We really enjoy staying in properties with character and Daweswood certainly delivers in that respect. The house is beautifully positioned in its own extensive wooded grounds and there’s plenty of outdoor space for dining and watching the wildlife - we saw red squirrels several times. The house is impressive inside though the dark wood panelling downstairs may not be to everyone’s taste -we liked it. There were many interesting features throughout including original leaded-light windows and some beautiful stained glass. The kitchen was well-equipped and easy to work in. Rooms were characterfully furnished but some of the furniture was not very comfortable. Lighting in some rooms was too subdued for our tastes but that added to the character. We would have liked more information about the history of the house but couldn’t find any. The thick walls mean that the house stays cool even on hot days.

A great place to stay especially for a large party who are prepared to accept some idiosyncrasies.

They are intending to do some upgrades at the end of the season which will further enhance the property and character. We hope we can welcome you back again in the future.

Three generations of our family stayed here for a wonderful week in this super property.
Super comfy beds for a great night's sleep after days out in the outdoors.
