfortable two bedroom flat with great facility and views!
Perfect location. The abbey looks beautiful and the location on the loch ness is amazing. In term of flat, everything was there to make you feel at home with all equipments. Also salt, pepper, oil were available which makes cooking easy when there for only few days. A lot of activities, games are available on the location. You can easily find ways to spend your time at the abbey and the park!
I can only say that we were more than surprised by the location and the apartment we had the pleasure to stay. There is not much more to say as that I can only recommend this location.
Just as the others explained: superb stay at an excellent location. The amenities are good and the staff was super. Meanwhile if you can improve a little on the heating. :) Looking forward to come back again.
Great apartment and great location. The building is interesting with good facilities and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We look forward to returning.
Nicely decotated and well equiped appartement in a wonderfull arrangement of historical and mondern buildings within a park full of stunning trees and beautyful views of loch and surrounding hills. Fort Augustus is a busy little village and the Caledonian canal a major attraction.
Thank you for letting us stay in such an amazing building, the apartment was stunning and so big. Everything you could need was thought about and provided. The area was small but perfectly formed with gift shops, pubs and a little shop. We had a totally relaxing time.
Beautiful place in a beautiful setting. A short walk from all the amenaties. Fort Augustus is a must visit. Our cottage was lovely and very clean. I downgraded slightly on condition as in a few areas inside the paint was coming away from walls. Also it stated it had a wii console, but we could not find it and it stated it had a tv in the bedroom which it did but it had no aerial so could only watch dvd's. would definitely visit again and would recommend highland club to everyone.
This apartment is really special, because it used to be near the ceiling of the old Abbey church and involves the upper parts of the church windows, which are round and parts of the ceiling are also round. It even seems bigger and nicer than on the photos. It is decorated very beautifully and very well equipped. The park is wonderful and leads directly to the lake.
I am a 64 year old gran and stayed with my 8 year old grandson in Scriptorium 2 for 1 week in August 2017. We were bowled over by the Highland Club history, facilities and location. Loved the Scriptorium with the character and quirky layout. My grandson thought the lounge was the best and the table tennis in the cloisters. We also played tennis and croquet. The Sciptorium was clean, and had everything we needed including wi fi, freeview TV (both vital to an 8 year old addicted to u tube and kids TV). I loved the feather duvet and pillows. I think if I had any negatives at all it would be tha...more
Absolutely beautiful and ideal for families with young children... they can play and run outside all they want. There is a small playground available, tennis court, and many other games. Village and restaurants are a few minutes walk.
A beautiful apartment and very well appointed. It is decorated to a very high standard with beautiful fixtures and fittings. The location is excellent but perhaps not suitable for elderly visitors due to the number of stairs leading up to it. With beautiful views over the loch, it was useful to have a table and chairs in the lounge in addition to the huge eight seater in the kitchen/dining area. The internal window overlooking the atrium is a lovely touch. The linen etc was comfortable and spotlessly clean but the same cannot be said for the utensils, pots, pans and trays. We had to clea...more
lovely location, and apartment in a genuine monastery with cloisters, chapel and refectory with stained glass windows. The Struan apartment we stayed in is beautifully furnished and has lovely views looking down loch Ness. Although one of 100 apartments it has retained a feeling of seclusion and tranquility.
the abbey is an enchanting, rare location, fort augustus is tidy village with esential services. my famil (my wife, our son 11yo and me) spent 1 week there, a lot of nice sights are in a 1-hour drive range, and also closer a plenty of trekking paths. apartment is large, modern, confortable, with top equipment and facilities. Maybe the first time my family and I felt really at home away from home just do not expect classic resort facilies like animation for children and all you can eat restaurant, and it was just fine for us
I was a bit dubious about staying in a converted monastery but glad we did. Converted to a very high standard with space to spread out and enjoy the well appointed apartment which had everything you need and more. Two bathrooms were an added bonus. Perfect location very convenient for exploring the highlands. Quiet site with stunning views across Loch Ness. Local boathouse restaurant was very nice too. Would I recommend yes and would I book again yes too.
The Abbey buildings are in a really lovely location on Loch Ness and look right up the loch. The original Abbey buildings are very beautiful and it is a real pleasure to wander through the cloisters and the grounds. Abbey Church 10 is in one of the newer extensions and is very close to the main atrium and swimming pool area. In fact, the kitchen window looks down into the atrium. In an old building it is understandable that there would be restrictions on space and that is probably why the layout of this apartment is a little quirky. The apartment is very linear with the kitchen at one end of...more
Lovely well appointed apartment but the overall building needs a refresh and felt it was expensive now there is no swimming pool and very unhelpful service at The Boathouse restaurant.
Really great concept but missed opportunities. The reception was less than welcoming. Apartment was comfortable, but not up to the luxury advertising. Poor quality linen, holes in pillow cases and poor fitting bed sheets. Kitchen utensils were tired and toaster only worked if you kept the lever down. An onsite bar or coffee shop would have been welcome and the corridors felt like a university hall or institution and would have benefitted from some pictures, quality flooring and improved lighting.
Beautiful place, good stay, not so cleaned. Good accomodation, wonderful view and landascape on the lanke. Very very kind Mike!!!!
