Jaknelee is just to the west of East Wittering village and only 50m from the beach. It offers comfortable accommodation and is perfect for family holidays on the seaside and for exploring the many coastal paths and walks of Chichester Harbour's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Jacknelee is perfect for a family with children. It's spacious, in a wonderful location and there's nothing fancy about it to worry about getting damaged! Downstairs has wooden floors and tiled kitchen and bathroom so spillages aren't a problem. If you're taking an under three year old you'd need to take folding step and toilet seat perhaps as these aren't provided. We were there for Christmas and our grandchildren stayed for one night. They absolutely loved it. I can imagine that in the summer it would be heavenly - with the beach only about 200 yds away. East Wittering village (10/15 mins walk) is one of our favourite places - friendly, some interesting shops, and the Shore pub was super-welcoming on Christmas Eve. Rosario's restaurant does really good tapas dishes - don't be put off by the less than impressive entranceway!

Very spacious converted bungalow, large back garden perfect for summer BBQ's.
Two nice sized bedrooms, one small bedroom upstairs and small washroom toilet also. All in all plenty of space for a family stay. Downstairs there's a shower bathroom, shower a little weak but gets you wet. I understand this is a work in progress. Kitchen is equipped with gas hob, electric oven, dishwasher and washing machine, it also has all the pots, pans and utensils you'll need if cooking from home.. very airy feel as it looks out to the garden and fields beyond. A very nice through lounge with dining table chairs and classically styled furniture. Lounge room with WiFi, TV and modern style furniture making it a very cosy little home.
15mins and your in the village, 5mins and your walking along the seafront.
We enjoyed our stay very much and always the Bailey's team will bend over backwards to help with anything you need.
All being well, back next year.

Loved the location and all the quirky elements. Loved reading about its history.

Stayed here as a family of four.

Only issues
- Were dropping the keys back at 10 am felt really early.

- Lastly the place wasn’t overly clean and we actually cleaned the ground floor windows on the inside and outside as otherwise we couldn’t enjoy the views.

The house is ideally located and offers lovely views to the rear and a short walk to the beach.
The house is basic but that is what we loved about it! We didn’t have to worry about coming back from the beach covered in sand!
There are a couple of minor improvements, that I would like to see.
A washing line would be wonderful and better blinds in the bedrooms! It was light by 4:30 meaning we were up by 5!
I would recommend, for a family holiday and a good base.

We enjoyed our stay and we were very fortunate with the weather.The accommodation was comfortable and it was pleasant to relax in the garden….we even had a rabbit for company occasionally! We would definitely consider a return visit.

Jaknelee is in a prime position 50 metres from the sea front, ideal for people of all ages. Five of us had a comfortable stay, with a garden laid to lawn overlooking open countryside, and parking for three cars. The weather was perfect for our stay, and the beach and garden, with some local walking, were all that we needed for a relaxing break. The shops and restaurants nearby in East Wittering were a short walk away. I would definitely recommend this venue for a quiet relaxing break with comfortable beds. While it is suitable for young children, the garden is not enclosed, with open access round the side of the house, so supervision of them is necessary.

Whilst in an excellent location this property has seen better days and may well be waiting for the demolition crews that are getting ever closer in this part of Wittering. There were numerous niggling minor maintenace issues that together let the place down. Every tap in the house needs a new washer for instance ! But perhaps the rental level reflected that ?

Very comfortable house in a great location. Really easy access to the beach, which is great for walks, including into the huge natural harbour area just off to the west. Can easily walk into East Wittering for shopping and cafes. Lots other interesting places nearby to drive to but mostly stayed within (long) walking distance as it's just so lovely to explore the area on foot. House is clean and comfy and nice to come back to after a long day of walking. All in all a very enjoyable, relaxing stay.

Only 1 shower and it is very weak on water pressure, so takes ages to wash.
Washing machine stinks and needs a good clean.
Kitchen tap spurts out hot water so soaks everywhere.
Bedrooms need better blinds or curtains
We've stayed here previously and made these suggestions but nothing gets updated by the owner, comments in the paper feedback folder at the house all have these comments going back years !
Come on Baileys ask the owners to upgrade !
Plus is big garden and location on outskirts of town and super close to beach.....but that's definitely what you're paying for.

Hi lovely house to stay in and great location. it would be really good to have normal curtains rather than vertical blinds in the bedrooms that would block out some of the light early in the mornings plus the mattresses are very hard thanks

Location is perfect for beach lovers and walkers a like. Very close to the beach and the footpath to West Wittering beach. Lots of parking , unfortunately the flower bed was a little over grown but we managed to park a couple of cars no problem. Also extra parking to the front..Large garden to front and back. Loved watching the bunny rabbits in the back garden at breakfast time.View to the back great as uninterrupted views over the fields. Upstairs sink needs a little TLC, Baileys informed. 3 Adults and we all had a great time.

I have reviewed Jacknelee previously and for location and accommodation I cannot fault it. Yes, it is basic but I have three children coming back sandy from the beach, I don't want to worry about cream carpets and sofas.
If you are looking for a great base, just 2 minutes walk to the beach, this is for you. If you are looking for luxury - look elsewhere. That is not a criticism. Jacknelee plays an important role in the market and is an affordable family base in a fantastic location.
What is a criticism is the cleaning. This is not the fault of the owners but of the cleaning firm and the managing agents! I see there are other reviews complaining about the same thing and in the current climate it is NOT acceptable!
The bin in the kitchen could be smelt from the front door. There was a fresh bin bag but underneath was an inch thick with bubbling green and black slime and mould. When I removed the bin bag I could not believe the stench. How could anyone place a clean bag on top of that! The oven was full of grease at the bottom. I sent pictures to the managing agents who suggested sending a cleaner back! I did not want a cleaner in the cottage whilst we were there, with Covid restrictions in place. The bathroom floor had hairs and grime on it, the soap dish had soap scum etc. In light of Covid, I am concerned at the level of cleaning being undertaken. Reading similar reviews about the level of cleaning makes me cross. Baileys - you need to sort this out!! We have been customers for over 10 years and I have never had to complain about the level of cleaning.
I don't mind that the property has some damp patches - it is near the sea and is to be expected. I don't mind that the house is basic - that is what I have paid for. I do mind that the house is not clean!

Some of the decor is very tired looking and needs to be updated.
It also needs to have a thorough clean as it was very dusty and there were numerous cobwebs when we arrived.

The conditions are poor in the bathrooms (mould growing all around the bath and shower), walls unpainted. The beds are very hard and uncomfortable, slats are broken. The placement is perfect and can see the sea from the main bedroom. The owners should:
- remove all the clutter, and follow Government COVID-19 guidelines.
- change all mattresses.
- renovate the main bathroom and insert shaving plug to charge electric toothbrush.
- remove all unnecessary kitchen products.
- remove old sun loungers.
- replace the outdoor washing line (rusty and totally unusable).

Make someones stay feel the house is clean, comfortable and cost effective. Will not return.

The kitchen was adequate and in need of an update. Some kitchen utensils needed replacing. Outside clothes drying line needed. Other than that the house itself was great.

Kitchen unit doors conflict, especially the Dishwasher and the dishwasher filter really needed a good clean.

Jaknelee is ideally located to stroll along the Witterings beach and to venture into the village. The view to the rear over farmland is wonderful. The accommodation has all the essentials required for a holiday. We had a lovely week and can’t wait for next year.

The bed/mattress in double room is very uncomfortable. The downstairs toilet is so extremely small that my mother could not use it and had to go home as she is 86 and uses a walker. Perhaps some consideration could be given to making this more usable with grab rails and a comfort height toilet. The TV did not work on normal channels so we used our Netflix account to watch movies and the keys to the rear door could not be found. We always enjoy our time in the Witterings, this home is perfectly situated with a large garden. Very clean and tidy.

The house is a good home from home for grandchildren. The redecoration and updated TV are welcome. The ongoing work outside meant the bathroom fan was not working but this didnt matter. We are seeking to reserve for next year.

The location of Jaknelee is fabulous. The beach is 1 minute walk with a sea-view from the master bedroom to the front. The rear of the property backs on to fields and you cannot help but relax in such a wonderful setting. It is a 10 minute walk to the local shops and the bakers and sweet shops make the walk worthwhile for the children!
The property itself is perfect for families. The house was a great size for our family of 5. The furniture is dark colours and is easy to wipe clean! You don't have to worry about coming back wet and sandy from the beach as the floors downstairs are tiled and there is a handy porch for wet suits, body boards and buckets and spades! There is off road parking for a number of cars and the road itself is private, with extremely limited traffic.
There is a dinning table with a wipe clean cloth and plenty of chairs and the kitchen has a washing machine, dryer, dishwasher and microwave.
The living room has plenty of chairs, a couple of tables, a reasonable size TV, DVD player and good WIFI (which is good in every room in the house).
There are three bedrooms, the master (with a King Size bed) to the front has a sea view between the houses. The smallest room has a view of the fields to the rear and the sea to the front. This room is big enough for a bed, small table and small set of drawers. The back bedroom has twin beds, table, drawers and a lovely view of the fields to the rear. The upstairs is carpeted and what a wonderful bonus to have the bedding and towels included in the rental price. The only criticism I have is that there are only basic blinds in the bedrooms and they let in a lot of light.
If you are looking for modern and new, this is not the holiday for you, but if you want a good sized comfortable accommodation, in an ideal location without having to worry about the children being sandy or eating an ice lolly, then look no further!
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
