Our expectations, based on the listing was that this is a large country house – this it is except that it is in a town. A nice place but unusual in many ways.

5 bedrooms, some equipped okay with wardrobes, bedside lights etc, others without. All wardrobes in the main bedroom were locked, a low coat-hanging frame was provided which wasn't much use. Drawers were full of the owners clothes, two drawers left empty for guests though one of these had a pair of men’s pants in them, we felt best not to use them.
Upstairs there are many locked rooms, there's a "Gym" which is very much the owners personal space so it did feel as if we shouldn't be in there.

Downstairs - unusual kitchen arrangement with the fridge and sink in a dimly lit room next to it, quite a walk from the hob and oven which can be worrying when you have children running around. Pretty much no food storage space for us apart from in the fridge and a shelf. The owners foods etc still there.
Downstairs rooms weren't big enough for all of us to be in together, there is a room that contains many stacked chairs and is filled by a table but it's not an attractive place for meals.
Lovely gardens, pond and enjoyable pool plus games room.

We did enjoy a nice week there but our expectations were wrong, we paid a huge amount for a week at the end of July and it was annoying to see that prices either side of our booking had been reduced despite us being told that we were very lucky to find that week available as its always fully booked and that “No a week was the minimum stay” which it turned out it wasn't.
We thought we were renting a house set up for holiday rentals but it is a bit more like an Airbnb with the owners moving out to the next door annex leaving their stuff behind, thus one sometimes felt as if we were intruding.
In summary, we felt annoyed by the agents, the house should have been better at this cost, the owners were very nice and all in all we had a good week there.

Wow what an amazing property and host. We hired Craythornes out for my friends to gather for my 50th. What a gem this find was. The house is massive and accommodating for all ages. Its quirky character and decor made it even more amazing.
The house layout meant that rain or shine it could accommodate us all without feeling cramped whatsoever. There was plenty of rooms for everyone to utilise from the open plan kitchen with sofa and chairs, to the lounge, the conservatory, games room, garden.
The pool was so lovely. Perfect temperature, clean and safe if you have you gets ones as it’s fenced off. The deep end has slanted walls so for the youngest ones it’s easy for them to get to the edge and get out. There are plenty of Sun loungers and seats around the pool.
The new games room was fab although we only used it briefly
Plenty of garden area, seating and garden games.
The kitchen was fully stocked with plates/pots/pans /- everything you need.
The bedrooms were clean, big, and the beds were so comfy. Plenty of bath and pool towels available.
Plenty of toilets and bathrooms in the house
Sarah the host was amazing - we felt at home and everything was perfect for us. I didn’t want to leave and am definitely planning a return visit
There was nothing to not like about this property and its facilities. Everything is thought of and available
I would 100% recommend Craythornes and I cannot wait to return

My extended family and I had the most wonderful stay at Craythornes. The pool area and garden were fantastic, and there was an abundance of space indoors that meant we all had chance to be together but also space out and chill out. The teenagers particularly loved the film room! We would definitely stay again.

Craythornes is a beautiful house with masses of character, perfect for a group New Year's Eve celebration. We particularly loved the spacious kitchen, the extremely comfortable beds and the easy access to Dungeness. The owner was incredibly welcoming, helpful and relaxed which we really appreciated, and we had great communication & flexibility from Bloom Stays in the run-up.

Sarah, the owner was very helpful and responsive.
The Bloom team were helpful and polite, courtesy emails directly before payments are taken would be useful as the payment emails aren’t from bloom.

We apologise payments didn't seem clear, all payments are addressed on the email confirmation as well as when the security deposit will be taken and they are processed by our system but a card company takes the transaction. We were amazed with the warm welcome extended by the host of this property. We stayed in this property for couple of nights, it was an stay with our friends and family which will be remembered life time. The property was clean and bedding linens were fresh.
Had plenty of rooms to explore along with few hidden gems with in the property.
We had a request with hosts to extends our checkout time by couple of hours which was pleasantly accepted.
Given the chance we will be staying again in this property. We simply loved the location, cleanliness and everything about the property.
