Stayed here last year, so it was the perfect choice for this year. Perfect location for Weston Super Mare & nearby beaches. We also had 2 little dogs, & its very doggie friendly, with fully enclosed front garden.

What a holiday! From the ease of booking through to the departure, everything was so simple and seamless.
The property itself was located only a short distance away from a delightful village but far enough out to benefit from peace and quiet throughout the day and night. The property came with a dedicated parking space as well as an enclosed garden which was great for our dog. The property also benefits from the availability of a much larger field to provide a recreation for our fur baby.
Fry's barn was delightful. It provide ample and comfortable living spaces, a well supplied kitchen and a 2 lovely adaptable bedrooms. The area was amazing and it was nice to have the comfort that we could leave the windows open overnight due to the weather.
The living room had an available Alexa as well as access to Netflix which were both helpful after long days of exploring the area.
The property is located centrally to Cheddar Gorge, Wookey Hole, Wells, Glastonbury, Bath and Bristol which gave us plenty of scope for activities day, night, raining or glorious sunshine.
The hosts were very friendly and accommodating and anything requested (barbeque) was never a problem and was available immediately.
Plenty of information was available in the accommodation which gave descriptions, locations etc for local activities, restaurants, history and all other manner of things.
Overall the accommodation and location only enhanced an amazing week away for our family.
Thank you for making our time so special and relaxing.

We chose Frys Barn due to its classifocation of dog friendly, as with two 5 month old pups, we needed somehwere they would feel safe and so would we. Frys Barn delivered on al counts.
Cottage is very clean and well equipped, with plenty of room for 2 x puppies and 3 adults.
It is in a great location with rolling hills one direction and beautiful valley views the other. The secure fields attached to the cottages are a God send. The pups loved the freedom to roam and run.
Olly and his wife were perfect hosts and nothing was too much trouble, thanks Olly.
We will certainly be visiting again in future. 5 stars from us.

Beautifully maintained, well equipped, characterful property in quiet location. Great for access to Cheddar Gorge, Mendips, Weston Super Mare etc.
If you intend to self cater you will need to pack salt /pepper/ oil etc. Tin foil and kitchen roll supplied.
Excellent area to exercise your dog right on the doorstep.
Thank you for a lovely stay

We enjoyed our 5 days staying in Frys Barn. It was our second stay there and we plan to return in the future. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We really like the way the site is laid out and how each cottage is a separate unit and private whilst also being part of the little community of cottages behind the entrance gate. The dogs were an added pleasure, with them walking around freely and friendly, obviously happy and cared for. The setting is lovely with plenty of space for us to walk around and sit on the bench to enjoy the view and large area of land available to us.
The cottage itself was comfortable and well laid out. The beds were large and comfortable and the bedding was good.
The L shaped settee was a bonus for one of us who has Sciatica, she could stretch out while everyone also had room to sit!
The washing facilities in the laundry room could do with improvement. When we asked for help the staff responded immediately and tried to remedy the situation but there is obviously some upgrading needed.
The other suggestion we'd like to make is that kitchen needs a bit more food preparation equipment, more bowls and cutting boards.

My family (1 daughter ages 7) and our dog really enjoyed our stay at Fry's Barn. We stayed during the summer holidays and loved the cottage from the moment we saw it! The owners made us delicious lemon cake and provided milk, tea and coffee for when we arrived after a long journey. The beds were very comfy and the kitchen had everything we needed. The information book was really helpful which we used a lot. We took our dog to the field they have which was perfect with lovely views. We visited Wells, Cheddar Gorge and the beaches - the cottage was a perfect base/location. The only downside was the sofas were quite worn and not very comfortable in the evening but this didn't dampen our stay :-)

We have stayed at many places with our cocker spaniel, Mia, and have not found anywhere as good for when you have your dog with you on holiday.
There is a fenced garden and beyond there is a field that you can excercise your dog in complete safety. dog bol and treats were waiting for her.
For us the cottage was great, maybe the settees could be a little more comfy.
This was our second visit and we will definately be back.

A lovely little cottage with a fabulous patio which was full of roses when we visited. It was a great base to spend time with friends and get out and about. We love staying at Frys barn, but unfortunately it is starting to show a bit of wear and tear.
The mattress in both beds need replacing, (which i notice was on another review), the settee for those of a more senior years our far too low, and more crockery would be appreciated, particuarly if four were staying.
But on the plus side, lovely setting, well organised, and handy for lots of locations.
We have stayed for at least the past four years, but unfortunately as the price has doubled for next year, we will not be returning, which is disappointing.

We very much enjoyed our recent stay at Frys Barn - the cottage is very comfortable & was ideal for us & our dog. The log burner was very welcome as it was cold & wintery weather during our stay. The paddock is great for dogs to run around in & also has a lovely view! There are walks to enjoy from the cottage - Crook Peak is well worth the walk up & the area around it is full of paths - wonderful views in all directions. Weston-Super-Mare is an easy drive away & has a great beach to walk along.
We would definitely like to return to Frys Barn on a future visit.

Perfect location for all we wanted to do. The barn was warm and welcoming, showers hot, and the kitchen basic, but well equipped. The beds were comfortable, but the sofas had seen better days. We were cold on the first couple of nights sleeping in the queen size bed. We then discovered the quilt was not in the cover, the right way round. We took it out and reinserted it correctly, and it was fine after that.
We thoroughly enjoyed our week exploring Somerset and would recommend the accommodation.

The welcome was warm and friendly. From the outset it was clear nothing would be too much trouble for them.
The cottage itself was lovely, everything we needed was there and all spotlessly clean. The seated area outside was perfect, as was the weather - we were very lucky. Unfortunately the fence wasn't quite enough to hold back my hound who escaped over the fence at the first opportunity. The owners dogs were very sweet though.
The paddock was amazing and perfect for private dog time. Big enough for a good run after a ball.
The only two issues we'd kindly like to give some feedback on. Firstly the sofa's. They were very low. For the young and adventurous using the cottage to explore the area, that wouldn't be a problem. But it was a bit of an issue for us, self confessed old ladies, looking for a bit of comfort in our old age!
The second issue was the beds. Particularly the bed in the front of the cottage. That's where I slept. I found it quite uncomfortable. But again, it's down to how you like your bed.
Thank you for the warm welcome and super clean accomodation. It was very much appreciated.

Excellent location for a walking holiday and for exploring some lovely villages of North Somerset, including Cheddar and Axbridge. A visit to Wells is highly recommended.
Accommodation was well equipped and there were plenty of extras (cling film, cleaning equipment, salt and pepper) as well as a welcoming cakes and beverages. Provision was made for recycling, including a composting bin.
Our four-legged companion was well provided for, the exercise area was secure. The patio area of Fry’s Barn was fenced. Poo bags were available as well as a designated disposal bin.
The only negative was the comfort of the sofas, they were well worn and very low! The beds were very comfortable.

A lovely quiet location for a break in the country. Although we have no dogs it was obviously a perfect choice for those who wish to bring their dogs - most of the other cottages had dogs staying. In fact, our family who live locally came for a visit and happily were able to bring their dog along as well.
Cottage was well appointed with all you need for self-catering and as advised there are also plenty of dining or take-away opportunities nearby.
Being an EV owner, it was an absolute pleasure to be able to use the charge point in the carpark and not have to worry about finding a public point.
Our only criticism is to do with the two sofas in the lounge which were very low and not very comfortable for a relaxing evening. However, with some ingenuity it was possible to improve on the comfort.
Overall, a very good place to stay with many local attractions in easy reach.

We had a wonderful stay at Frys Barn, it was very clean, comfortable and in great condition. It is also dog friendly so our Labradoodle had a wonderful time too. It has it's own courtyard garden with a bench, so you have your own outside space and it is set a bit away from the other cottages too. There is about 2 acres of meadow for exercise for you and your dog and wonderful views of the hills around the property. There are some good walks straight from the property, some on the level and others are a climb but it is worth while for the views.
Thoroughly recommended.

Excellent place to stay.had a wonderful week, very dog friendly. Provision of dog bowl, blanket, towels and biscuits a lovely feature, plus the secure meadows for him to walk around.
The only reason I’ve give a couple of 4’s is the sofas were rather uncomfortable and very low making them difficult to get up from if you are tall.
For us, the fact that we weren’t close to anything pub/shop. We needed to use the car everyday. There are walks from the farm, maps supplied, but sadly our aged Labrador couldn’t manage them. It would be ideal for walkers with younger fitter dogs.
We would return as it’s a beautiful, clean, well equipped, quite accommodation.
The owners were around and friendly.

The hosts have clearly spent time and effort in considering their guests.
The email received a few days before travel contained so much useful information not only about the cottage but also surrounding areas with things to do for all members of the family. The cottage was beautifully furnished. The cake on arrival was exceptional and the dog loved the treats left for him.
It was a stunning location, so quiet and peaceful.
Loved it!!

We thoruoghly enjoyed our stay at Frys barn. The location is beautiful and the service provided was exceptional. There were fresh flowers and cake awaiting on our arrival. The property was clean and the layout very accessible. There was a decent sized play grass play area for kids and dogs on site and I particularly loved the bench overlooking the surrounding countryside at the bottom of the site.

The site and cottage are really good. You don’t need a dog but the large exercise paddock is a brilliant feature.
Home farm is a country setting with opportunities for walks but the lanes are narrow and twisting.
The family owners are very friendly and attentive without being intrusive.
I cannot imagine that there is a more suitable cottage in the UK that meets our requirements. We will return later this year.

This is the second time we have visited Home Farm in Barton, located close to Winscombe. If you are looking for a safe and friendly holiday with your dogs this is absolutely perfect. We rented Fry's Barn, had our own enclosed garden and also the benefit of two fields where our dog Molly could run off lead and safely whenever we wished. The owners (Charlotte and Oliver) were always on hand but not intrusive. The surrounding countryside is lovely for walks and if energetic there are wonderful hill walks with views. A short drive takes you to a beach, we used Sandy Bay but Breen, Weston Super Mare and Burnham on Sea are not too far away. We have given a 4 for comfort only due to the settees being too low for us but that's due to our age and probably wouldn't bother a younger couple. We love Home Farm so much we booked for next year upon our return home.

I booked 2 cottages at Home Farm for a family get together and we stayed 3 nights over a weekend. It was fantastic. We had 2 small dogs with us and they enjoyed the fields. The cottages were warm and welcoming and we met up in the larger cottage (Granary) as there were 8 of us. It was our third stay in Frys Barn and we love it. It has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms which allows a bathroom for each bedroom. The cottages are always clean and there is always a welcome.

Fantastic stay. We couldn't fault it, everything provided and thought of.
We had a great week, sunshine every day too.
The only thing I struggled with was the narrow lanes getting to the farm. My husband was driving and he was fine. It was busy tractor time, Autumn and sunshine, so busy farmers.
The location was lovely and all the cottages and layout on the farm were great.
Wonderful for our dog too, great secure space to run around.
Well done to the owners. We are holiday home owners too and it is hard work to achieve this standard and keep it.

What a lovely location! We had such a great time in this tranquil and fully enclosed farm setting - our dog has never been off-lead before and she had a whale of a time! Mike's dogs are also such happy companions and my son really loved meeting them. The cottage itself was the ideal place for our family, and we thought the little touches for our dog - the towels, couch blankets, bowls, and even the adorable dog paw buttons on the bedding - made us feel really welcome. I think our only minor issue was our ageing backs dealing with the mattresses! Of course, had it been any comfier we would never have left and gone out adventuring!

This was our third stay at Home Farm, we absolutely love it here, the cottage is perfect, clean and well equipped, and the cake is delicious and a lovely gesture! It is also perfect for the dogs, having the field to run around in which is enclosed, so no danger of wandering off. Winscombe is only about ten minutes away with a supermarket and a great Chinese takeaway. We will be back again next year.

We (two adults and two young boys) had a fab week here in June 2021. We've stayed in a lot of cottages all over the UK but Fry's Barn is probably the nicest we've stayed in. Perfect size for us (quite spacious in fact), very well appointed. Definitely appreciated Alexa and Netflix and excellent shower, none of which are standard in cottages generally. Enclosed patio area ideal for dogs and is a proper little suntrap.
Mike the owner was extremely helpful throughout eg. on the first day we were running late and called him to apologise that the supermarket delivery was going to arrive before we did. Not only did he accept the delivery on our behalf but when we got to the cottage everything was already put away. Definitely going above and beyond expectations there.
Nice location with a lovely hill to climb with fabulous views, just behind the cottage. Situated in a small hamlet about a mile from Winscombe and 15 minutes drive from Cheddar and/or the M5. Some occasional noise from the M5 (which runs very close) - depending on which way the wind was blowing - however this did not detract from a generally very peaceful rural location.
A big reason for us to choose the cottage was the EV charger on site. This worked perfectly, is in the car park shared between all the cottages but nobody else was using it that week. For EV owners, this is enormously helpful when on holiday.

We had a week staying in Frys Barn and enjoyed every second. The Barn itself is lovely, so comfortable and such a home away from home.
The grounds of the barn are so tranquil it’s just such a perfect location to get away but you are not too far from local amenities.
Would definitely recommend and really hope to return in the future.

Excellent location for a stay in North Somerset. The cottage is very well appointed and the whole site is superbly positioned with lovely views of the countryside and lots of open space to enjoy around the cottages on the site. If you have a dog then this is the place for you and your pet (s). We are not dog owners, but we thought that this was one of the best cottages and sites we have stayed in!

My mum and her carer and her two dogs stayed for Christmas at Fry's barn in Home Farm. It was gorgeous! The cottage was a great size, had two huge beds, two bathrooms, a lovely living/dining room and a separate kitchen, and it was all decorated for Christmas. There were a couple of steps, but even with MS my Mum could manage it.
Her dogs loved the enclosed field, and it wasn't far to get to Berrow Beach which we all love to walk the dogs on. It was great having a back garden for late night doggy widdles too. We'll definitely be returning!

Booked in February & with restrictions changing weekly, we're just thankful that we were able to get away to this lovely barn in Somerset. Tucked away, the single track roads reminded us of Norfolk and yet you only have to travel a few miles to reach the supermarkets & conveniences of Weston-Super-Mare.
The barn was very well equipped & comfortable. Spotless, with hand sanitizer & wipes supplied too. It was a lovely touch to leave the music on, as a welcome.
We cooked everyday & settled down in front of a log fire more than once.
In a normal year we would have been out every day, but to reduce social contacts, we limited visits to Wells Cathedral & Bishop's Palace, The Helicopter Museum & SS Great Britain and a lot of walking!
With so much in the area still to see, a return visit is highly likely.

We stayed for a week in October with our Labrador. We wanted a quiet week away to relax and do lots of nice country walks and that’s exactly what we got. The cotttage is set in beautiful surroundings with plenty of great walks right from the front door. Frys Barn is cosy and welcoming and has everything you need. Every little detail has been considered.
The owner was so friendly and welcoming and even left some delicious homemade cake on arrival for us.
We had the perfect week and can’t wait to return.

We had an amazing time staying in Fry’s Barn, luckily the weather was on our side. The accommodation is superb, spotless, and has everything you need for your stay, and the dogs enjoyed the fields to run around in, without us having the worry of either of them escaping. This was our second visit and we will be booking for next year. There are so many places to visit within easy reach, and we can certainly recommend Shepton Mallet prison as something different. Alexa was a novelty too! Thank you for the cake, it was delicious!

This was one of the best dog friendly cottages that we have stayed at. The facilities provided for the dogs were excellent. Also the information folder was very helpful, this included copies of local walks that we could use. The cottage was ideally placed and was in a good location to either walk straight from the cottage or a short drive to a start point. We would definitely stay there again.

We had a lovely time at Home Farm. The cottage was excellent with everything you could need supplied, and a few extras like home made cake, fresh flowers and treats for the dog. Mike and Ruth was so kind and left a bottle of sparkling to help us celebrate our 30th wedding anniversary. The cottage is comfy and welcoming and lots of space outside for the dog to enjoy as well. Lots of very useful information on walks, places to visit, shopping, and pubs and places to eat.

Fry's Barn is in a select development of 5 holiday cottages developed from farm building conversions.
The owners Mike & Ruth live in the farmhouse on site.
Everything was excellent.
We have a dog & the 2 acre running field was ideal for him, although we took him on 3 additional walks a day too.
There are lots of footpaths literally on your doorstep. Bring wellies if you can ( we went in October) it can rain frequently in the Mendips.

The fact that this was our second stay speaks for itself. This time we had 3 adults, a baby and a dog and we all fitted in comfortable. The enclosed large paddock at the back is ideal for a bit of extra dog exercise if you cannot face another long walk. The patio is private and sunny (God willing). Plenty to do with dog & baby within a short drive and the beach is not that far either.

Lovely place to stay, everything you need to hand, a great base to visit in Somerset and North Devon

This year was our second visit to Home Farm, the buildings have been beautifully converted and Mike keeps the whole place neat and tidy. Frys Barn had the same clean tasteful decor as The Hayloft that we stayed in last year but has the advantage of being almost on one level, one step into the door and just a couple of shallow steps to the rear rooms
Our two Cocker Spaniels really enjoy the large paddock, which has been made even more secure than before and let’s them have a quick off lead run before and after daily car journeys. The owners also give our dogs plenty of attention and make them feel as welcome as the human visitors. The dedicated outside space around the cottage was also secure enough for us to relax after a long day enjoying the surrounding area
The two reduced ratings are due to a problem with one of the sofas which was damaged when we arrived, but Mike immediately made a temporary repair so nothing to spoil the holiday, it certainly would not stop us booking at Home Farm when we visit Somerset again

We all had a very enjoyable stay and the owners Ruth and Mike were very welcoming and couldn't do enough for you. Cottage was well equipped and spotlessly clean. Hope to return soon.

This has been one of our best holidays. Felt so comfortable and welcomed . Our 8 year old rescued lurcher , it was her first holiday with us, so enjoyed her stay. For the first time she had the freedom to run in a safe field.

Mike & Ruth were very welcoming. The cottage was beautiful & it was great to have a wood burning stove which made the cottage really cosy. It was lovely to have Alexa & be able to hear tracks from our favourite artists. The cottage was very well equipped.
We were spoilt having a super king bed. We know Mike & Ruth have only been at Home Farm 4 years & are in the process of doing extensive improvements. For us the settees were a little uncomfortable but that is only an observation & not a criticism. Home Farm cottages are located in a beautiful area but very close to amenities.

This was our second visit to Home Farm and we loved it. We stayed in a different cottage this time - Fry's Barn, and we found it as expected - clean, comfortable and welcoming. Fry's Barn has two bedrooms and as described on the website. We took our small dog with us and loved being able to just walk out of our enclosed garden and know that he was safe within the property. We could walk to the field to exercise him without having to put him on a lead and it made for a very relaxing holiday.
