Balnagore is a traditional sandstone former farmhouse built at the end of the 19th century, and sleeps up to 11 people.

The house sits within its’ own grounds on the edge of Machrie Moor, less than a mile from the Neolithic Standing Stone Circles.

Balnagore is accessed via a private drive, and provides ample parking for several cars.

Please visit Balnagore's page for more information, facilities, floor plan and photo's.

"Comfortable and homely accommodation with fabulous views from every window."

Lovely return visit to Balnagore. We have been addicted to this house for 26 years and it never loses its magic. Very peaceful setting. Great views over fields and hills but our favourite view is from the window above the sitting room fire looking across the sea to Kintyre. The downstairs bedroom is lovely within an incredibly comfortable bed. The house was exceptionally clean. Laura and Nick are wonderful and made sure we had everything we needed. Highly recommend the walks from the house to the standing stones and Kings Cave.

A lovely property with stunning views and plenty of space. Location is great for views and local walks but a little out of the way for the main places such as Brodick. Highly recommended though and we will be back.

We enjoyed our stay very much - many places to go, standing stones, stone circles, waterfalls, beaches, castles, alpacas, King’s caves…

Lovely "farmhouse" feel to the property with lots of space to spread out and relax. The outlook is superb and the enclosed garden is great for dogs.

I have been a Balnagore visitor for nearly 40 years and love its charm.
You need to:
1. Have a parasol in the garden
2. Respring one Sitting Room armchair (small)

This house was ideal for our multi-generational family gathering for my birthday. Virtually three wings to the property so everyone could "escape" if necessary. Quirky layout but worked for us, dogs inculded. Large enclosed garden was ideal for children and dogs, and the views were outstanding especially at sunset. Wi-fi was limited to "snug" and kitchen, but this was a bonus! But phone signal was good. We enjoyed all the "family" furniture and ornaments. Well equipped generally.
The three rating reflected the "dormitory" beds - they were too soft. And the lack of a door was very inconvenient especially in the evening as everything in large living room could be heard. We found we had to put the immersion heater on quite a lot but this reflected the off-peak rate it was fixed on.
Overall, I would strongly recommend this property - it soon felt like home.

We had a relaxing time at Balnagore, the old farmhouse was everything we had anticipated. Large comfy sofas and an open fire, just what we wanted. Open countryside surrounding us with sheep and pheasants.
The only drawback was the road closure near the cottage, it made for a long detour to Blackwaterfoot and Shiskine.
Overall, a great stay.

Balnagore is a fantastic house with plenty of space for 12 and is in a beautiful location. Arran is an incredible island and the house, situated close to Machrie moor standing stones and the beach is 2nd to none. Nick was a very friendly and helpful local contact. Our main gripe is with the large electricity costs - we knew in advance that we had to pay for electricity used but had not been aware how much more expensive island electricity costs are. But as long as you’re aware don’t let that put you off the house
