Monnington House is a wonderful venue for a family and friends gathering. The house is beautifully decorated with comfortable and stylish furnishings and overall provides a warm and welcoming space. The kitchen is very well-equipped with ample crockery, cutlery, cookware, glasses for a large group as well as two ovens, two hobs, an Aga stove, two dishwashers and all in a space large enough for a number of chefs. All bedrooms are beautifully appointed with extremely comfortable beds and the roomy bathrooms, each with their own style, providing plenty of hot water for a large group. ...more
We had the most fantastic week-long holiday as a group of 6 families renting the Main House, Cider Mill and Garden Cottage. The grounds are a wonderful space for children to play and adults to relax, with very well suited communal eating areas. There are lots of places to explore nearby, with hiking in the mountains, the beautiful Hay-on-Wye market to visit and some river swimming to enjoy. We have been visiting Monnington House for 6 years now with an extended family group of 10 adults and 8 children, ranging from their early 20s down. The house and rthe surrounding area has been a great place for us with activities available for all ages, including the river Wye and nearby Hay on Wye. The house itself is well set up for large groups, with games room and ample outdoor space, as well as excellent cooking faciliities. Our family has enjoyed coming back to Monnnigton House every year, and we expect that tradition to continue
The Cider Mill is calm and peacefully decorated and arranged. The garden is a lovely sheltered spot for badminton, the kitchen is well equipped and a light and airy space to cook. The sofas and beds are very comfortable.We loved the ice cream at Oakchurch farm shop, canoeing at Hereford Kayak Canoe across the river at Byecross (an extremely helpful company!), swimming at Bredwardine bridge and walking along Monnington Walk. Altogether, our family had a lovely time here.
