The house is well located and within short walk to the village Co-op and bar /restaurant The Laroch which has a great menu and high quality food. When we were staying it was only open from Thursday to Sunday and if you wanted to eat best book reasonably well in advance. Next door to it is the local chippie which was open to 8pm most nights and when had fish and chips one night and it was first class. The local Coop is newish and was a good size and stocked most things you'd need. Unfortunately the food distribution issues have also reached here and some of the shelves, especially meat/fish etc were fairly spartan. There is also a fishing tackle plus shop adjacent to the Coop but we never ventured in. Also in the Coop car park is a info visitor centre with a limited amount of local info (mostly leaflets about places well beyond the locality). It was really a small gift shop and a thriving cafe that seemed to have a reasonable menu.
In terms of eating out we didn't try the Ballachullish Hotel in North Ballachullish nor this time around The Holy Tree near at Kentallen but it has a great food reputation. We did try the Glencoe Inn which was more cafe like with a limited menu but ok.
The house itself overlooks the local shinty park and apart from some training sessions was largely quiet other than the odd dog walker. We were staying in late September with the weather fairly damp so not the best time to judge how well used it is in the summer. There are car park spaces to the front of the three conjoining houses but rather confusingly only house number 1 had a reserved space with all the others allocated to a neighbouring guest house. Our space was down a very steep sloop to the side which you wouldn't want to face on icing conditions. The space was an odd shape and only 2 cars could park there and only if they ensured the access point was left clear. We were lucky that the guest house owner said we could use one of his spaces and he'd let us know if he needed it back.......which he didn't and so we parked there the whole week. It was very much appreciated and made life easier for us given we had a large estate.
The house itself was clean with a combined lounge/kitchen with french windows to the front (not the easiest things to lock!) with a new looking fridge/freezer, tv with a Sky box and a couple of sofas. Due to Covid all the cushions had been removed and one of the sofass was fairly hard and a bit uncomfortable as a result. There was a dvd player but no controller and no controls on the machine which meant you could'nt watch anything that was episodic as you couldn't scroll to play the next one which was a bit frustrating.
Up stairs the bedrooms were fine with the master bedroom facing out the front with lovely views across the village but the two single bedroom it faced a blank wall. The bathroom was fine and the bath/shower was ok and hot but lacked a bit of pressure.
There was a small clock room as you entered the house which was great for hanging wet coats, drying out shoes etc.
The house was reasonably well stocked with cutlery and crookery, various electrical appliances such as hoover, iron etc but no hair dryer that was listed in the contents.
Initial entry was via a lock safe which we got the code for a week before and on departure just left and locked the key back in.
Overall the house suited us fine and the location great with Fort William and Oban not far away and of course the majesty of Glencoe just round the corner.

Fine cottage, Ballachulish is lovely, the surrounding area simply beautiful, and the people at the Clachaig are efficient and pleasant to deal with. Recommended. I would also advise visitors to take advantage of the 'order a hamper of local produce to be waiting for you' service, the food is absolutely top quality. A great holiday was had.

So this is the second time for us at this property. It is a great location over looking the shinty pitch and short walk from Co-Op, the pub, chippy and the main road.

Both times it has been spotlessly clean on arrival. Bed linens are great, cooking facilities are fine and washing machine is good too.

Only negatives are around the quality of furnishings and rough edges.

Sounds petty but...The sofa area has seen better days and my guess is that while the chairs are comfy they were bought from Ikea about 15 years ago, they are grubby. The TV is definitely not modern and where the toilet has been replaced upstairs the lino is cut to the shape of the old toilet.

Overall it is good place to stay and a great base but I think for next season it would be nice to see a better level of finish.

Generally very pleased with the property though I would say it was at the more expensive end of the scale, for what it offers.
The parking needs addressing, it is far from ideal and can be quite dangerous at times
The TV system is hugely out of date and really needs to be replaced with HD alternative

A lovely holiday

No quaint olde worlde charm, no 5* features - But good value, practical, acommodation in a great location. Found plenty of cycling and walking to do from the front door, used the local buses to get a bit further afield. And the well stocked co-op shop is only 5 minutes walk away.

The cottage itself was very dated and basic. Both rooms had twin beds set up when I'm almost certain I booked a double room. We travelled from Sheffield which was a 7 hour drive, so we decided to call clachaig inn to see if we could book a table for dinner that evening, only to be told that they were only serving food to residents of the hotel, and not the other holiday properties. The woman we spoke to said she would check with her manager and call us back to let us know but we did not hear back. This was disappointing but understanding due to covid. The cottage is dog friendly and there is a big field opposite which upon booking thought would be great for taking the dog first thing in the morning, however there are signs saying guide dogs only and fines for dog fouling. On the Friday evening after midnight we were woken up by teenagers knocking on our door and shouting on the field opposite. We ignored them even though they kept us up for a long time. Apart from these issues we had an amazing stay, the location is really what makes this cottage special. The kitchen is really well equipped and it is alot bigger then the pictures suggest. You have walks from the doorstep with glencoe only a short drive and fort william 30 mins up the road. If you're bringing dogs beware of ticks!! Our dog had 2 on our trip but luckily there was a vets in fort william to remove them and provide treatment. They are quite strict about dogs not going into bedrooms, but the bedroom doors both didn't shut properly! We had to keep our dog on a house lead because of this. Perhaps they should provide a baby gate or fix the bedroom doors. Theres also a washing machine provided but no clothes horse to dry the clothes on! We had to improvise and hang them on the chairs by the radiators!

Enjoyed our stay here

The cottage was nicely presented and had very comfortable beds and sofas. Location was good as it is only a short walk to a chippy and the local co-op, and the park is opposite. The owners were clearly well versed in the new COVID guidelines for holiday accommodation and we didn't mind helping with this by following the additional measures on leaving the cottage (e.g. stripping beds).
Downsides were no garden (though, as mentioned, the park is opposite) and very creaky doors and stairs, which was a bit awkward for us after the kids went to bed as we didn't want to wake them. As the middle cottage of three, the living area was a bit dark, but the modern decor made it a pleasant enough place to hang out.

The cottage is in a beautiful location with views on to the green with easy access to supermarket and A82.
Overall the accommodation is fine.
It could be improved in a number of details:
- Very sparse crockery and cutlery and other household utensils, requiring running the dishwasher on small loads.
- The double bed needed single-bed mattress protectors, which were not on the bed when we arrived.
- There is no bedside table on one side of the double bed - there is little space to put one, but a small one would be preferable to none.
- There are no hooks to hang clean clothes in the bathroom.
- There is no toilet roll holder next to the toilet. Just a stack of toilet rolls on the ground. This is not convenient!
- Better signposting for car parking would be helpful.
These are all minor points that can be fixed.
The beds were comfortable. The heating was great. We had a lovely week there!
