We stayed in the Gardeners Cottage, Powburn in the Northumberland countryside recently. The cottages itself was beautifully presented, clean, warm and comfortable and had a private veranda overlooking a gentle steam which was a great place to view the abundant local wildlife. There was also the chance to view the stars through an astro telescope which was a lovely extra touch.The cottage is ideally situated for local walks in the cheviott hills as well as being within easy travelling distant to the tourist attractions of Alnwick, Bamburgh, Craister and many more. Our Northumberland Cottage was a delight, a wonderful mix of old and new -- historic buildings with modern conveniences. We (3 adults) stayed in the Kennelman, that featured 3 spacious bedrooms, a full, well-appointed kitchen, and great common spaces. The hosts, Richard and Fiona, were so helpful, and thought of everything to make the cottage comfortable, attractive and convenient. With so much historical architecture and castles to see in the area, it's no wonder the Harry Potter franchise frequently filmed there. A beautiful cottage in a stunning location. Richard and Fiona (and Monty the dog) are wonderful hosts who can’t do enough for you and the accommodation is extremely comfortable and well put together. We’ll absolutely be back.
If you want to visit Northumberland this is the place to stay. The Coach House is one of 3 simply wonderful cottages. We were lucky enough to see all of them. Each has its own distinctive character and all are beautifully designed and extremely comfortable. They are set in extensive grounds, have stunning views and lots of suggestions for activities, days out and ways to relax.
