Heron Lodge we had a lovely time during our stay. Fiona the host was very helpful during the booking process as our stay was very last minute. Everything we needed was available at Heron Lodge and life jackets available for going out on the boats.
We look forward to our return visit.

Last minute booking. Wow what can I say, beautiful lodge in fabulous surroundings. We were looking for a last minute break to recharge and this place ticked all the boxes. From the minute you walk in the door you see the lake from the patio doors and this view has no words to truly describe it, stunning. Waking up on a morning the bedroom also looked across the lake, what a view to start the day. So beautiful, ducks coming right up to the veranda and the swans on the lake just stunning. Use of a boat, a lovely row on the lake. Hot tub perfectly placed to chill with a glass of fizz and soak up the views
The lodge has everything you need for your stay, its home from home with all the above added bonuses. Immaculately clean, beds so comfortable big with 3 bedrooms and bathrooms, but so cosy at the same time. One bathroom even has a hidden sauna! This lodge fit everything we were looking for and much more. They have truly thought of everything for a lovely stay, fresh bottled milk and the welcome hamper, along with the fizz for our anniversary was such a lovely touch. We will without a doubt be returning guests. Thank you for the perfect place to recharge and reset.

We stayed here for 3 nights, first time ever going on a lodge break and didn’t know what to expect and whether we would get bored with young kids. We had 4 lodges booked and had an absolutely amazing time. So peaceful and quiet. Hot tubs were amazing and the row boats for the lake kept up occupied as the weather was beautiful. Already looking forward to staying here again next year! Would definitely recommend! Thank you

This was our second visit to the Tranquil Otter and our first time in the Heron Lodge. The location is wonderful and you feel at home and relaxed as soon as you enter the lodge and overlook the lough from your decking.
The facilities in Heron Lodge are excellent, with both the hot tub and sauna very easy to use.
All crockery, utensils and pans are provided in the kitchen, which is large enough for 2 people to prepare meals.
The bedrooms are all good sized doubles, however drawers and wardrobe space are a little limited for a longer stay.
The boat and canoe are great fun and allow you to explore the lough, they are both stable on the water and feel safe for anyone who may not have rowed before.
There is good Wi-Fi in the lodge, with all information on line if you have a query; however a paper pack of information made available for easy reading would be helpful and welcome addition.
We used the BBQ one night, but found it a little small for catering for the lodges 6 person capacity.
Overall, an absolutely wonderful and relaxing stay and we shall return again. Highly recommended for anyone wishing to leave the stresses of the world behind for a few days.
Thank you and see you again soon.

Awesome place to stay. Very quiet and lovely views over the lake. The hot tub is dated but still great to rekax in. Everything you need is there even hairdryers. Perfect for elderly relatives. Not far from everything you need. Relaxing stay had by all.

This was our 4th stay at Tranquil Otter and will not be our last. We enjoyed our stay from start to finish. Weather was amazing for the hot tub and boat. We had a BBQ for my birthday . The welcome pack was fine nice and the tea towel to take home was a lovely touch and so were all the luxury toiletries provided. My husband who prefers animals to people throughly enjoyed the wild life and had a few walks with his binoculars

My husband has MND and my son and I took him to tranquil otter. A much needed rest bite in amazing relaxing location.

The Heron was well equipped for his needs but also provide the added bonus of a hot tub and sauna.
The weather was kind for March, crisp morning but sun during the day. The moon shinning on the lake was majestic.

From booking to leaving everything ran smoothly the staff amazing.
At some point we will return.
But if you need a break with lake views your own boat and tremendous facilities then you should try The Tranquil Otter.

Great location and lodge. Watch out for the extra charges as lots are not included. Very clean. Big hot tub. Very peaceful location.

Hi Emma We are sorry that you feel we charge extra for lots of things. We initially introduced an additional charge for the hot tub to offset the rise in electricity costs. However, we recently secured a more favourable deal with our supplier, so we've removed the extra charge. I think you will find most places charge for a dog. We hope you will return to stay again.

We stayed in Heron lodge for a Birthday celebration and a personal message and card was a nice touch. Communication was excellent from the company. The lodge was clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. All of the family enjoyed the boat, making this holiday a bit special and it was lovely to have such a view as well as the visits by ducks, swans and heron.

We stayed in The Heron in July 2024. Myself and my family including our Miniature Schnauzer.
The lodge was spotlessly clean with a wonderful view.
Everything you could need was provided.
We barbied the first night, it was lovely eating outdoors.
I loved the birds. Swans, ducks coming for us to feed I ordered bird food, and the finches landing on the pre filled feeders.
We walked around the lake most days never really saw anyone except the first day we met Nick, the owner.
It really is like the name Tranquil.
In the evenings we lit the fire played games watched spooky forest/ lakey films!
Days out we went to Derwentwater where those that could paddle boarded. We revisited Muncaster Castle, watched the amazing birds of prey flying show, had a lovely lunch in the cafe there.
Another day we went to Buttermere to eat at a pub we have been to before. Gorgeous. A little stroll around the lake.
I hope to return very soon. xx

Short break with grandkids. The place is magical, just love the wildlife and pure tranquility of the loch. Weather wasn’t great but it didn’t stop the fun and hot tub and sauna were well used. Wheelchair access is great. Staff are lovely. We’ll be back soon
