When we received the call from the head office saying that our original cottage was unavailable we feared the worst but the upgrade offered took us 5 minutes to decide...yes. The cottage is beautiful, set almost lake side and ideal for families seeking some peace and quiet.
The setting is fine but we were unlucky to get the week when we had a permafrost and the unnamed roads were permanently frozen and lethal.
The welcome pack was fine but it should have been checked as the crisps were already open.
Support from the office and maintenance team was great when we had boiler trouble.
Walks from the cottage are great and the car ferry is reachable by foot hopefully without ice on the roads.
The bedrooms are superb and shower and bath facilities are great.

We hired Cunsey Mill House from the Graythwaite estate and were again very pleased with our stay. The property was well looked after and superbly situated for what we wanted to do in the Lakes. It absorbed the full 6 people for part of the stay. Good team who responded to various requests. Recommended.

Cunsey Mill House is a semi-detached house, built next to a small quarry. It is located wonderfully quiet and just a few hundred metres away from Lake Windermere. You can access the footpath around the lake and a little stony and shadowy bay. Our children loved throwing stones into the water and some of us even swam in the surprising warm lake.
The house itself is big and well renovated, preserving its character. We loved sitting in the old windows with view into the green. Especially the master bedroom with the bath tub is very well done and feels like pure luxury. The sitting room is cosy and provides plenty of room, but is rather dark. That applies for most of the rest of the house as well, since it is so close to the quarry. That also and not surprising to us caused a slight dampness on rainy days, but the heating worked really well. The kitchen ist beautiful, okay equipped and the only thing we did not like was the view out of the window into a narrow courtyard. All machines worked very well.
The staff was very helpful and nice - at the shop or from maintenance. Thank you again for exchanging the broken lock so quickly!
The cleanliness was okay, but obviously not everything had been cleaned (shower).
We loved our SUP tour with Graythwaite Adventure - very kind staff!!

Beautiful cottage in a great location by a mill with direct access to Lake Windermere. The cottage was very cosy and dried us out after a very wet weather few days! The quiet and peaceful surroundings were just what we needed. Lovely walks and rope swings in woods nearby. Plenty of hot water and toiletries with fluffy towels to warm us up afterwards plus a nice welcome basket.

Would highly recommend Cunsey Mill House. It's a beautiful house in a beautiful setting. Really clean and a lovely interior. The only thing that could make it better would be the addition of a coffee machine!

Superb property that has been recently re-furbished to a high standard with excellent facilities and very good heating.
Ideal for use of Lake Windermere as it's a short 100m walk to the waters edge with a general use jetty, we used a kayak and paddle board daily.
Internet - website said none but in fact it is now fully functioning although being so rural is slow but usable.
