A truly unique property in the Lake district, for large groups of family and friends to relax and enjoy in a remote setting but with local amenities just a mile away.

The Oaks boasts 12 bedrooms, with a palatial open-plan kitchen, extensive dining room, lounges, two TV rooms, hot tubs, a Sauna and uninterrupted views within an acre of private garden and woodland area.

The main entrance opens into a hallway that is lined by decorative oak panels, which came from St Marys Church in Windermere. The rich panelling is a fitting start to the rest of this beautifully appointed holiday property.

We have been using The Oaks in Bowness-on-Windermere as the venue for our residential events, and I genuinely cannot recommend it highly enough.

For anyone looking for a venue for a company retreat, leadership event, workshop or residential programme, The Oaks is exceptional. It manages to feel both professional and incredibly welcoming, with enough space for a large group to come together while still having plenty of quieter areas when people need some downtime.

The house itself is stunning and always immaculately presented. The setting is hard to beat, with beautiful views across the rolling Lake District countryside from the rear of the property. Despite feeling completely private and peaceful, you're also only a short distance from Bowness.

The bedrooms are excellent, with the majority being en-suite, which makes a huge difference when running multi-day events. Having a ground-floor accessible bedroom with its own wet-room en-suite is also incredibly valuable and means the property can accommodate a much wider range of guests.

From an event organiser's perspective, the kitchen is one of the biggest advantages. It is exceptionally well equipped, with four ovens, two induction hobs, multiple large fridges, four dishwashers, a large wine fridge and virtually everything you could need to cater properly for a sizeable group. Whether you're self-catering or bringing in professional caterers, it works brilliantly.

The leisure facilities are another huge plus. The two hot tubs and sauna provide the perfect opportunity for guests to relax and recover at the end of the day, while the pool table and various lounge areas create a really natural environment for people to spend time together outside the structured parts of an event.

What really sets The Oaks apart, though, is the people. The family and team who run the estate are incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating. Nothing ever feels like too much trouble and they consistently go above and beyond to help us make our events work. That level of support is invaluable when you're responsible for bringing a group away for several days.

We run The Alpha Reset from The Oaks and, having used the property repeatedly, we honestly wouldn't choose anywhere else for our UK events. It gives us everything we need: privacy, space, beautiful surroundings, outstanding facilities and a team behind the venue who genuinely care about the experience of their guests.

For companies or organisations looking for somewhere special to bring a team together, disconnect from everyday life, do meaningful work and have space to relax afterwards, The Oaks is very difficult to beat.

An exceptional venue and one we look forward to returning to again and again.

Our families fifth time at The Oaks,perfect for us from our 90 year old mum to our 4 year old granddaughter,the house and grounds are well maintained and very clean,the cottage has everything you need and is close to Bowness with its numerous bars and restaurants,probably the best we’ve ever stayed in

A great house for a large group. Comfortable beds, 4 lounge areas and a very well equipped kitchen. The la Minor issues dealt with immediately by Martin. Well placed for a walk to Bowness and drive to much of the Lake District.

We stayed for a weekend celebrating the end of exams. The kitchen was well kitted out to feed 25 people with plenty of oven, fridge/freezers etc. The bedrooms are very comfortable. There are multiple lounge areas to relax in. The outside area is great too...We played football and rounders in the big garden as well as enjoyed eating on the patio and relaxing in the hot tubs. And only a short walk down to the lake during the day. Its got everything you need for a get together with friends or family and will definitely book again.

This is the second year that we have stayed at The House at The Oaks and once again we all enjoyed a wonderful week.
The pre stay customer service - I always received a prompt reply
Whilst on site - an exceptional service- little hiccups were dealt with almost immediately, usually by Martin, who was very friendly, helpful and polite.
The House has everything that you need to ensure that everything goes smoothly, is supplied with enough of everything to cater for 20+ guests, is spotlessly clean and well maintained and nothing seems too much trouble.
It’s in a fantastic place for getting around the Lakes and I would certainly recommend it.
Thank you to everyone who works really hard, so that we can relax!

Our stay at The Oaks Country House couldn’t have been any better! The house itself is just amazing, the location and the views make it even more incredible (the pictures really don’t do it justice)! The staff are so attentive and accommodating and really went above and beyond to make sure our weekend was perfect.

We all really enjoyed our long weekend stay. A group of 16 similar ages and all enjoyed the facilities of the country house. Great location being only a 15 minute leisurely walk into Bowness. Couldn't fault anything at all.

What can I say, this is our second time here for our annual friends weekend and yet again this house and location did not disappoint. The house and grounds are exceptional and Bowness is on the door step. It really is my favourite house and we have been doing this now for over 15 years. We can’t recommmend the house, the area and the whole team at The Oaks Country House for excellent hospitality. If it was my decision I would choose this house every year. ❤️

we are a family group of about 20 people and were the first visitors to the house when it opened. we have been going back every year since so i think that speaks for itself and we are booked in next year already. even though you are in a large group the house is big enough for individuals to have time to themselves but we tend to live in the kitchen come dining area with the views across the hills. I would fully recommend it.

A great time with all our family at the Oaks,a special mention to Martin the maintenance man,called him to help find a wedding ring lost in a bathroom,came straight away with his tools and really saved the day,thanks again to all the staff
