Kirkcudbright is a beautiful place. We were pretty disappointed to be told access was after 4pm but could be sooner and they would call to let us know. It was pouring with rain and we sat in the car for 45 mins before deciding to go check as nobody had bothered to let us know. We entered the house at 3.20. The house is comfortable enough and heating worked well. The back door was somewhat weird in that its an emergency exit only with signs saying dont use other than in emergency but the narrow pathway was blocked by a box of wood and bags of soil??
