This pretty terraced cottage on Romans Landing in West Wittering is a short stroll to the sandy beaches, looks over the Crabbing Pond, and adjoins Snowhill Creek.

The cottage brims with charm and character, has a sunny coast-facing garden for al fresco weather, and an enclosed patio to the rear. The cottage has three bedrooms, one of which is a bunk bedroom.

Located on the National Trust's East Head, this coastguard's cottage is in an idyllic spot and is a beautiful getaway retreat.

There is limited parking for one car in the private road outside the property.

Sleeps 6.
Near the beach.
WiFi.
No smoking.
No pets, sorry.
Linen is included

Perfect!

We love everything about this serene cottage based in the most awesome location as evidenced by the repeat reviews. Any minor negative outlined in below reviews isn't an issue. Such a wonderful base to return to after a day out and the kitchen is fab - fully equipped and (amazingly) with fresh dry food basics. A real rarity for a holiday rental.
We can't wait to return!

Loved this cottage - which we last rented over 30 years ago! Very comfortable and well equipped - although everything tucked away in cupboards so you do have to explore to find things. Almost everything you could need is there. Perfect for the children who love bunks and a lovely front bedroom for the grown ups. Intervening bedroom is linked to the children's room - fine for occasional visitor such as other family. The layout is clear on the website. Important to accept there is a single bathroom with no full shower downstairs - and the stairs are perhaps not for the very old or very young. Lovely long front garden and small patio out the back. So close to the harbour and beach. Lovely walks. Car parking space in quiet lane was always available somewhere along the row. We didn't need to use our car much - excellent bus services to next village and Chichester. Village shops in WW - a short walk - fine for essentials and more. Bigger supermarkets will deliver but appreciate guidance. Really appreciated the extra weekly bin emptying.

Thank you for leaving a review about the cottage, it was so nice to welcome you back after a long break. the cottage is indeed in a superb location for the beach, harbour and with some lovely walks. It is popular with old and young alike, and is great for families with the secure front garden. We do hope to see you again at the Witterings, perhaps not so long a gap next time.

We all love this cottage! We stayed last year too!

The cottage has a beautiful feel to it but we felt it was in need of some tlc. The bed linen needs to be updated as the sheets and pillow cases are too small. I know that’s a minor thing and It didn’t stop us from having the most amazing time. Thank you.

We have been trying to book a weeks holiday at Coastguard Cottages for 2-3 years because they are in a perfect location for both coast and country with East Head a 10minute walk in this area of outstanding natural beauty. The cottage itself was traditionally furnished but with all of the ‘mod cons’ you need. The cottage garden is a lovely quiet area to sit and chat in the evening over a glass of wine. The only drawbacks are that the toilet/bathroom is downstairs and the shower is hand held over the bath which makes it difficult for anyone with mobility problems. I would also recommend guests to take mosquito spray as there are quite a few around. All in all we had a lovely stay and we have already tried to rebook for next year although the letting season is quite short.

We are repeat visitors and found the cottage immaculately clean and recently redecorated.
The nearby beach and footpath round the harbour provided endless fun for the children and adults alike!
I'm sure we will return.

This is a wonderful house, full of character, and very comfortable. The garden is pretty. The location is ideal for the beach and walks - no need to take the car. There are plenty of places to explore on foot from the cottage. We had a wonderful week.

Negatives: there was banging coming from building works next door on 2 of the days.

A very restful cosy cottage a stone's throw from the creek and a ten minute walk to the sea. It has a beautifully planted large front garden and a super cute backyard. It's quite bright inside as cottages go with a modern fully stocked kitchen and has a great bookshelf too! It was a pleasure to return there after a day out. A few negatives: it stipulates the use of the dishwasher but no tablets were provided and there were only two bin liners for the small bin which wasn't enough for a week's stay. Oh and the bathroom door handle's a bit shonky! Would happily return though the prices have been raised for 2021.

The cottage furnishings need attention they were well worn if not scruffy. Security was a problem the bedroom window in the third bedroom cannot be closed and is accessible from outside. The stair are dangerous with no hand rail as we are getting on we had to be very cautious. The lady next door who was younger mentioned that she had fallen, luckily was unhurt. Parking on weekend as difficult we had a note to leave in the car, but many cars had these notes and the owners were not staying in the cottages.

Dear Mr Ingram, Thank you very much for taking the time to leave your review and we are very disappointed to hear your concerns. When you collected your key from our local office, you will have received an envelope which includes useful information as well as our welcome sheet. We do ask that guests call the office as soon as they have arrived at their holiday property when they have had the opportunity to check things. We appreciate that guests may not initially see an issue that needs attention. There is where having the local office and also having given an emergency number to you in the welcome leaflets comes into action. Being local we really welcome guests popping in with any queries particularly should they felt there was a security issue. I will forward your comments to the owners who are always willing to attend to things that need attention. Regarding parking issues, the cards we issue for your parking should certainly ensure you have a space but I am sure you will appreciate that the position of that property is such a popular area for walkers and visitors, there may, on occasions be an issue. However, I will speak again to the owners who I am sure will want to contact other neighbours as it may be that some duplicate cards are around and a change may be required. Thank you again and we hope you do visit us again. BAILEYS

Thank you for leaving a review and we are sorry to hear you found the stairs tricky. Coastguard Cottages are well over 100 years old and obviously not as modern as new homes. This of course is part of the charm of the property, along with it's location so close to West Wittering beach. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay and do hope you will book with Baileys for your next visit to the area

A very happy stay, thank you.

The cottage is beautifully situated, near to the harbour, village and main beach. We loved our stay there. We had to provide some bathroom equipment ourselves, to make it fully usable, but otherwise the cottage was clean and well equipped.

A delightful cottage in one of the best and quietest locations in the area. A perfect base for coastal walks.
Private resident parking is a bonus. Whilst the whole area of East Head is undoubtedly very busy in the peak summer season as a designated "Blue Beach", this is a little gem tucked away from the crowds. We have stayed here twice and will definitely return.
The kitchen is well equipped and furniture very comfortable. A pretty garden and a small suntrap around the front porch area.
The bathroom is modernised with underfloor heating but misses a stand up shower, however a hand held fitting sufficed our needs.
