Our first time at Owl Cote under the new ownership. Still a great stay despite the weather and the property has been nicely freshened up. Enjoyed watching the roiling waves in Fleet Bay through the binoculars on the night when it was particularly windy and Owl Cote is so handy for a swim in Carrick Bay when the weather's better. What's not to like. Recommended.

Carrick Bay is a magical and unique place and Owl Cote is the best cottage here.
It has so many facets, a viewing balcony, a sunny patio, a sheltered sunken garden, a well maintained lawn area for the sure footed, a great fully equipped kitchen with views to the back, a spacious lounge etc etc
The wildlife lives around you with deer, hares, stoat, and a resident owl of course!

Loads of parking and only a few steps to the sheltered sandy beach.

Dog friendly too.

I would certainly recommend this cottage. The approach to carrick is off road and provides the remote feeling. You soon get used to the track and Tesco will find you!

We just enjoyed another wonderful week at Owl Cote, mesmerised by the sea views, and immersed in bird song and sunshine. It truly is a haven of peace and relaxation in the most stunning setting, very well equipped, with super comfortable rooms and a fabulous welcome pack to help you kick start your holiday. We had a great stay at Owl Cote, so good in fact we extended our stay by an extra two days. Really comfortable well equipped house in a lovely location. Our dog loved walks on the beach and up Knockbrex Hill (great view on a clear day), both from the front door.

We had a wonderful stay at Owl Cote over new year. The property has plenty of space, and is beautifully presented with such special views across Carrick Bay from the balcony. Everything we needed was provided and the gifts on arrival were a lovely gesture. The location of Owl Cote is stunning. We were on the beach every day (despite some dubious weather!) and enjoyed exploring nearby towns. Thank you for a wonderful stay - we would highly recommend and hope to be back!

We had a wonderful 3 night stay at Owl Cote for my Birthday. We wanted somewhere not far from where we lived, cosy and secluded, where we could relax and enjoy some of the country pubs & restaurants, and thats exactly what we got! Donald was really helpful from the moment I got in touch, and it was all organised!
We were welcomed with a beautiful hamper to enjoy which was very much appreciated. The upstairs living room space is lovely and has a log burner which we used every night. The views from here are lovely out to the sea. We had a lovely walk along the coast to Sandgreen, and visited local towns Castle Douglas, Gatehouse of Fleet & Kirkcudbright during our stay. Thank you again for hosting us, we had a brilliant weekend and would definitely recommend.

A comfortable and cosy cottage in a great location near a sandy beach. Well equipped with comfortable beds and furniture.
We would recommend this to others. The entrance roads are not best suited to low slung sports cars (we were luck to travel in a 4x4). Our only negative comment is that it would have been nice to be issued with some firewood and/or lighting paraphernalia. We arrived on a very stormy December day just as darkness was falling and couldn't light the stove as no wood or kindling supplied.

We had a super stay here! Beautifully decorated and appointed ! The gardens are also really lovely and the comfort of the property meant we didn't want to venture far ....esp with the beach so close by ;)

Comments on Owl Cote.
Need to update the info for guests. Eg. The note on the fridge says there is an additional one in the shed. There isn't. We had to text Donald to get the number for the combination lock on the shed door. The gas regulator on the BBQ seemed to be broken. Could not connect it to the gas bottle.The guide said there were two toilet rolls in each bedroom. There weren't. It also emphasised not putting oil etc down the sink. There were no kitchen rolls provided and we had to get our own. It would be nice if there were a few more cleaning things. Fairy liquid was bare minimum. Other than these minor issues we had a fabulous time.

Owl Cote is a beautiful house with amazing views. It has everything you need for your stay, including Kayaks, bodyboards and bikes to allow you to explore the amazing local area. The house itself sits in beautiful gardens and is stunning inside, it really is a luxury retreat where u can relax and enjoy the peace and tranquility.
There is a fantastic sandy beach just a 100 metre walk from the house and it is quiet and secluded, a real hidden gem.
We will definitely stay here again.
It was just perfect.

What a wonderful find.. a perfectly located property.. a stone throw away from the shore but with the added luxury of privacy.. superbly equipped ( even a ninja blender! ) beautifully finished house.. comfortable beds..imaculate inside and out.. the garden at this property was a delight of colour and wildlife ..dazzles on a sunny evening .. we were very sad to leave and will be returning.. thank you for such a great stay xx
