A pretty Lakeland cottage which backs onto open fields with superb fell views and a little running beck at the bottom of the large private garden.

Rose Bank Cottage is cosy and welcoming. We stayed for a week at Easter and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook a roast dinner. The back garden was lovely, with stunning views of the fells and the cottage itself is only a short walk to the centre of the village with all its amenities. A lovely place to stay!

We booked Rose Bank Cottage for a family of 4 adults and a dog to walk some more Wainwrights. Braithwaite was an excellent location to access the fells and also close to Keswick for shops and amenities when not walking. The cottage is lovely, very clean and comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. The garden was excellent for the dog and we had visits from pheasants, squirrels and a harvest mouse accessing the bird table. 2 pubs and a cafe in the village provide good meals and access to some lovely, scenic, shorter walks on public footpaths and bridleways. We would definitely recommend and will re-visit when we can.
This is the second time we've booked with Keswick Cottages and both houses we've stayed in have been very good.

Rose Bank Cottage was everything we expected it to be, it didn't disappoint. We know Keswick very well and have been coming here for years but this year we wanted something a bit more magical as it was Christmas. Set in the beautiful village of Braithwaite the location was perfect for us enjoying the local walks from the cottage with our family and dog who had the best walks ever. We made use of the two pubs in the village eating at both, we found them both to be very friendly. The village looked lovely with all the Christmas lights, It really felt like Christmas!
The cottage itself was very comfortable and warm with a log burner which we used on several occasions. It was very in keeping with the local area and had been tastefully decorated, the kitchen we believe had recently been renovated too which was a nice surprise. It was nice to have Christmas decorations too which had been put up for us with fresh Christmas Ivy.
We cooked a full Christmas dinner in the kitchen and found all equipment to be of a high standard, the oven cooked the turkey perfectly! The only thing missing was a gravy boat so had to use the measuring jug instead!!!!
We had a fantastic time, loved the cottage, the gardens we believe would be a lovely space in the summer with fantastic views. I would not hesitate at having Christmas here again!! Thank you

Caution needed on exiting car onto the narrow, busy Newlands Road. Cottage a delight - spotlessly clean, compact, well equipped, comfortable and warm. Owners, next door, very helpful. Enjoyed the week so much that I have re-booked for 2024.

Rose Bank Cottage is in a nice location in the village close to the pubs and bus stop.
This was our second visit and again we were not disappointed, very clean and well presented cottage with everything we needed for our holiday.

This was our fifth stay at Rose Bank; it is a very convenient property in an excellent location. We will book again. Their is all the equipment you will need and it works well. Excellent enclosed garden for sitting out and for dogs. Good pubs and shop in the village, which is an excelelnt route centre. Plenty of walks from the door. Generally very comfortable, although the seating is beginning to get tired. Two points of caution - the stairs are steep with a tight turn and narrow bottom step so require care - care is required getting on nad off the drive onto the Newlands road as visibility is restricted. This won't put us off visiting again

Just home from a wonderful week of gorgeous weather in the Lake District. And what better place to spend it than Rose Bank Cottage in Braithwaite! This is a lovely, comfortable cottage, beautifully presented with a fabulous outlook onto farmland and fells.
Inside the cottage is well equipped with everything you might need but our favourite part is the back garden: relaxing out there morning and evening makes a perfect topping to our walking holiday.

I came to stay at Rose Bank cottage with my younger daughter, her husband, her daughter (18) and her daughter's boyfriend (18).
Everyone was comfortable with their rooms. The double room with ensuite shower room was ideal for my granddaughter and boyfriend. The only minus for me(84), I suppose was having to go downstairs for the bathroom; but that wasn't too much of a problem. The lounge/diner was well appointed and there was everything one might require in the kitchen. The back garden was lovely with a beautiful view.
There was just enough room to squeeze both our cars onto the driveway. Braithwaite is a lovely village and very friendly. A short walk to the village shop, with friendly staff, and to both hostelries. Plenty of interesting (and testing) walks round about and places to visit.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Rose Bank.

We have stayed here quite a few times now & always find it always very clean & comfortable & good for the dog.Near enough to Keswick & good for walks out the door. Pheasants come to be fed in the garden which has a view across fields to the hills. The Coledale Inn was good for food & only a few minutes walk away.

Most years we stay in three cottages in the North of England and Scotland. Rose Bank is one of our favourites; we have stayed there four times and have already booked it again. It is a real home from home, cosy, comfortable, well equipped, clean and cared for, with a good garden and superb views – perfect for a week such as last week with so much wind and rain, in one of the best Lakeland villages.

We have two concerns about the property and one comment.
1. The stairs could be dangerous, especially at the bottom. We have both slipped, fortunately without doing too much damage, but someone else may not be so lucky. This could be improved by changing the stair carpet so it is a contrasting colour to the hall and by extending the hand rail and post to the bottom step.
2. Visibility when exiting the car is limited and requires care.
3. Could there be an additional slabbed/slated step onto the lawn – the narrow entrance gets muddy and slippy?

We have stayed in Braithwaite a number of times but Rose Bank is probably the best location, being out of the centre but only a few minutes walk to the shop or Pubs. There are great views of the surrounding fells from virtually anywhere in the property. Plenty of walks direct from the door, whether that be the fells, local footpaths, or the country lanes, a pleasant walk to Keswick only takes about and hour if you don't want to use the car. There is a utility area just of the kitchen that can store a bike, a bit tight for a mountain bike but doable and very secure.

Rose Bank is a lovely cosy cottage with incredible views and perfect location within the village of Braithwaite. We have stopped there 5 times up till now with a further booking next year. The village shop is a couple of minutes walk and the 3 pubs are not much more.
The lounge/diner is cosy with a log burner. There is wi-fi which works great and also alterations to local mobile masts now mean you can get a good signal in the cottage. The TV is small but adequate as most people will no doubt take advantage of the pubs. The view through the lounge sliding doors is lovely and if weather permits the patio furniture provides a relaxing area to sit. The garden is of a reasonably large size and is pet friendly. If you stop there please remember to stock the feeder on the bird table and you will be rewarded with frequent visitors. Bird food is usually provided too.
The kitchen is well stocked with appliances and the small table enables breakfast for a few people. There is a washing room with washing machine and boot room at the back of the kitchen with access to the garden too.
The downstairs bathroom is nicely appointed with a shower over the bath.
There a three bedrooms upstairs, Double, twin with en-suite and a single. All have comfortable beds and sufficient storage for clothes, etc.
This is a lovely little cottage in a beautiful village but I do have to add that it is looking a little tired now. Since our first stay nothing has changed and I feel it could do with a little lift. Our last stay we had several light bulbs out and found cob webs in quite a few places which is down to the cleaning staff. It won't stop us staying again as overall it is a nice place to be with great location for walking and being pet friendly is great.
I would still recommend this cottage to anyone as it has a lot going for it.

Peaceful location in the heart of Braithwaite. Beautiful garden. Well equipped cottage with everything we needed. Loved to see and hear the sheep from our cottage. Al Bear was very welcoming and helpful.

We have stayed here a few times & it is always very clean & comfortable with views & secure garden. I agree with the previous reviewer who said only 5 sets of cutlery & crockery was a nuisance, now that Covid rules are changing it could go back to 10 as it used to be. The recycling/rubbish notice in the kitchen is wrong & needed to check with Allerdale Council for the right dates. Great walks from the door & good food at the Royal Oak.

Our first time in this cottage and we loved it. The garden and view were the best. The cottage was comfortable and clean and a short stroll to the village shop and pub. We loved that it was so quiet. Lots of great walks to take the dogs on. The only negatives would be the size of the bath towels- I would like to have seen bath sheets provided and not small bath towels and the mattress in the single room was uncomfortable- a nice thick mattress topper would maybe help it. Otherwise everything else was great. We appreciated the welcome bottle of wine. Thank you for a lovely stay- the gorgeous weather helped.

It would be difficult for the cottage to be in a better location. Extremely dog friendly, and on the whole a comfortable and well equiped cottage. Nice that the owner called to see all was well.
A couple of negatives however. There was only five sets of cutlery and crockery so washing up required after every meal, or the dishwasher was run half full. The stairs have to be decended with care. We had a gale, which whistled through the back door and chilled the kitchen.
That said, it wouldn't stop us visiting again.
