Apart from the midges and rain we had a great time at Coorie Doon. It’s ideally placed to explore the area and in a beautiful spot to just chill. The cottage has everything you need and more. A great place.

My partner and I came to Corrie Doon to get away, sight see and do some songwriting. We picked this cottage because it had two bedrooms so we could go and do work in different rooms and that worked. It was a great little cottage - lovely location with the canal right outside the door and garden - and good spot to drive off and see some of the ancient historic sights and villages near by we especially loved Tayvillich. Although there were two bedrooms the cottage would have been too small if four people had used it but it was fine for the two of us. it was clean and nicely stocked with all the cooking utensils etc that you would need along with firewood for the wood burner, and oil and cooking bits like, salt and pepper, herbs and spices etc - that was a nice touch. Beds were comfy, shower easy to use etc and the home was always a nice warm tempreture ....It was a shame that the local hotel, which we had hoped would be somewhere to go for a meal or evening drink or breakfast, was totally shut and apart from Pollys coffee very small kind of tin shack on the side of the canal, there was no where near by to get anything to eat or drink. I think if there had been just one place to go and sit down and have some food or drink it would have been better but on saying that i would highly recommend the place as it was easy to drive out to places and it was perfect for our needs - beautiful pine filled hills to the right of the house and lovely flat canal side walks - It was easy to get in touch with people for any questions and i thought it was great 9 out of 10 really...a lovely calm stay (midges did come out in full force once the sun came out though!!) ..

We had a wonderful stay, the amenities in the cottage were better than usual. We were able to explore the area after our visits so long ago to find the changes that have been made since. The Kilmartin museum and glen being the important one. Even though a lot of the hotels and places were closed for refurbishment prior to the season we found forestry walks and catered for ourselves in the well appointed cottage. Thanks to Argyle self catering who efficiently found this cottage for us after our other choice had to be cancelled.

The owners have put a lot of thought and personal touches into the house - small but really well fitted out and lovely. Take your bikes with you and use the very useful bike shed - can cycle along the Crinan Canal watching all the boat movements, enjoy coffee t Paula's Cafe or Crinan Basin, or even cycle to historic Kilmartin Glen.

So much good about this cottage. Location right on Crinan Canal with a great 4 mile walk to Crinan which has a lovely cafe and restaurant! The cottage itself is beautifully decorated and very well equipped. Comfy bed, good heating system, hot water instantly. Easy parking close by. A very thoughtfully presented property which we much appreciated. Hope to return.

As good and wonderful as our stay at Coorie Doone was, there were one or two things that I would like to report.
Firstly, the suspended bedside lamps in the main bedroom were very annoying and, as they seemed to be made of glass, possibly dangerous. Each time we bent down to take items from the table tops, we banged our heads on the lamps. This affected both of us so a supported claim. Small table lamps or wall lights would be better.
A set of napkins would have been useful as we had to use kitchen paper instead. Also, a hand towel in the kitchen would also have been ueful as we had to dry our hands on the tea towel. In addition a small sharp knife for peeling vegetables would also have been useful and another toilet roll would not have gone amiss.
That’s all of the more negative stuff. We had a lovely week in the cottage. We love that area of Scotland so we had a great stay and even the Scottish weather shone for us. Thank you!

Coorie Doon Cairnbaan replied more than 1 year ago
Thank you for submitting a review about your recent stay at Coorie Doon, Cairnbaan and we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay and scored it so highly.
We also thank you for providing us with some specific points from your stay which have been noted and we would like to take this opportunity to address the points you have raised.
Obviously, the safety of our guests in paramount and therefore we provide a high quality vegetable peeler for guests to use to peel vegetables as this is much safer than using a small sharp bladed knife.
The cottage now has a new supply of paper napkins and kitchen hand towels for guests to use.
We have also arranged for the housekeeper to leave more toilet rolls.
In regard to the over bedside table lights, the cottage was a former quarrier’s cottage and every inch of space is at a premium. We therefore took the decision to have suspended lights from the ceiling so that space wasn’t compromised on the bedside table or around the bed.
You are the first of our many guests to have raised this point about the lights and we personally have never encountered the issue you describe on our frequent stays. Your concerns however have been registered and if this issue is perhaps raised again in the future, we promise to action a remedy.
We are happy so that you agree that the cottage is in a beautiful spot and you were able to fully enjoy all the area has to offer, the bonus being the fabulous weather.
Kind regards
Steve and Ann.

A lovely property with eveything and I mean everything you could possibly need for a relaxing holiday. We walked the towpath and a couple of beaches, checked out the local area and some of the historical sites as well as watching the yatchs sail slowly up the canal and then we just relaxed.
Ann and Steve have thought of everything and the house is just so welcoming and comfortable we could have stayed on for a month. We even received messages during our stay telling us of all the local events, so that we missed nothing.
Thank you Ann and Steve for all your hard work in making such a lovely home from home and letting us share it, and then arranging the best weather scotland has experienced in a long while.

Lovely cottage and very well kitted out. Only managed to sit outside the cottage 3 times for a coffee/wine, as it was a bit of a windy week, but it's a beautiful place to watch the world go by. Cottage very clean, especially all the kitchen utensils etc.
Will look to come back at a slightly later time of year.

Stayed at Coorie Doon for 5 days, after a hour drive was a perfect place to relax unwind with a gin.
We could not have asked for more it was comfortable, had everything in which was great , kitchen was well stocked with all that you could need, décor was fabulous and cosy home away from home.
Loved all the little touches of sweets and biscuits only down side was it needed to be restocked.
Would like to thanks |Anne & Steve who was most helpful from the start to the end. Will defiantly be booking again this year at Coorie Doon on the Crinan great place to explore.
