Perched in an elevated position above the charming town of Bowness-on-Windermere, Old Belfield offers sweeping views across the wooded valley to the sparkling waters of Lake Windermere—best enjoyed from the window seat in the master bedroom. Imagine nothing more idyllic than relaxing here, watching cruisers and yachts gliding below.
Nestled between the lake to the west and scenic mountain trails to the east, Old Belfield is the ideal base for discovering all the beauty and adventure the Lake District has to offer. As evening falls, the cobbled streets of Bowness come alive with inviting restaurants serving global cuisine and traditional pubs offering live music and local ales—all just a short stroll away.
By day, the bustling village brims with boutique stores, climbing and gift shops, art galleries, and attractions such as the ever-popular World of Beatrix Potter.
Old Belfield is a charming Grade II listed cottage dating back to 1800, tastefully furnished to reflect its period character. The lounge serves as the heart of the home, featuring an ornate ceiling, a leather L-shaped sofa around a Smart TV and wood-burning stove, and two swivel armchairs in the window where you can gaze out onto the surrounding woodland—home to an array of wildlife and birds.
The galley kitchen is fully equipped with everything needed to prepare a family meal, including an electric oven, gas hob, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washer/dryer, and microwave. Meals can be enjoyed in the separate dining room, which continues the elegant décor with another ornate ceiling and a cosy open fire.
Upstairs, two comfortable bedrooms provide a restful retreat. The master bedroom features a king-size bed, a sink, and a window seat with views across to the lake. A spacious single bedroom completes the sleeping arrangements. The family bathroom includes a shower over the bath, a hand basin, and a WC.
All gas, electricity, bed linen, and towels are included. The property also offers private parking for two cars. A cot and highchair are available on request. Outside, the patio area with table and chairs, along with a wooded garden and two lawned areas, provides ample space to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings.
Please Note: Old Belfield is over 200 years old and is a listed building. As such, it features some uneven floors and steep, open staircase. It may not be suitable for those with mobility issues, and young children should be supervised at all times. The wooded garden, while delightful, includes steep sections and natural features like mushrooms and berries—please keep an eye on children while exploring.
