To stay at Elizabeth Castle is an adventure not to be missed. Sitting one mile off the coast of Jersey’s main town of St Helier, the Castle apartment sits within one of Jersey’s most iconic locations surrounded by the sea twice a day. The apartment, split over two levels, overlooks the parade ground and the Governor’s House where both Sir Walter Raleigh and King Charles II stayed. With a recently refurbished kitchen and shower room on the lower level, the apartment sleeps up to six people with a double sofa bed in the living area, and upstairs a spacious bedroom with one double and two single beds.

We had a fantastic stay and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The location was wonderful and we enjoyed the dramatic weather. Chris was very helpful and efficient. He was also very knowledgeable about the castle. The kitchen was well equipped and we enjoyed watching a few episodes of Bergerac. The place was clean and tidy however there was a leak from the storm which hadn’t been fixed.

A plug/sink strainer for the kitchen sink
Oil/ welcome hamper
Toiletries for the bathroom.
Bigger bed…. ESP for people who are over 6ft…….

Stayed for 2 nights in October, great location for peace and quiet. Really enjoyed exploring the castle after everyone else had gone home. Would recommend it especially if you have children to play hide and seek

What a fabulous place to stay! You can be the queen of your own castle just make sure you plan your trips off the island via the amazing Betty the amphibious vehicle. Only niggle was the DVD player didn't work so we couldn't watch old episodes of Bergerac while we were there!

It was an amazing place to stay. A once in a life time experence. The staff were so helpful a big shout out for Chris and George. We would totally recomend it to every one to give it a try. We will be booking again next year.I

What can I say, it’s stunning, everything about the Elizabeth Castle apartment experience exceeded our expectations. The island was bigger than we expected with so many nooks, crannies and beaches to explore. It’s amazing being given the keys to the castle. Our children weren’t that into the historical and heritage aspects (of which there is plenty to take in and learn if you want to) but they loved having private beaches, battlements and space to roam. We were also so impressed with the apartment itself, so much bigger than it looks in the photos and I’ve never stayed in such a well provided for self catering holiday let, very much a home from home feel to it. All the staff were wonderful; helpful, kind and enthusiastic. There are of course practical challenges to living on a small island, but the causeway is walkable twice a day and the ferry/bus is great the rest of the time. And what does it matter anyway, you’re living in your own castle on an island! Amazing!

A cool place to be for those who like a location that is away from town! Some might find its limited access inconvenient but we loved being cut off at times as it added to the castle experience. This attractive apartment is very comfortable and the kitchen is very well equipped. It is not possible to go out at night, unless the low tides worked and was light enough to do the 20 minute causeway walk, but it is a self catering stay. The castle is a extremely interesting visit. The Wi-Fi is quite weak and sometimes difficult to get a connection - again great for a peaceful and simple stay in lovely surroundings.

We had a wonderful family stay at Elizabeth Castle to celebrate an anniversary. Laura from Heritage lets was amazing in helping us book the dates we required and came back to my initial request extremely quickly with all the information we needed. My daughter's (ages 6 and 8) loved getting the duck over and exploring the Castle after everyone else had left. The apartment is very spacious, clean and has everything you need for a short stay, or longer! There was even a bottle of bubbly left in the fridge for us to celebrate our anniversary which was a lovely personal touch. We had really unique and special stay, definitely one to remember. We would highly recommend a stay at the Castle!

We had a really fantastic stay and just loved the experience of being on our own little haven.

We loved all the wildlife especially the birds.

We enjoyed our stay and would recommend Elizabeth Castle to others.

The staff on the Ducks, to Matt from Jersey Heritage, who gave us a tour and Chris the guardian made us feel very welcome and looked out for us.

We also met King Charles 11

Myself, my husband, our 7 year old son and my mum stayed on Elizabeth Castle in September. It was the most fabulous experience. The first night due to the winds we had to be back by 3pm and the Castle was closed from then to the public, we had the whole place to ourselves. The next day we got to explore the beach off the Sully Port.
The accomodation was beautiful and very comfortable. All the staff working at the Castle were amazing. Nigel was on hand if we needed anything and he was fantastic.
My son was spun out by the tides and we loved watching the water come up and surround the Castle, so many amazing photos and memories.
We would recommend this for anyone looking at something different to experience.

Fantastic experience for my family. Accommodation was lovely: clean,bright,practical and well equipped. The highlight was going for a walk around the castle after dark. Having the whole day to explore the castle grounds and experience the tide both in and out was amazing. I would recommend this site to friends and family and would look into staying at another heritage site in the future.,

An excellent place to explore Elizabeth Castle, lots of time to explore and wander around the whole site. Brilliant fishing off the breakwater provided evening entertainment.
A thoroughly relaxed and enjoyable weekend.
The sofa bed was so uncomfortable we slept in the cushions on the floor.

Amazing opportunity to explore the beautiful and historic Elizabeth Castle. Staying at the castle meant we could take our time to engage with all the exhibits and living history performances available that week, all of which we revisited several times. Travel back to St Helier was straightforward, either a short ride on the amphibious ferry, or a walk over the causeway. Shops and restaurants are then within easy reach. The apartment is well equipped and is very comfortable. The absolute best part of our stay was being able to explore the castle, its beaches and breakwater, after other visitors had left for the day. We swam in the sea from what felt like our own private beach, and watched boats and shipping come and go as the sun set.

We were a group of 5 people from China. Before we arrived at the castle, Chris gave us a briefing on the castle accommodation and reminded us of what to bring. Upon arrival at the castle accommodation, Chris patiently introduced and answered all our questions.
Through the week, I found out that Chris is the soul of this castle accommodation. Chris didn't treat us in a special way, just like he treats everyone who comes to stay at the castle. But his love for the castle touched everyone.

There are no heroes who fall from the sky, only mortals who step up to the plate.

Chris, you are the deepest mark we left during our stay at the castle. The castle was lucky to have you.

Beautiful location and views - walking around in evening we were all astounded in terms of thinking of history ie what we were stood on -as well as the panoramic views .

Weather was excellent and all JT staff met throughout our stay could not have been more helpful and considerate (and it was good to meet with Charles II on the castle tour!)

Would recommend to anyone as a treat and as a completely different form of break when compared to a normal apartment / hotel stay

Only minor comment would be that a second upstairs toilet / sink would have been very convenient - but we understand that the age and previous use of the apartment means that this is not easy thing to add .

The Guardien placed the keys in my hand and from that point we quite literally have the keys to the castle.

As soon as the last ferry heads to land the whole place was ours and better still when the last of the causeway drops below the tide. Our holiday apartment comes with right to roam across the entire island.

We enjoyed poached eggs on the morning sat atop the castle tower with views of the bay. We had our own main cannon battery. We had our own beach. We had nazi bunkers a go-go. The place is even pretty good when the public are allowed in!

Do you like castles? Would you like one of your own? Well clear off- I want this one.

We had the most amazing stay at Elizabeth Castle, it was such an adventure for us and our three young children. All the staff were brilliant, letting the children help take down the flags, marching with the militia and sitting by the skipper on the duck. We all had the best time. I can’t recommend it highly enough, it was brilliant! Having the castle to yourself is such a great experience and one I would recommend to anyone.

Stayed in Elizabeth Castle for three nights. The apartment had everything we needed for our stay (adults & children) and was a very comfortable place, with ample towels, good quality beds and bedding, wonderfully comfortable sofas, a well stocked kitchen and a good shower. Then of course, there's the location - surely the whole reason for staying here. Elizabeth Castle didn't disappoint. There is so much history to the site, and being able to explore the castle, by yourself, was a truly unforgettable experience! Our children absolutely loved it (as did we!). All staff we very friendly, kind, knowledgeable and helpful. A truly incredible experience.

Chris the castle guardian was fantastic, very knowledgeable and helpful in every way. He went out of his way to make sure we were safe and warm as we experienced a massive storm during our stay.
The experience was great, the only negative is the quality of the beds. The mattresses all need replacing as they are very tired and not conducive to a good night's sleep.
