A well equipped quaint cottage situated in a pretty quiet village with a pleasant walk to The Wychwood pub and the Lamb Inn. Stow on the Wold and Bourton on the Water were only a few miles away by car and Shipton upon Wychwood was an ideal location. The bed was sooooo comfortable and we would awake to the sound of horses clip clopping from the stables opposite out on their mornings exercise. It was lovely to meet the owner of the cottage and there was a small hamper of goodies and a chocolate orange left on the bed to welcome us. The cottage was clean and there are lovely walks to be had. We returned from our short break fully refreshed and relaxed after our stay in this beautiful cottage in beautiful surroundings. What a way to recharge those batteries.

Bay Tree Cottage is a lovely cottage and Shipton-Under-Wychwood a great village as a base for a break in the Cotswolds. The Cottage is really comfortable for two and well equipped. Parking around the corner no problem at all. Our Host provided loads of information before we travelled and met us just after we arrived which was great, and had also left a welcome hamper with bread, wine and Hot Cross Buns.

Thoroughly Recommended !!

Bed really uncomfortable, found a woodlouse in the bed too. Electric shower in the property but the water pressure was poor. Location was good though and the property was pretty. The owner left us a basket of goodies which was nice.

The warmest of welcomes from our host with lots of handy local advice.cottage is beautifully furnished and having a cooks cupboard of staples was very handy.the log fire was a bonus and with temperatures going to -5 was really needed for a cosy experience.
The cottage is tiny, and for a short break ideal but for us with heaps of stuff storage wa tight, but that's really our issue!!parking around the corner wasn't the greatest but in these tiny villages inevitable.local pubs were fab and we loved the village was perfectly located for our day excursions.tgankyou for a lovely stay

A delightful little cottage set in an area of outstanding beauty. We could not fault the facilities, Vanessa greeted us and supplied a lovely basket of goodies for both ourselves and our dog.
Lots of walks and local eateries to sample and very well placed for trips to local beauty spots and villages.
We had not expected the road to be quite so busy but we really enjoyed our week and the weather was perfect.
Certainly we would return.

What a wonderful find! Bay Tree cottage was idyllic. We had a wonderful few days here exploring the Cotswolds with our young black lab. The cottage catered for all our needs, was beautiful inside and out and spotlessly clean. Thanks to Vanessa for our welcome hamper and her attention to detail.

Compact cottage with character. Well located for Cotswold attractions. Walking distance of three dining pubs. Pretty front garden with sitting area. Stairs would be a bit of a challenge for those with mobility issues. It is not possible to park in front of the cottage. Any vehicle has to be left in a parallel road. Overall this was a cosy, comfortable and enjoyable cottage to stay in.

We really enjoyed are stay at the Cottage. Very central for exploring the Cotswolds and the village itself was delightful. The stairs took a little time to get use to but no problem after several tries. Vanessa was most helpful with the initial details and map. Would certainly recommend to others provided they are agile enough to cope with the stairs. The cottage provided everything we needed for our stay and the welcome hamper was simply the best. Thank you Vanessa.

Bay Tree Cottage was welcoming and comfortable. We were able to walk to the local pubs in 5/10 minutes and the attractive Cotswold Town of Burford was only 10 minutes drive. Shipton Under Whychwood was itself full of fascinating properties in a semi-rural setting. Vanessa was excellent, providing some basic provisions and on-hand to show us the essentials. Our stay coincided with a very cold spell so we needed to use the electric heating a little more in the evening and could have used the wood burner if necessary. The tiled floor in the bathroom was particularly cold, so remember your slippers. The kitchen was well equipped and all the appliances easy to use. The bed was very comfortable and the linen/towels lovely. Overall we had a very pleasant stay and would love to go back again.

It should be made clear in the website 'details', pre-booking, that for comfortable heating and warmth in the winter, the use of the wood-burner is essential, and even then, upstairs was chilly. The electric central heating was on low and the thermostats were inaccessible, and any heat was 'screened' by the 'decorative covers' over the radiators. The approximate cost of a packet of fire-wood etc should be given in the 'details'. We used one every evening.
Our host was pleasant and the 'welcome' hamper very welcome. The kitchen was small but well-equipped, with all basics provided, and the appliances good. A drawer fridge-freezer would be useful for longer stays. The bathroom was up-to-date with plentiful hot water, and the towels were good, though the towel rail was inadequate as a heater. Hand grabs would be useful to help access to the shower over the bath. The bed and bedding were very comfortable though the room was cold. The lighting upstairs was poor, and the side lights could be better in the sitting-room, in spite of the 3 or 4 spotlights centre/overhead.
The garden was tidy and would be a pleasant sitting-out area in warm weather. Sadly, this cottage was not warm enough for a winter let in my view (and we were out and about during daylight hours). I would only recommend this cottage in the warmer months.

We absolutely loved our stay here at Bay Tree. Vanessa was a wonderful host, who even provided us with gluten free treats as a welcome gift-very thoughtful!
The cottage itself is stunning, with everything you need for a relaxing stay. We visited the Lamb Inn for a taste of their own homemade gin which was beautiful.
We didn’t intend on using our long weekend for adventures, more just for some much needed R&R and that’s exactly what we got.
Log burner was a real treat, as was the super comfy bed!
Thanks Vanessa, we’ll definitely be back!

A very enjoyable and relaxing stay at Bay Tree Cottage. Well equipped and lots of added extras supplied by the friendly owner Vanessa. The garden is lovely spot to enjoy a drink and we managed to do this even in October as the weather was kind to us.

Lots of independent shops at nearby Burford and just a short drive to the Cotswold Wildlife Park which is well worth a visit.

The Bay Tree Cottage is small but perfectly formed. The welcome pack provided by Vanessa was a lovely touch with treats for us and our dog Poppy. There are loads of great walking books in the cottage which meant we had lots of choice and information when searching for places to visit. The bed was comfy and the place was clean with plenty of towels and other provisions in the kitchen (cling film, spices, washing up liquid etc.) I'd brought things with me but really didn't need to.
It's a beautiful area with 3 pubs in the village within walking distance (though we only tried 2).

There is no parking outside the cottage but there is a lane a couple of minutes walk away where it is easy to park.

Vanessa made us feel very welcome and we would definitely recommend this as a place for 2 people (and a dog!) to stay with lots to explore on your doorstep.

One of the best UK holidays we’ve ever had. The host Vanessa was charming and was very helpful on our arrival. The cottage itself was perfect in every way, and the location within the Cotswolds is fantastic with easy access to many local amenities and all of the charming villages and towns are easily reached. So much to see and do in and around the area. I would recommend a stay at Bay Tree Cottage to anyone visiting the Cotswolds, it is wonderful !!!

We had a very enjoyable stay in Bay Tree Cottage, The bed was really comfortable!. Vanessa the owner was extremely friendly and helpful, providing a local map, information on local amenities etc and lovely welcome surprises - including a bottle of wine. The kitchen is quite small but there was everything there that we needed and the outdoor table and chairs were put to good use .The stairs are very steep - but this was made very clear when we booked and the hand rails meant that we didn't have a problem, but anyone with mobility problems may have.
We loved the local area and enjoyed visiting the Wychwood Wild Garden and local pubs - all within walking distance.

Really lovely little cottage in a small village. Warm welcome and useful tips by the host, Vanessa. Very comfortable bed, tiny but fully equipped kitchen, lovely garden at front. Thoughtful welcome hamper with wine, bread, crumpets, biscuits, etc. Fabulous weather to boot so we had breakfast in the garden every day. Several pubs in walking distance. Particularly liked the food in The Lamb Inn (10m walk) and The Hare (5min drive). Shipton Wychwood Wild Garden was a beautiful quiet cool haven during the heatwave. Perfect break…

Bay Tree Cottage is very attractively furnished, well equipped and delightful in many ways and we had a wonderfully warm welcome from the owner who sent us much very useful information before our arrival. However, I regret that my recommendation is ‘yes, but’ because I could not recommend the cottage to ageing friends or those with mobility problems due to the very narrow and steep winding stairs to the first floor.

Excellent communication prior to our stay from Vanessa who then met us on arrival to run through a few things about the cottage. She provided a very welcome hamper with a few essentials and tasty treats (for ourselves and our dog Ollie ! ). The vases of wild flowers were a really nice touch.
Kitchen very small but well equipped and perfectly fine for preparing breakfast and light snacks.
The little garden was well kept and nice and private. Possible suggestion would be to have something screening the refuse bins but it's a fairly minor point.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Very personal and warm welcome. A very charming and traditional cottage about 10 mins from the village centre and 5 mins north of Burford by car. Many charming and less touristy villages close by with easy access to the main Cotswolds Villages and attractions

Lovely comfortable cottage with everything we needed. Lovely touch with the hamper basket that even included a treat for the dog! Ideal location for exploring the Cotswolds with beautiful local walks and pubs within walking distance.

The cottage would benefit from updated furniture in both lounge and bedroom.
Apart from this we had a lovely stay.

A peaceful week spent in a beautiful area staying in this delightful little cottage.
A very cosy well presented home away from home. The owners take exceptional care of this property and have given admirable attention to detail.

A beautiful cottage and a warm welcome.
We enjoyed the thoughtful hamper and it was good to meet Vanessa ,who had been in touch via email and text and then popped in to show us around. She was also nearby if we had needed anything.
The cottage is in a lovely location, and has a pretty, well looked after garden, large enough to have our family to visit for a picnic on the lawn.
The Wychwood Wild Garden is within walking distance of the cottage and is well worth a visit.
We would certainly like to stay there again.

We had a relaxing weeks holiday at Bay tree cottage. A warm welcome but left alone to enjoy our rest afterwards with the knowledge we could call if required. Plenty of places to visit in the area and some super pubs near by.

We were thrilled when we arrived at Bay Tree Cottage. It provided everything we could want during our stay. Vanessa was very welcoming and had thought of everything. There were even treats, poo bags and bowls for our dog Daisy. For us bread, butter, milk, tea cakes, biscuits and a very welcome bottle of wine.

We very much enjoyed our stay in Bay Tree Cottage. Beautiful location, very dog friendly.
Only one concern. The gate would not shut properly and as it is right onto the road quite dangerous for our dog. The pegs provided were not secure.

We got caught in heavy rain in Burford but after contacting Vanessa she was happy for us to go into the cottage a little early. Vanessa came and visited a short time after to introduce herself and told us a little bit of history about the cottage which was nice. There was some nice welcome touches like milk, bread, butter etc which were much appreciated. The bed was the best bed we have ever slept in away from home. The cottage is in a great location to visit lots of different places so a great base. Wifi was very good, we would definitely recommend this cottage to anyone.

We had a great week in Bay Tree Cottage. It is in an Oxfordshire village with 4 good pubs within walking distance. In the kitchen was a welcome pack with bread, butter, milk etc. Vanessa popped in to say ‘hello’ and give us some information about the area. We were made to feel very at home in Shipton and will definitely return.

We had an enjoyable stay at Bay Tree Cottage, Vanessa the owner welcomed us. Although situated close to a busy junction, the cottage is in a lovely location for walking and exploring the local area. The front garden was well maintained and lovely to sit and relax in after our walks.

Would definitely return to this area again.

We spent the most relaxing week at Bay Tree Cottage. All of our needs (and those of our dog) were catered for. The cottage is situated in the pretty village of Shipton under Wychwood. Plenty of walks nearby and 3 pubs within walking distance...All dog friendly. Vanessa the owner had thought of everything and provided a lovely welcome pack for us. She also made recommendations on places to visit. We couldn't have asked for more!

BayTree Cottage was all we hoped for and more. It was full of character, very clean and well presented in a quiet lovely village with three pubs/restaurants within walking distance .Burford was only ten minutes away with more shops pubs and eateries. Witney is the next nearest town with upmarket shops and supermarkets. The cottage was a great base for visiting all the Cotswold villages and towns we had planned to see.Vanessa the owner left lots of goodies for us and our dog Dylan and came to introduce herself bringing a bottle of Red Wine.which was much appreciated..After days of sightseeing we really enjoyed evenings watching TV in front of the cosy log burner.Thank you again Vanessa for everything and we will come again if we decide on another visit to the Cotswolds. Lovely cute cottage in a perfect location for exploring the nearby beautiful landscape and attractions. We were able to visit many places with our dog including the cotswolds wildlife park. The many touches at the cottage made this a home from home experience which we loved.

Bay Tree was a lovely cosy cottage for a short break. The owner was lovely and very welcoming. However, cottage was dusty and hadn't been cleaned properly in a long time which was very dissapointing considering the cost. Time to change the Housekeeper I think.
