(I left my review on paper inside the cottage also)

The quiet, the view across the bay, the small neat cottage with simple, natural decor

Of the decor the wood, sheepskin covers and the colour scheme are perfect

Lovely extras: the paper kitchen bag with brand new sponge, kitchen cloth and dishwasher tabs
the fridge essentials, the bread, coffee and tea bags

Everything about this cottage was perfect. Spotless, tastefully decorated, on the beach, views from every window, sunny bench outside, great walks in every direction, near all the facilities of Port Erin. Comfy beds, great for teenagers, provisions in the fridge on arrival…perfect.

Very well equipped cottage, with stunning views across the bay in Port Erin. The cottage is perched on a hillside with parking outside the front door. This is a very narrow road, with service vehicles reversing round regularly.I found it easier to park the car on Shore road at the bottom of the hill, also no restrictions. This also meant the car was not blocking the view of the bay from the living room window.
Pubs within easy walk of the property, but this is quite a hilly location,so it helps if you are quite fit.Shops are nearby with a Tesco in the village centre Excellent transport links to the rest of the island, with competitive ticket prices.

The cottage was a lovely surprise being both cozy with traditional features and modern. The bathroom was luxurious with a great shower and the master bedroom was very comfortable. Well appointed kitchen that you can cook properly in. No shortage of equipment. Would definitely stay there again.

Our second stay within a month as we have had to visit for family reasons. It makes a great base even in winter, warm and comfortable. The only slight drawback might be the cul de sac location and having to reverse in or out.Against that parking is very convenient and the view over the bay and harbour is great. We enjoyed our stay despite the circumstances.

This property was booked for colleagues who were carrying out work in the area. The house and location were more than suitable for their needs, and communication was great with Island Escapes who were very helpful when we needed to extend the stay. I would not hesitate to book again.

Baljean is in a fantastic location both for views over the harbour and for access to the village centre shops and public transport. Generally the house is well appointed with everything you will need for a relaxing holiday, The kitchen is well equiped and even has a dish washer which was very welcome, The Shower room has underfloor heating and the shower (overhead Rain and handheld) is spacious with excellent pressure. Bedrooms are well decorated and beds very comfortable, Bedside lights and USB sockets (throughout the house) are useful.
The lounge posed a couple of issues, nothing serious but the furniture leaves a little to be desired, the sofa is good but armchairs are not so comfortable for long periods. The dining table folds out and is just about ok, the dining chairs provided are too low for the table and required cushions, there are other folding chairs that are secreted within the table cabinet but these are somewhat flimsy and I didnt trust them. The log burner was good once we got it going, which took quite an effort with the logs provided refusing to stay lit, we eventually got it going with a lot of fire lighters. There is a good selection of guide books, novels and magazines, Smart speaker Radio TV with freeview box all worked as they should.

Parking outside the house is OK, easy to get in for unloading etc but difficult to get out again as it is not possible to turn round so reversing out around a bend can be tricky without someone to watch the road for you.The locals tend to reverse in.

IoM Public Transport is excellent, we had 5 day 'Go explore' catrds which were excellent value for money,
The chip shop opposite the station is truly fantastic.

Overall, a good house that can be recommended for a nice stay in Port Erin, I have provided feedback to Island escapes with regard to minor maintenance and improvements that would make Baljean a truly super Cottage.

The groceries found in the fridge (Milk, butter, cheese, bread) were a very nice touch.

After six months of unforeseen medical treatment a short break was needed!
Booked Baljean as we had previously stayed here in 2014!
Property has had a makeover, beautifully done, love the new bathroom.
Welcome pack of milk, bread, butter, cheese and chocolate was much appreciated.
We explored old haunts and caught up with family who live on the island, sat and had ice cream on my mum and dad’s bench at the railway station.
In all an excellent week the sun shone!
Can recommend Sunday lunch on the steam train.
Most of all, that view! What more would you want?

The cottage has a wonderful position and a lovely view. The kitchen and bathroom have been nicely modernised and the bed was comfortable. It could have been perfect except there were a number of things that spoiled it for us. The cottage was cold and two of the heating adjustment settings were locked - the bedroom at 15 degrees! The windows needed cleaning and the were only 2 saucepans. We cleaned the windows and Island Escapes promptly produced a 3rd saucepan. They did come out and try to sort the heating issues, but the central heating only worked for one evening. I'd recommend that any future visitors being a stand alone electric heater with them!!

Our second visit was amazing and only frustrated that we could not get in again for next year due to its popularity.
Would definitely recommend for anyone who loves the IOM and a grandstand view for the best sunsets.

What a view overlooking Port Erin Beach and harbour. We would sit and watch all the activities on the shore below. The cottage was so well prepared for our visit. It was immaculate.
It was close to all amenities and it was well worth paying a wee bit extra to be able to charge out EV.
All in all this was one of our favourite cottages and we have stayed in many across the UK and Ireland.

We have loved our stay at Baljean!

It has the wow factor with the way the home is furnished. It’s really top class. Good quality and stylish, a really comfortable stay too.

This place would be brilliant anywhere but when you add in the stunning view of port Erin it makes it really special. This can be seen from the windows in the main bedroom, living room and even the shower and a nice little bench outside is a good shop to soak it in.

Also really great communication. We asked 2 questions on the day of arrival. First for a slightly earlier check in if possible and secondly for the whereabouts of the Wi-Fi, both answered really quickly via email which was impressive again.

We don't want to leave and would Highly recommend staying here. We will definitely return to for future trips.

The cottage is just perfect. Beautifully decorated & furnished, very well kitted out and a very comfy bed! The view is amazing and so close to the beach. We sat for hours staring out to sea! Great pizzas at Gustos and the cocktail/wine bar at Vintners winery is fabulous! Recommend driving the TT circuit & stopping off at the victory cafe, taking the tram up Snaefell, walking to Laxey wheel, lunch at the Shed by Laxey beach, walk on Fanella beach at Peel (full of scallop shells) and lunch at the boatyard, watching the seals at point of Ayr, and breakfast or lunch at the sound cafe near Port St Mary’s with incredible views and seals there too.

The cottage 'Baljean' was excellent although it took a while for the under floor heating to get up to comfortable. Probably not normally an issue but the weather was poor and a bit chilly. We knew there was a log burner so had taken some logs with us. It quickly warmed the room and was very cosy. Would recommend that to anyone if going during the winter months.

Lovely cottage with amazing views in a fantastic location. The cottage was beautifully appointed and very comfortable. Only negative I had was when parking outside the property it was not easy to get back out the flowing day as the cottage is in a cul-de-sac and the road is not wide enough to turn in, there is plenty on parking just down from the property on the sea front but the path back up to the cottage is quite steep which could be a problem for some people. I must also recommend the pizza restaurant/takeaway on the sea front which was fantastic.
Would definitely stay here again!

We stayed in Baljean when visiting friends on the island. The cottage was easy to get to using public transport, being only a short walk from the station. When we arrived there was a welcome pack of bread, cheese, butter and milk with tea, coffee and biscuits also available. The facilities were great but we didn’t use most of them as we were out visiting. The views from the cottage were beautiful, looking straight out over the bay. It was lovely and peaceful and very comfortable. We would recommend a visit and will definitely try to stay here again.

great place for a couple-and child-pre 17
single beds -are narrow due to room size

to park you have to reverse your way out around a dody stone wall corner-thats takes practice. Our neighbour Dan ( resident ) would jump in the car and do the job-with some expertise and deftness.

Baljean is ideally situated overlooking the bay at Port Erin just a short walk to the beach. The house has plenty of character and is decorated and furnished to a high standard. The parking and access road is a little narrow and slightly challenging. Over all we enjoyed our stay and would happily return.

Baljean is a lovely property to stay in and is in a beautiful location.
It is very well equipped and was exceptionally clean. The condition was excellent. We had an issue with the washing machine while we were there and island escapes responded promptly even offering to pay for any laundry we needed doing while it was fixed.
The only thing that could improve the property is more comfortable lounge furniture. The chairs and sofa really aren’t nice to spend a whole evening sat on.

Lovely cottage located less than 2 minutes from Port Erin beach with excellent views of the beautiful harbour and daily sunsets :)

Baljean is stylishly finished and well maintained. The outside electric sockets (located in the walk way at the side of the property) proved very helpful for re-charging our plug-in hybrid car. Also loved 'Wellington', the dog that guards the outside rear of the property; you'll know what I mean when you see him ;)

[We had a small problem with the dishwasher, but this was resolved very prompty by Island Escapes.]

Would definitely recommend this property and Port Erin - hope to be back soon :)

Nicely renewed attractive property with stunning views over the bay at Port Erin. Port Erin is one of the more attractive destinations on the Isle of Man and Baljean is a stunning location.

The position of Baljean is quite special, overlooking Port Erin Bay, which is why we have spent quite a few holidays there over the years. However the recent modern refurbishment has added to the appeal, giving it a real seaside holiday feel.
The kitchen and upstairs rooms are very well appointed with good facilities. The decent sized sitting/dining room, with excellent views would probably benefit from a more substantial table and chairs and the TV relocated for more all round relaxed viewing, especially when there are more than 2 guests.
We will however certainly continue to use this ideally situated cottage which ticks all the boxes for our requirements.

A lovely cottage with outstanding views out to sea and the whole of Port Erin Bay. Very convenient for shops, buses, trains and many walking opportunities. Parking location may pose a problem for some due to there being no turning areas and therefore having to reverse in or out of the road. The cottage is very well equipped, especially the kitchen. Other rooms, such as the second bedroom, would benefit from a mirror near a power point and maybe a small shelf as space is limited. Milk, butter, cheese, bread and a small selection of biscuits, tea and coffee were gratefully appreciated. A most enjoyable stay.
