Ger Y Llyn is our largest two person cottage with a spacious bathroom with stand alone bath and shower. The bedroom has a super king bed which can be split into two 3' singles. It has two fenced terraces with lovely views and table and chairs for breakfast in the sun. You can bring up to 3 dogs and the Hot Tub and Sauna is available FOC.

Perfection!

What a place! Best holiday cottage we have ever stayed in. Spotlessly clean and spacious cottage, all very recently renovated so has all the mod cons too and we were able to take our dog. Stunning setting and lots of lovely beaches to enjoy.

I can’t say enough good things about this place!

The cottage itself was the epitome of luxury. I’ve been to dog friendly accommodation in the past and it’s been like a mini-Ikea but from the furniture even down to the crockery – everything was of the highest quality and often supporting small local businesses. I would happily move in and not touch a thing.
The kitchen is well equipped so you could cook there if you wanted to – the oven/microwave was genius! The fridge was more than enough for me but there’s a bigger fridge in the laundry room for anything that didn’t fit.
The fire is a gorgeous touch, and it’s rare to find somewhere who doesn’t limit your wood allowance (I paid £12 for 3 logs at Centre Parcs!). Cosying up in front of the fire was probably my favourite bit of my holiday (thanks for helping me as a fire novice, Emma!)
The bed is ginormous, as someone not blessed in the height department, I had to take a bit of a run up, but it was very comfortable & so snug.
The bathroom was kitted out to the highest of standards and there was plenty of hot water, my dog was too clingy to let me use the hot tub but having the bath that I could practically swim in more than made up for that.
I arrived to a goodie pile for my dog including fleeces, towels, some locally made treats and the most thoughtful thing of all – a tag saying “I’m on holiday” to add to their collar with the accommodation’s number on. I had no signal anywhere, so this really did take a weight off my mind.
Humans aren’t left out – I had some sourdough, some Welsh honey butter, locally produced coffee, and some milk from a local dairy; a real nostalgic treat as there was a layer of cream on the top that you had to break through to get the milk.
Having wifi and a TV that you could sign into your streaming platforms was great. The guestbook was brimming of useful information, and I would say to follow the directions on the website to the accommodation – they’re way better than satnav!

Location wise you’re 10 minutes away from Poppits Sand and Newport beach. Sadly, we didn’t manage to make it down to the cove as I stupidly took walking shoes instead of wellies and the streams were impassable but the fact that you have this option to walk from the front door is a dream on days you don’t want to spend your holiday driving. The paddock was such a wonderful place for dogs – the fact the hosts have protected this safe space for dogs instead of cramming more accommodation in really highlights how this is a dog welcoming place, and not someone just tolerant of dogs. To my dog’s utter delight, the yoga studio overlooks the paddock, and he loved saying “hello” to everyone one evening (Sorry, Alex!) Until very recently, I had a reactive dog and I wouldn’t hesitate to have taken her here because of the paddock option. But his favourite bit was all the bridleways around the accommodation, we walked for ages and didn’t see another person - we went on many sniffari’s and he had the best time. Not something I took advantage of, but a rare benefit of Cwm Connell is that it’s OK to leave your dog (if they’re OK to be left) for a little while here, and there’s even crates if your dog feels happier in one of those – for longer periods the host can arrange dog sitters! I’ve never seen other accommodation offer this before!

I must call out the hosts – I’ve ever felt so well looked after and this is a million miles away from the anonymous Air BnB hosts that have become the norm. I asked to make a bespoke booking instead of the usual days and Emma accommodated this for us, she also brought me fresh flowers and a baby gate (to keep my clingy dog out of the bedroom, he hates closed doors) when we first arrived. She also taught me how to make a fire and she assured me that I could ring their doorbell or give them a call at any time. As a solo traveller I felt very safe! I got an email the day after check in asking if everything was OK and another the day before checking out with useful information.

Another thing I’d like to call out is their efforts on sustainability, as someone who tries very hard at home, I hate that this is often a last thought when we go away. Washing up liquid and handwash are refilled from larger bottles and are natural and locally sourced. There’s no single use plastic and cleaning clothes are biodegradable. The water is natural Welsh spring water that’s been filtered and whilst there is heating there, visitors are encouraged to make use of the fire instead. You could tell that Emma, Alex and their family really buy into doing things right, for everyone.

What a wonderful break! From start to finish, Emma was super helpful and accomodating, wanting to make our stay perfect! Nothing was too much trouble, even helped us with some extra dog mats for our pooch... Lots of little extras and attention to detail, loved curling up in the comfy armchairs in front of the fire, and soaking in the huge bath! Really comfy bed, extremely clean and well furnished...Walks straight from the door, which in February were mostly wet and soggy, but the area is beautiful, even in winter.....
The only thing we would have liked was a microwave, just to make cooking a little easier...
Would love to visit again, and have already recommended to friends...thanks for an amazing stay...

Alex and Emma were so friendly from my first interaction before I even booked the stay right through to the pre arrival information which was super informative and struck just the right balance when we were there of being around if we had questions but otherwise let us get on with things. Our cottage was so beautifully kitted out with a wonderful colour scheme and top notch appliances and was the perfect size for my husband and I whilst we were staying. The views were spectacular - a particular favourite would be the views from the jacuzzi and hearing the stream whilst watching the sun setting. Brilliant! If you are keen to go on long walks we managed a few lovely long ones whilst we were there from walking to Poppet Beach (beautiful wide sandy beach) along the Pembrokeshire coastal path to the pebbly bay closest to the property and back up to the cottage via a lovely garden centre cafe through the woods and stream to a shorter walk to see the witches cauldron. I've already recommended this place to a few friends and family as I thought it was just fab!

We were made to feel most welcome on our arrival and Emma was most helpful in explaining about the property and the location.
A delicious artisan loaf complete with a jar of honey butter was a lovely touch.
Our dog was also made to feel welcome with some special treats.
It was so enjoyable to be able to walk to the sea through a nice wood.
There was so much to do locally that 4 days wasn’t enough so we will have to return!
