Underhill Barn was a working agricultural barn until the early 1980's and dates back to the 1860's.

Full of character but with every modern convenience for your comfort. Rated Five Star Gold by Visit England, Underhill Barn B&B is a luxurious, romantic retreat set in the heart of beautiful Southleigh. Good food is at the heart of our guest offer, we have a Breakfast Award from Visit England and provide a four-course, no rush breakfast between 08:30 and 10:15. The Terrace Suite is our premium suite with direct access onto the flower-filled terrace, with its own outdoor seating area. The Terrace Suite benefits from a large bathroom with large shower, separate bath and twin sinks. Guests also have exclusive use of the library, with two comfy armchairs and reading lights.

We had a very welcoming and friendly stay at Underhill Barn and Ants went out of his way to make us feel comfortable. Attention to detail was amazing and we couldn’t fault our stay in any way. Breakfast was a real treat with so much choice. Underhill Barn is a beautiful property and the Terrace Suite was perfect with a very comfortable bed and large en-suite bathroom. There were so many extras in the room to make our stay very memorable. We were given lots of good recommendations for where to eat and places to visit. We would highly recommend and hope to return.

We received a very warm welcome to a luxurious property, delicious cake on arrival, extensive breakfast menu, very helpful suggestions of places to visits and local restaurants for evening meals. Very comfortable and spacious room and bathroom and private lounge.

We recently stayed with two friends in the Terrace and Courtyard Suites at Underhill Barn B and B. We had the most wonderful time. The accommodation is superb, with the most comfortable bed I’ve ever slept in! The property and its location are beautiful and the breakfast outstanding. Many thanks to our fantastic hosts, Ants and Lance. We were sorry to leave!

Underhill is the most beautiful bed and breakfast in a stunning setting. Our hosts Ant and Lance were so attentative and charming. Nothing was too much trouble. Ant thought of everything to make our stay so perfect. I had my elderly Mum with me who was celebrating a birthday. She has major mobility issues. Ant gave advice on where to eat in the evening and where to go in the day that would be suitable. This advice was invaluable. His breakfast was amazing beautifully presented and cooked to order. The courtyard garden is a sun trap. It felt like a home from home, and I cant recommend it enough. He made us feel so special and looked after .

We thoroughly enjoyed our week in the Terrace Suite at Underhill Barn, where nothing was too much trouble for our wonderful, welcoming hosts.  So much thought and detail had gone into everything from Ants’s wonderful breakfast spread, home-made cakes in the afternoon and slice for the journey home, to the dreamy Hypnos beds, two basins, plenty of hangers in the wardrobe,  WiFi re-charging points and reading lights, tasteful, relaxing décor and spotless bedroom and lounge areas.

The weather was beyond everyone’s control, but Ants and Lance were only too happy to give us plenty of ideas, directions, maps and recommendations to cover all eventualities.  You may need to practice reversing in case you meet a tractor on the country lanes, but it will be worth making the effort! 

Thank you Ants, Lance (and Tilly the cat) for creating such a beautiful, relaxing haven, and letting us share it with you.

Ants and Lance met us with warm smiles and a homemade cake as we arrived. Their warmth and friendliness never stopped! Even the slice of cake continued daily. Our beautiful room was cleaned and tidied daily, and the breakfast was AMAZING, I asked Ants for so many recipes! So much care was taken over my coeliac statues too. They know the area intimately and took great interest in making sure we had the best time, advising us of the best restaurants and places to visit. It’s as if they want to really treat their guests, they are naturals at this! Everyone says this in good reviews, but we will definitely be back - we’ve found a beautiful and peaceful bolt hole where we feel really well looked after. That in a nutshell is what Ants and Lance have very successfully created.

Underhill is a beautifully restored barn in an incredible setting. The perfect place to unwind and recharge. We were made to feel at home from the start to the very end of our stay. The attention to detail on everything is second to none. Both Ants and Lance are delightful company and went above and beyond to make our stay a treasured memory. Warm, friendly, clean and the most comfortable of beds with luxury linen. Our mornings were set up with the best breakfast ever! We were looked after so well it was hard to leave. A truly special place and one to return to.
