Set in stunning countryside within a small privately owned estate just outside Lower Oddington, Claytons Cottage is a very comfortable and well-appointed semi-detached Cotswold stone cottage.

Great holiday in a beautiful location

We enjoyed staying in the cottage, which was tastefully furnished and with a homely feel. The cottage was reached down a long driveway which meant it was surrounded by beautiful countryside. Plenty of local walks to be had. A couple of good pubs serving great food within walking distance and others within a short drive. A very enjoyable week.

Everything was perfect we all said we could live here.
If I do have to have one problem is that the fridge freezer needed defrosting and you had to make sure the door was closed?

NO GARDEN at this cottage. The owner will yell at you for walking around the cottage grounds!

I cannot recommend this cottage for anyone with kids and/or a dog. There is no garden to the cottage and when we walked around the cottage the owner would come out and yell at us saying it was private land! The cottage listing is highly misleading. The property was situated immediately next to the owner’s house and working barn. The owner spent the entire time watching us as we attempted to find some green space for our kids & dog to enjoy and repeatedly screamed at us for being on his private land regardless of which direction we walked outside the cottage. The owner was more than happy to take our £300 a night but expected us to stay within the cottage at all times. He was rude and indignant. If you don’t want guests staying on your land don’t rent out a cottage on your land. You can’t have it both ways! My wife & kids certainly didn’t appreciate being shouted at multiple times during our stay.

First of all, this home is in quite a secluded spot, accessed via a country lane then along a track through a field, which is very accurately described in the brochure. If, like us, you find this a positive, then you will be extremely happy. We found this lead up the cottage to be quite magical and an integral part of enhancing our experience. It slowly draws you into an amazing location with views over open countryside and an idyllic property position. For a property which offers 2 en-suite bedrooms, which is all that we required, we found the downstairs space to be very spacious. The cottage was exactly as described. It was clean and tidy and had all the creature comforts needed for a relaxing stay. We’d have no hesitation staying again.

The location was amazing. The amount of wildlife we saw from right outside the cottage was incredible.
The cottage was comfortable, very roomy and felt really homely.
The place needed a bit of TLC in places. The main shower leaked through the floor into the hallway downstairs. However cotswolds hideaways sent out a plumber the next working day and were very apologetic and kind throughout the process.
Overall we would recommend the place as a quiet retreat!

It is our 3rd stay at Claytons Cottage and we love the place.
It does of course depend on what you want as it is effectively in the middle of a field, but it is close enough to enough things that it doesn't present an issue to us, but it may to others.
The cottage itself is a good size for a family of 4, you can squeeze a couple of smaller kids into the attic room with the trundle beds.
It is cosy and well stocked, there are always plenty of towels and the welcome pack is always very welcome.

Lovely cottage in a stunning location but a few things needed looking at: -

Plinth in kitchen fell in.
Had to get plumber out for blocked sink.
Shower waiting for a full refit.
Chair in main bedroom dirty and needs replacing.

We stay in this part of the Cotswolds frequently and we love it. Little Oddington is a treasure - it’s really convenient and offers access to some nice walks (including to Daylesford if you’re so inclined).
The cottage was well set up and provided everything we needed.
We were a family of two adults and two children (girls of 9 and 11) and dog. We all enjoyed the stay.
The owners were close but left us to enjoy privacy at the cottage. They were polite and friendly when we spoke with them.

The cottage was a bit difficult to find, but lovely when we arrived. The provisions were very welcome after a long drive.
A very comfortable and well equipped cottage with plenty of parking and space to relax inside and out.

Just a couple of negatives
We couldnt get the hang of the tv as we are probably old technophobes with no experience of 'apps' on a tv
The second bedroom would be ideal for children but too small for an adult couple.

What a great place Clayton’s Cottage is. A beautiful drive through fields to the stone cottage. A lovely lawned area to the rear and private patio with table, chairs, sun loungers and a huge parasol. This proved essential as we were there during the last heatwave. The kitchen is well stocked with high quality utensils, plates etc. The lounge is comfortable and has a vast number of games, DVDs and books. The bedroom was beautiful also. Highly recommended.

Beautiful, warm homely cottage. Very well equipped (minus a teapot!). Location perfect for access to local villages eg the slaughters, bourbon-on-the-water.
Lovely walks on the doorstep, including to Stow, and plenty of land on property to walk the dog and let the kids burn off some steam.
The plug in the bath got stuck on the last day! Sorry about this! Couldn’t empty the water out.
All in all a lovely holiday, excellent cottage. Would definitely return and advise others to book! Thank you

Very impressive setting and overall appearance. Very spacious in all respects. A little let down by lack of attention to detail in terms of maintenance. Two leaking radiators which meant slip hazard in the ensuite to the twin bedroom (had to be used in emergency). The door from the kitchen to the central hall did not close properly meaning that you could not isolate the dog in the kitchen area if you wanted to. Uncomfortable seating in the lounge.
The worst feature, albeit seen in advance, is the double bed in the main bedroom, at floor level.
We would happily return to Clayton's Cottage but only after a more conventional and large double bed is provided.
Also, dead flies in the light fittings in the main ensuite bathroom did not impress.
I think the owners need to pay a bit more attention to detail and not rely on the housekeeping alone.

We only stayed for 3 nights but the cottage was perfect and in a lovely areas. So many fabulous walks from the door and along very accessible paths to. My only criticism which is most definitely subjective was that we both didn’t find the master bed very comfortable at all. Other than that all good.

Lovely spacious cottage in a peaceful location. Cottage was very clean and lovely spacious rooms very comfortable and felt like a home from home.
There were a few minor housekeeping items reported.
There is no wifi and think this should be made more clear so those that need this are aware. We had good phone signal so not a problem for us.
