Welcome to our collection of five star self catering luxury Dorset cottages; four of which boast stunning locations on the UNESCO world heritage Jurassic Coast, close to the pretty village of Abbotsbury and one nestled in the picturesque village of Melbury Osmond, deep in Hardy's Wessex. All our cottages have WiFi, flat screen TVs, dishwashers, range cookers, American fridge/freezers, Tassimo machines, washing machines, tumble dryers, private off road parking, private gardens and very comfortable beds with high quality Egyptian cotton sheets and goose feather and down duvets and pillows. We also welcome dogs, by arrangement.
Every year, my family of ten, including four grandchildren, enjoy one break where we are all together. This accommodation, availability, "The Furlongs" was found on line at very short notice and far exceeded our expectations.
Over the years, the family have rented Villas and cottages in both the UK and Europe and none have come even close to matching the quality of Furlongs. Yes, agreed, it is indeed fairly new, but beautifully clean, loads of space, a superbly equipped kitchen, plenty of technology if that is your interest. I also found the number of knickknack's were ideally kept to a min...more
Loved our stay at East View Barn in Melbury Osmond. The cottage was in a lovely, peaceful location off the A37, so easy to find. The cottage is a blend of old and new and well constructed with underfloor heating and heated towel rails, if needed. We liked the simplicity of the design with the plain but really tasteful décor - very much to our taste!! Lots of natural light at this property and the patio gets lots of sun through most of the day and is a great place to enjoy a drink or a read. Kitchen is well stocked and the American style fridge/freezer was a big bonus for self catering. There ...more
Just had a lovely stay at Clayhanger lodge, very spacious apart from a knife sharpener (my husbands moan) it was like a home from home. The grandchildren loved the garden & being surrounded by the cows & various other wildlife. Plenty of local pubs to
eat at and Weymouth only a few miles away. We were very lucky with the weather which makes all the difference.
As family of 8 including 2 children myself, my husband and a disabled member of our family all of different ages and our dog Ernie we all had a lovely time at The Stables, the views were amazing and we all loved Weymouth plenty to do, although quite remote we couldn’t walk anywhere as a little bit out especially with a wheelchair but all in all we had an amazing week and would most definitely recommend The Stables.
Sitting in seclusion in spectacular Dorset countryside, this cottage was spa cious ,well equipped and comfortable. Care has been taken to provide amenities for those of us who are less able. Except there is no walk in shower! Please ,please provide a walk in shower on the ground floor then the cottage will be perfect. However this has not put us off booking the cow byre again. We will look forward to sitting in the sizable lawned area, gazing at that lovely view.
