The location of Crab Rock is undeniably one of the best in St Ives, along with the secure under cover car park just a stride across the street, it's worth its weight in gold, giving a peace of mind that we have never had with other rental properties in St Ives.
The style, decor, comfort and facilities of the apartment gives Crab Rock a real air of quality with the four sets of bifold doors, three of which look directly out onto the views of the harbour and one to the side of Fish Street, being the cherry on the top of the cake.
Waking up to that view is really special, as is soaking up the ambience at all times of the day/evening from the living area.
Any noise from the Sloop Inn or Sports Bar was not a issue for us because when the bifold doors were open you were able to soak up the events happening around the St Ives Harbour, and at night when you wanted to close the bifold doors the soundproofing was very good and created a pleasantly peaceful setting.
We found during our stay that most people had left the pubs and bars by 11.30pm (our holiday dates 12th to 19th Jul) and the streets were surprisingly quiet.
The beds were comfortable and the shower facilities were good. The ensuite toilet in the main bedroom was very small. We are not large people and only just found enough room to manouvre about. The ensuite shower room size was a little better in size but still compact.
The kitchen was lovely and had modern equipment, instruction booklets could be found in the drawer under the hob, but we couldn't use the complimentary coffee pods because we couldn't find the instructions for the coffee machine. No great loss, just an observation for future renters. The metal chairs on the balcony were a little tired looking, probably because they are kept out on the balcony all year with the elements and the resident gulls.
Talking about the infamous gulls, these were a real negative to living so close to the sea. They could be heard *contantly* throughout the night, moving around on the roof and calling to their babies, which is definitely something to consider if you stay in July and need to have the bifold doors or windows open for cool air flow. Unfortunately for us, we had two fledglings, one that dropped onto the balcony for most of the week and the other on the internal open air stair case. This particular bird kept us awake for at least two nights, throwing itself against the glass door of the main bedroom as it tried to fledge. The excrement from these birds is constant. When we arrived the balcony was dirty with this mess and although we cleaned this ourselves the mess was back the following day.
Another negative to staying in such a central location was the seemingly daily refuse collections starting before 7am from the large public bins on the street below. Because the bifold doors of the main bedroom needed to be open for cool airflow, this noise did wake us up along with the other delivery vehicles supplying the eateries ahead of the day's tourism. The only solution to this noise would be an air conditioning unit to enable all doors and windows to be closed, which would lessen the noise from the gulls, bin men, and delivery vehicles.
During our stay, the water supply had to be turned off due to a water leak on the ground floor. After initially getting no answer on the phone line provided, we received a phone call from the voicemail we had left and were swiftly given another nearby apartment's facilities to use, so we cannot fault the customer service here. The water issue was resolved within the day, so we didn't have to move apartment.
There's no question that this apartment is fabulous and is in an amazing position, however the centralised location does have some serious drawbacks as outlined above.
On a final note, on arrival to the property we discovered the most amazing 'Welcome ' pack containing lots of treats for both humans and four-legged friends.

Crab Rock is in a great location but beware. Being that central comes with some noise from bars on an evening (mainly weekends). The Sloop is literally on the doorstep, as is a new sports bar, which is effectively part of the same block. However, the payoff is an amazing view, right at the heart of the harbour area and literally seconds walk to all the beaches and facilities.

If you want peace and quite, take this into account.

The property itself is spotless, modern and fantastically equipped. The main balcony can sit 4 with a small table and there are two juliette balcony's as well.

Bedrooms have super comfy beds and the largest has ensuite facilities.

Parking is of a good size (we have a BMW X3 and fitted well) and is directly outside the front door in a secure, underground locked car park. Note however, if you have a roof box/rack, you will need to remove it before entering.

Overall we loved it and would really recommend it....as long as you are comfortable with some noise for the amazing payoffs!

Lovely week in Crab Rock. This accommodation is in a wonderful location with stunning views. Lovely to wake up to the views of the harbour and the waves rolling in. Good sized. We were family of 4 adults and one dog. Great to have a full sized fridge freezer and a Quooker Tap. Bedrooms are a good size and comfortable. This is our second stay here. Would definitely stay in Crab rock again.

The perfect week in the most perfect accommodation. Crab Rock is in the best location to enjoy StIves. A huge bonus to have a good size parking space in a safe garage just opposite. You enter to a bright modern well equipped stylish apartment with the most spectacular views all around the bay. It was spotlessly clean. The beds are comfy and the showers are really powerful with plenty of hot water. It was also lovely and warm but luckily we had a beautiful week weather wise so we were able to open the bifolds and enjoy the spectacular views from the balcony. I think it’s a great location for all times of the year. If the weather is poor it’s just a joy to stay in and watch the world go by with the knowledge it’s only a few steps to the pubs, bars, restaurants and shops if you need supplies. Can’t recommend it enough. We just loved it .

First time with Cherished after many years holidaying in St Ives. We came with friends and their 2 teenage daughters and the configuration if the property worked perfectly. Everything was finished to a very high specification and the beds were luxuriously comfortable. Amazing location enhanced by such a great property inside. We absolutely loved it and the attention to detail, such as milk in the fridge and a welcome hamper just added to our experience. Can't wait to come back in 2026 and we will use Cherished as our first option when booking in the future.

We had a great week at the beginning of February in Crab Rock, the apartment is very modern, well equipped and comfortable, all fixtures and fittings are of a high quality and had everything we needed. The views over the harbour are great, it was so good to be able to watch all the comings and goings along the harbour front and also see the tide patterns throughout the week.
There are a couple of downsides to this property, one being the disappointing entrance to the property - I would say I does not give the best first impression on arrival and secondly there is a late night bar/club next door and this can be heard most nights until quite late, especially in the bedrooms on Fish Street side of the property.

Fantastic location on St Ives seafront just a short stroll from the many restaurants and shops. The apartment is very comfortable and well equipped with fantastic views. Probably one of the best around. We will certainly keep Crab Rock in mind for our next visit.
The only slight negative was the staircase leading to Crab Rock which appears to have its resident pigeons and there excrement deposits. This was a bit off putting on arrival but the staircase was cleaned during the week’s stay.

Amazing Views and location.
High spec apartment, clean and light.
The shared access to the property was not to the same standard as the accommodation.
The close proximity of the adjoining bar 'The Wreck', whilst courteous, wasn't pleasant coming out to half full beer glasses and cigarette butts right in the entrance in the mornings. The music in the pub/club was very loud and could be heard through the back bedroom.
This is outside of your control so not aimed at Cherished cottages, just an observation.
We would return to this property for its convenience and standards but we would have understand that the pub next door is also a night club too on some evenings. This may not be an issue for other holiday makers.

The location of this apartment was spot on. The views were amazing and took your breath away. The place itself was spacious and comfy with all the mod cons that's if you fancied doing your wasing before heading home. The process of booking was easy and the follow up emails were perfect. The instructions to get to the apartment were clear and spot on and you also got a parking space for your car. The place was in a great location less than two minutes and your in the fabulous streets of cafes and beautiful shops. There was a lovely Deli just 30 seconds from the door which had great food such as pastries, sandwiches and wraps and the people in there were so friendly. Back to the apartment the balcony we used every day for breakfast and lunch and there we could sit and enjoy the views and watching the dogs on the beach having the best of times. We really can't wait to come back next year and this is the perfect location to venture out from. We decided to park the car for the week and we still had much to do around St Ives .. we even took the train in to St Erth which was via the beach coast line from St Ives lovely little trip out.
The bedrooms were beyond comfy it was a shame to come back to my own bed! Kitchen had all you needed from two ovens, Mircowave and large fridge and freezer. The showers were modern and clean with fluffy white towels. I could stand under the rain shower for hours but we had the lovely St Ives to visit.

We had a lovely stay at Crab Rock - if you love being right in the middle of the holiday buzz with a lovely view, then this is a great central location. From the lovely modern fit out and amenities to the very thoughtful welcome pack, you have all you may need for a super lush holiday. There is convenient parking close by and while the access is a little back alley, once inside it's heaven. The only things that would add more luxury to the apartment would be a bluetooth speaker (because Ibiza mixes would be perfect here) and a Nespresso machine. Otherwise we couldn't fault a thing.

Booked a couple of weeks prior to our visit, Believe it’s just been refurbished. The flat was a decent size and well specified.

Views obviously looking out are fantastic.

There’s a few flights of stairs to climb, watch out for the pigeons.

If you’ve been to St Ives before you’re know that anywhere central is seagull city so expect to see them hanging about the balcony and on the roof making a noise.

Beds were comfy, rooms clean, decent showers, handy parking for one car very close by.

A good place to have a break, only minor thing to pick up on for if it’s night time or raining and stuck indoor is the WiFi is extremely slow.

Crab Rock is an amazing location for a holiday. From the amazing views to the central location it’s perfect.
Accommodation has everything you will need for your stay and nothing has been left out, and includes parking, which is highly sought after in St Ives.
