Situated on the lake's edge with a window looking out the lake and wildlife. It is great for a family or friendship group of four.

The location and view is amazing, easy to find on maps, nice area, 10 minutes from shops and very clean and warm lodge, great stay would definitely recommend!

This was another lovely stay at the Tranquil Otter, though our first time in Buzzard lodge.
Nothing is ever too much trouble, the small touches make all the difference like the dog treats (which Molly particularly enjoyed!!).
I wouldn't hesitate in recommending this place to anyone looking for a place to run to/hide in/rest in/relax in/or whatever you need to really, it's just a lovely calm place to be. The lake was frozen over so we didn't get to go out in the old wooden boat but we did get to feed to ducks whilst they were skidding around on the ice :0)

This weekend was a get together for myself and three friends for our 50th bdays, we arrived there to a lovely message and bottle of wine saying happy 50th, which was lovely ! The rest then certainly didn’t disappoint, the lodge is lovely , the lake and surrounding area is spot on , we couldn’t of asked for a nicer weekend, everything great , and certainly tranquil, will definitely come back!

The Buzzard lodge was beautiful and in a lovely, pretty & relaxed setting. Hot tub was lovely and checked daily. It was spotlessly clean on arrival and everything was of a good quality, from comfy bed, thick towels, kitchen equipment and toiletries.
Our dog loved walking in the woods and watching the ducks and even she had a welcome box with a toy and treats!

Great stay at buzzard lodge however for it been wheelchair accessible the beds were unfortunatly too high for my mam & we did struggle a little. We couldnt take mam for a walk outside as it was too muddy & the paths are not flat.to use a wheelchair.. However the lodge was spotless, the communication was 10/10, the views amazing, the beds were so comfy! Apart from the two things i mentioned we loved our stay.

Very relaxing had a lovely stay except for an issue with the water tank. It was very noisy so had little sleep first night. Staff were great and come the next morning however had to wait for a bearing being ordered. Knocked the tank off at night to stop the noise but didn't have enough hot water for us all the next day. Otherwise perfect as usual

Beautifully located lodges.
Comfortable and clean with outstanding views of the lake and it's inhabitants.
Great for bird watching.
The lodges are expensive but as are all holiday lets of this type.
I gave a 4 for condition, only because the lodges could do with a bit of an update.
This is my 3rd stay at Tranquil Otter and I'm coming back in July with 4 friends, so shows how good it is.

The tranquil otter is exact that set in beautiful and peaceful surroundings
We stayed in the Buzzard lodge designed for disabled customers. As a wheelchair user I found the lodge itself easy to use and it had adequate room to move around after moving the odd bit of furniture slightly.
The accessible bathroom was roomy although a little uneven and I did find it difficult having a sink on the other side of the room from the toilet.
The path leading up to the lodge was difficult to navigate in a wheelchair due to being uneven and gravelled and as a result I was unable to access the paths around the lake or even to the other cabins. If these paths could be smoothed out it would help a wheelchair user greatly.
It is a lovely place to stay and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a peaceful get away but if you have mobility issues take a friend to help.

Had a fantastic time in the Buzzard Lodge, lovely setting, you really would struggle to beat the view over the lake. The kids absolutely loved it too, the addition of the boats for each lodge is great, really nice touch that everyone enjoyed. Staff were all really friendly. Highly recommended, we will definitely come back.

Our second time staying at the tranquil otter, the first time we stayed in the Heron lodge and this time stayed in the buzzard lodge. Both absolutely fantastic, the lodges are well equipped for your stay and so peaceful and relaxing. Booked the buzzard as a last minute after a stressful week at work and as my husband’s late birthday gift and it was just fantastic. Beautiful views from the rooms and hot tub, we had a lovely clear night on the Saturday so spent it sat in the hot tub looking at the stars and listening to the owls. We are looking forward to our next visit.

Really beautiful lodge, well kept with great facilities, and most notably its amazing lakeside location. You very much feel like you're living in nature. It was lovely to wake up with a lake view out of the bedroom window, be able to row out onto the lake in our little boat, cook our own meals, feed all the birds, and of course spend plenty of time in the hot tub right by the water. It's just remote enough to feel like a getaway, but still close enough to the likes of Carlisle or anywhere in the Lakes for day trips, knowing you have a gorgeous cabin to come home to.

Beautiful setting, very peaceful with some lovely local walks. Buzzard lodge was exactly as described and as per the pictures. Only a short distance from shops for supplies and has 2 or 3 local pubs within walking distance.

Stunning place, with attentive and friendly hosts, all of the amenities you could wish for.

We had an absolutely fantastic time, and wouldn’t hesitate to come back.

This was our third visit and won’t be the last! Lodges are clean and cosy especially with the log fire roaring and the hot-tub was great. Love the peace and quiet and the view which is amazing any time of year.

After a lovely walk around Buttermere, we arrived at Buzzard lodge in time to see the sunset over the lake. We were looking for peace and tranquility and certainly found it.

The lake was beautiful, with ever changing views. Such a variety of water fowl! Mallards, tufted, wigeons, Canada geese, swans, coots, shovelers…. many visiting finches too.

The lodge was cosy, lamps on for our arrival, well equipped with a generous supply of logs and welcome basket thoughtful. I’m so pleased we brought groceries because we had no wish to leave to dine out. Lake views from bedrooms and lounge.

Relaxing in the (super clean, large) hot tub, almost at lake-level, listening to the water fowl, owls and stargazing was just lovely.

Enjoyed the easy bimble around the woodland walk, spotting a grey squirrel and various finches.

The flat bottomed boat was such fun - easier to row than it looked! We could have floated on the lake for hours with a flask of tea, watching the birds. One brave swan came up to us for food.

We didn’t want to leave our luxurious “bird-hide” after just two nights and were lucky enough to add another on.

Be warned, the lodge comes with an early morning duck-alarm wanting breakfast!

Our second stay in 2 months ideal for a beautiful scenic and comfortable escape from real life. Stayed with our son and 2 dogs, enjoyed lovely walks and rowing round the Lough. Fed the ducks by hand. Loved the hot tub and cozy log fire in the evening. Can't wait to return hopefully for longer next time.

I think this I my 5th visit and each time I think “should have booked a longer stay”. You would be hard pushed to find a more beautiful and relaxing view anywhere in the UK than the one from the decks of the lodges. Quality of lodges and what they contain is excellent - for example great cutlery! Lot of friends I have recommended to have stayed and been equally impressed. Will deffo be returning

We have been returning to the Tranquil Otter for 8 years, so that should give an idea of how much we love it here. The view, the lodge, the hot tub are all excellent. The soft furnishings have been updated this year, so the lodge looks really nice. However, it is time to change the sofas, they are so uncomfortable now and are probably due an upgrade.

We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend break in this cosy lodge with lovely lakeside views and visits from the wildlife. Hot tub was a nice treat too! It was a nice relaxing stay! We had a day trip to the Lakes one day which was just a short car joutney away. Would definately book again.

A real get away from it all place.
Lovely for a romantic weekend, a group of friends or family get together.
We loved bird watching while sitting on the decking and the walk round the lake.
Very peaceful on site but not far from lovely pubs for lunches or evening meals. 15 mins in car to Carlisle too.
It’s a must really. Lovely hot tub too altho we didn’t use it and a rowing boat for each lodge. We’ll be back! Thank you.
