As above plus.outdoor tub was stacked differently from the instructions in folder. More info needed how to light a fire around a bend. Antique headlamps not good for bedtime reading great for other things.
I stayed for two nights, before and the night of my wedding. Everything was spotless and tidy! It’s such a pretty place and made even better by the fact there’s a gorgeous view no matter where you are in the castle. Couldn’t fault Neidpath in any way.
Beautiful place with everything needed for a long weekend. Very well renovated and decorated with lovely grounds and walks from the door, including along the Tweed. Immaculately clean too. Love to try some of the other options here.
We had a second fabulous stay at Barns Library. There are just two things I would highlight. The lighting does really need to be checked as the wall light over the bookshelf is still not working and in such a dark environment it is essential and also atmospheric. The duvet in the master bedroom should have been laundered some time ago. It is not a pleasure to strip a bed and note that one has been sleeping under a duvet that cleanliness is not of the highest standard.
I was immersed in the history of the Scottish Boarders during my stay. An out of the ordinary experience . I recommend reading a copy of John Buchan’s “John Burnet “ which is a fiction based on the past owners of the tower. Excellent customer service. Situated right in the heart of some great walking.
To say our stay was magical may seem a bit dramatic, but there is simply no other word to encompass our experience. The rooms were pristine, the grounds, glorious, the staff, superb! Katerina was so helpful and her work on the flowers/arch was immaculate. Dave and Innes were phenomenal and Rachel was so responsive and always available for any needs! I wish we never had to leave, but the memory of our time there and the magic of it all will remain.
