Saltwater is on a quiet, private road and within a few minutes walk of East Wittering village centre, either along the seafront or through the village roads. This detached seafront house has glorious sea views and direct beach access. It has a super first floor deck area for relaxing and appreciating the uninterrupted panoramic views across the Solent.

We enjoyed our stay. Lots of indoor and outdoor space and comfy sofas. We love the little path to the beach although this would be tricky for the very young or old. There are some aspects that need attention. The patio (broken crazy paving) and outside shower needed cleaning. The side gates need mending. There was no parasol while we were there. We always find the fridge too cold but Baileys think this is because of the heat from the aga. The aga does take some getting used to .

This is the 3rd stay at saltwater that has all what you need for a long and short stay with unobstructed views of the Solent from the 1st floor terrace and bedrooms.
With access to the beach from the garden.
We had perfect weather throughout the week with extraordinary sunsets between 7-8.
I would not hesitate to recommend this property.


I would like to add there is ample towels that the host arranges with the linens to be collected in separated bags that are professionally cleaned by a laundry after each guest leaves on check out day.

We enjoyed our week at Saltwater. The location is great with the path down to the beach . The garden is lovely too. We had a blustery week and the garden is very sheltered and good for ball games. We enjoy being able to walk into the village and to be able to head straight to the beach from the house.

We were disappointed, however, that snags from last year had not been resolved. The fridge is too cold and liquids freeze in the salad drawers at the bottom of the fridge . It was the same last year. There were still problems with the flush in the upstairs toilet and a dripping tap in the bathroom downstairs. The blinds also don’t work very well.

THE HOUSE IS WELL LOCATED AND HAS ALL THE MAKINGS BUT IS IN POOR (AND SOMETIMES RATHER
DANGEROUS ) CONDITION. THE FIRST IMPRESSION IS OF PARKING BY A TOTALLY DILAPIDATED GARAGE WITH AN ALMOST ILLEGIBLE HOUSE NAMEBOARD..
ACCESS TO THE FRONT DOOR IS THEN VIA A CRUMBLING FOOTPATH.
THE INSIDE OF THE HOUSE NEEDS A GREAT DEAL OF REDECORATION. THERE IS ONLY 1 PICTURE ON ALL THE WALLS.
THE FURNISHING IS GENERALLY ACCEPTABLE BUT THE LARGE OLD SITTING ROOM SETTEE IS VERY DIFFICULT TO STAND UP FROM. THE FIRST FLOOR BALCONY IS GOOD.

We had a lovely stay at Saltwater. Cosy and great location.
Downsides were; only providing 1 dishwasher tablet for 3 nights ( the dishwasher is very small so needs to go on everyday), having to strip the beds on day of departure and providing half used toilet rolls.

We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Saltwater. The location is superb with a sheltered south facing garden and path to to the sea. It is also so easy to walk into East Wittering where there is a great selection of shops and cafes. Our weather was a bit mixed but there was room for our family party of 8 to relax inside and when the weather picked up we could take full advantage of the beach. We struggled a bit with the aga but got the hang of it in the end. In a heat wave it might be prove more problematic but it made it nice and warm when we came in from the sea. The fridge was too cold and froze our salad vegetables but we have reported it so hopefully it will get fixed. We also reported light bulbs that didn’t work which were sorted the same day. Everything was comfortable and well arranged with plenty of sofas and a lovely big dining table and very good outside furniture. We also all found the beds very comfortable with plenty of hanging space. We’re looking forward to coming back next year! Thank you.

Saltwater is the ideal holiday home for a large family wanting to enjoy a holiday right next to the sea and a lovely beach. The views from the balcony are fantastic and the location of the property superb. Whilst Saltwater is an older property it has charm and the rooms are all of a good size and the kitchen is well equipped. We had such a good time we have booked again for next year.

Second time in this property. The access on and off the beach is not suitable for the elderly. The stairs make a noise so wake everyone up. As with most properties clearing products are not provided as with bin bags.

This was our third stay at Saltwater and once again it did not disappoint. Such a great location with fantastic views from the balcony. We really loved the improvements made to the garden. It is such an ideal property for a large family and the kitchen, in particular, is very well equipped. This year we had a small problem with a light and Bailey’s rectified this very quickly. We very much look forward to visiting again next year.

Saltwater is in a perfect position: right on the beach, with great sea views, and just out of the main breakwaters used by day trippers.
The house is clean and well equipped. The layout inside is a little illogical with the dining area being the opposite end of the house to the kitchen - good for daily step count I guess.
Nice enclosed garden area sheltered from the wind.

Small irritations:
The garden gates were badly in need of attention: they had dropped badly and were very hard to move which was annoying as we were containing a toddler. Also the small path from the garden to the beach was badly overgrown and we had to enlist the help of a beach hut owner with a strimmer to make this bearably usable.

Off road parking for several cars, a sunny front and rear garden (a handy washing line), a utility room with washing machine and tumble dryer and you are through to the warm and inviting kitchen. The warmth comes from the Aga which provides the heat and hot water. You quickly learn how to use the Aga and it is fun (although not something I would want to do all the time!)

There are two large bedrooms downstairs, a living room with a football table, which the children loved. The TV is limited and I would recommend taking a fire stick or similar with you. On the ground floor you will also find a conservatory with large dining table and bathroom with separate shower.

From the conservatory you enter the back garden with a direct access to the beach. In high tide you can walk along the stones but in low tide, there is fun to be had playing on the sand.

The upstairs has a fabulous balcony and seating area, in which you can enjoy the amazing and far reaching views. There are a further two bedrooms and family bathroom.

The property is well equipped and outside of school holidays, good value for money. The local shops are approximately 10 minutes walk.

Excellent for a relaxing family holiday.

Saltwater is perfectly located with direct access to the beach, just wonderful! The house is lovely, spacious and clean with toys and games provided which is a bonus for young children.
The house was lovely and warm during the cold days and nights however, I would question if it could be too hot during the summer months as the Aga is constantly on. Not a negative, more a consideration.
The two downsides for me were the double beds were so hard. I like a soft bed so will suit some just not me and the stairs are very loud and creaky which woke my 4 year old twins a couple of times.
Taking all the above into account I would still recommend Saltwater, particularly if you like a firm bed, we had fun and the cost was reasonable.

Perfect location right on the beach with East Wittering town centre only a stroll along the beach. The house was very clean and well equipped (apart from anything for the log burner - you need to buy everything yourselves and aren’t informed) very spacious and a great place for friends to relax and enjoy a long weekend, wish we could of stayed longer. Saltwater is in an excellent position. But, if the beach huts in front are being used ‘direct access’ is severely curtailed.
The house needs ‘upgrading’ and the Aga makes the kitchen extremely hot nor is it very conducive to ‘holiday ‘ cooking.
If the weather had been hotter, we would have roasted.
This also causes dangerously hot water in the bathrooms.
As we were unable to book ‘holiday cleaning’, I would suggest a working vacuum cleaner and broom should be supplied.
It was disappointing that the ‘linen change’ was left at the front door.

Thank you for your review, Saltwater is indeed in a superb location, the beach huts in front of the property are mostly privately owned and are spaced to allow access between them, we are sorry to hear the ones in front of the house blocked your direct access to the beach. The Aga is a welcome addition to the property and gives the house that traditional feeling, it is maintained and serviced regularly, however, we will make sure your comments are passed on to the owners about the Aga and the hot water. We do make the beds up for Guest's arrival as the properties are empty then, the mid stay Linen change is normally left in sealed bags to allow as much less contact as possible for the Linen Team as some of the large houses have many Guests staying. We do hope this didn't spoil your holiday too much and we hope to see you again.

We all loved the house, it has a nice homely feel and the position is perfect. It was a family holiday and the children were able to play in the garden and go to the beach a few steps away. The inside dining area is big and light, and we enjoyed eating outside as we were incredibly lucky with the weather.
Unfortunately the "Aga" is unbelievably slow - even on full power it took many, many hours to cook anything in the oven and the hobs are just as bad. Luckily we had a camp stove with us which meant we could eat the same day! Also there are many trip hazards which are dangerous for toddlers and old ladies.

Our first family get together since lockdown restrictions were lifted. The house was just what we expected. Two younger members of the family loved being so close to the sea. The view from the first floor balcony in the evening was lovely, seeing all the lights from all the yachts and ships out at sea.

The position of the house is great- right on the beach with beach access and a 10 minute walk to the shops. We did have a great time. The layout of the house is illogical- the dining room is a long way from the kitchen but we did get used to it. This could be a Wow house- it has the potential to be- but would need refreshed carpets/painting/features. Plenty of room for 6 of us. Best views from the landing. Clean enough and very warm because there is an aga you can't switch off! This takes some getting used to if you are not used to it- there is no other oven so cooking is slow and needs more thought- you can't quickly cook something without planning we found. I would imagine the aga would make the house super hot i summer- in October it was obviously fine though. Beds were comfy and bedrooms all a really decent size. Well equipped kitchen in terms of crockery etc but literally no food items- not even a sachet of salt- so go prepared!
I would imagine if you went as a group of 8 that you would miss not having a separate downstairs loo- there were times when we were waiting to go to the loo when others had come out of the sea and were bathing/showering.

Overall we enjoyed it and would go again- the lounge is cozy but be aware there is only seating for 2 in the kitchen and we did spend a lot of time carrying food form the kitchen to the dining area and they are some distance apart. We have stayed at other properties along tis beach front and this one is nice and private and you don't get people nosing in which is nice!

Saltwater is a lovely house situated in a prime position. Views from the balcony were stunning and with access onto the beach made this house a real hit with the family. As a result we had a most enjoyable stay and have already booked for next year.

Would be good with normal oven rather than Aga. Also the staircase creaks badly
It would be good to have a decent sized
Television ad they are not so expensive these days.

We understand your preference for a normal oven if you are not familiar with an Aga. However, this oven is mentioned on all the property details which are always a good guide as to what is provided. Cooking and heating not working properly and aga style oven makes kitchen so hot because it needs to be turned right up to cook anything at all and loses heat immediately. Garden and outside shower needed maintenance. Downstairs shower doesn’t drain. Small niggles which let down a house in a brilliant location.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, we understand that you stayed during a heatwave but the AGA is a wonderful addition to the property and adds that little extra heat in the winter giving the property that 'homely' feel. Thank you for bringing the shower to our attention and we are getting maintenance to investigate the problem.

Lovely, comfortable property in perfect location. Excellent views from balcony. Bright, spacious dining area. Aga cooking was not to our liking and made the kitchen very warm. Not ideal if toddlers in your group, as whole aga is permanently hot.

Was staying in another accommodation and wanted a short break for rest of family (4 adults 2 teenagers and 2 toddlers) to stay to celebrate a 70th birthday. Property ideal - big conservatory for family meal. Bedrooms ideal 2 up 2 down. Toddlers loved toys. Son in law kites access straight on beach. Beautiful view of sea from balcony.
