The School House was originally the home of the village schoolmistress for Ford until the mid-1970s. While attached to the former schoolroom, the cottage is completely private. It is set within the estate on the edge of the village, in an elevated position with open views across fields towards the farm and the woodland beyond. You can also see the village hall and two neighbouring properties across the lane, offering a peaceful rural setting without feeling entirely secluded.
The cottage comfortably accommodates four guests and is thoughtfully laid out. There are two spacious bedrooms, each configurable as super-king or twin beds, and both feature electric blankets, hairdryers, fitted cupboards, and cosy wool carpets. The large bathroom includes a generous walk-in Aqualisa shower as well as a separate bath.
The well-equipped kitchen has everything you need for a relaxing self-catered stay, including a dining area, microwave, dishwasher, fridge, freezer, and oven with ceramic electric hob. Just off the kitchen is a small utility room with a washing machine and a convenient downstairs WC.
The sitting room is warm and inviting, with a log burner, TV, Wi-Fi, DVD player, and docking station. Throughout the cottage, rooms are elegantly decorated with interlined, handmade curtains, creating a comfortable and homely feel. Outside the back door you’ll find a log shed, garden furniture, and a barbecue for enjoying warmer days.
The cottage is surrounded by a large garden, mainly laid to lawn, with a ha-ha boundary leading down to a quiet country lane. Additional outbuildings are available for secure bike storage.
We have created a true home from home, available for short lets with a minimum stay of three nights. During July and August we aim to offer weekly stays from Friday to Friday, though please do enquire if your dates differ. Arrival is from 5pm, allowing us time to ensure the School House is fully prepared for your holiday.
