Great location and wonderful beach walks. Lodge was very nice and comfortable. Maybe a larger tv in lounge would be considered. Overall excellent

The Salty Dog has everything you need for a perfect home from home stay. It feel clean spacious and looked after to a high level.
The location is perfect allowing you to jump in a car to visit close towns but also enjoy Filey. The sight has a great selection of amenities but without it being over the top and feeling like a Butlins sight. It is premium and a beautiful place to stay

We had a lovely break at Salty Dog. We don't have a dog, however our two girls love them and definitely loved the theme of the lodge. Kids loved a visit to Flamingo land, we enjoyed a day trip to Whitby and Robin Hood Bay. Lovely sit in fish and chips at Inghams, Filey. Only issue we had during the stay was, due to the heatwave, getting to sleep at night was a bit of a challenge.

We love staying at Salty Dog, it's so peaceful, welcoming, clean and comfortable. We particularly like the comfy furniture, seaside themed decor and felt right at home from the moment we arrived as we've stayed here many times. We had fabulous hot weather all week and the provision of fans was welcome but with the windows and the bifold doors open we had a nice fresh breeze flowing through. The outside seating is great and also the nearby grassy areas for walking the dog. We needed to call Paula for help with a couple of maintenance issues which were dealt with quickly. We enjoyed a walk on the beach to Filey and caught the bus back. We also visited nearby Bridlington, Cayton Bay and Fraisthorpe beach which we'd recommend. We also had a drive to Thornton-le-Dale and Pickering for a change. There are lots of dog friendly places to eat in the area. There are books and maps available in the lounge for help with planning trips out. The onsite pub and shop are handy and we also enjoyed using the swimming pool which is a very short walk away. We look forward to visiting again.

A very nice lodge and immaculately clean. All open plan outside so could not let the dogs out
Lovely shower rooms.
We found the sofa to be very uncomfortable and low.

We are regulars at The Bay and Salty Dog is our favourite. We were lucky to have very good weather. We were warm, cosy and comfortable and had all the essentials provided plus some thoughtful extras. We enjoyed days out in nearby Filey, Bridlington and Scarborough and enjoyed breakfast at The Beach Cafe at Hunmanby Gap after checking out. We look forward to returning in the future.

This was our third stay at The Salty Dog at The Bay Filey, and it just keeps getting better every time. From the moment we arrived, it truly felt like a home away from home, everything has been so thoughtfully provided, making it easy to relax and settle in straight away.

The facilities at The Bay are fantastic, offering something for everyone and really adding to the overall experience. It’s the perfect place to unwind and enjoy a break by the coast.

We wouldn’t hesitate to highly recommend The Salty Dog to anyone looking for a comfortable and well-equipped getaway.

Second visit to the Salty Dog and it did not disappoint. The lodge is nicely decorated, very clean and very well equipped. The beds are so comfortable. Not my particular taste in settee for comfort, but that is a very minor point.

This was our first stay at Salty Dog but it definitely won’t be the last! Such a lovely, cosy, comfy, clean and well appointed property in a great location. All the little thoughtful touches made a huge difference; it felt so homely and welcoming.
Easy access to the beach and cliff-top walk. Enjoyed a swim in the indoor pool as well.
Don’t recommend eating at the pub on site though; overpriced and very bland. Lots of better options just up the road in Filey.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Salty Dog and look forward to returning again soon.

We enjoyed another stay at our favourite beach house at The Bay and the weather was brilliant. The accommodation is very comfortable and well equipped. Close to the facilities and a short walk to the beach. We enjoyed swimming in the indoor pool. We walked to Filey along the beach and caught a bus back from the bus station. There are loads of nice places to eat in the area and lots are dog friendly. We shall certainly be returning for another relaxing break.

We have stayed at The Bay many times, and I believe this is the best property we have stayed at. The property is very well equipped with everything you could need for a relaxing weekend. The main bed was exceptionally comfortable and this property (unlike many rental properties) has an oven that actually heats up well and is ft for use. Love, love, love, the Salty Dog Bag and crisps - an excellent touch!!! The property was exceptionally clean and every blanket and cover smelt freshly laundered. Hats off to the cleaning team. There is literally nothing that we could complain about for this property, it is exceptionally well looked after and was a joy to stay in - Well done!!!

As a frequent guest at The Bay, Filey, I've stayed in many of the Beach Houses, and Salty Dog is easily my favorite. The owner has clearly put a great deal of care into its maintenance and unique personal touches.

The main bed is extremely comfortable, and both the kitchen and shower rooms are in excellent condition. The charming "Salty Dog" theme is woven throughout the property, from the stained glass door and porthole to the bedding and decorative ornaments.

Its location is perfect for quick access to the beach, leisure facilities, pub, and cafe. Communication with the management team was also excellent. I will definitely be staying here again.

Salty Dog is our favourite place to stay when we visit Filey, it's so comfortable and beautifully furnished/decorated. The kitchen is well supplied with what we need for self-catering. There was also handwash and bodywash in the bathrooms. It's situated on a quiet cul de sac but close to the amenities: pub, leisure centre, shop and pharmacy. We enjoy a walk along the beach to Filey or in the opposite direction to the Beach Cafe at Hunmanby Gap (there's a nice cliff top walk to the Gap which can be accessed through a gate from the site). We look forward to returning to Salty Dog again very soon.

Absolutely loved our stay at Salty Dog. The accommodation was very clean and warm. The bed was comfy and shower superb. We had good weather some of the time and able to use the bi folding doors which was great!
We have never stayed at The Bay before but absolutely fell in love with it. It was a very clean complex with a great path to the beach. Our dog loved her time there and the beach was fantastic. A shop and a pub on the complex which we used was good.
I would highly recommend Salty Dog for anyone looking to stay with their dog they will love it !

My sister and I stayed for a weekend with 2 dogs and couldn’t be happier with the Salty Dog! The kitchen was well equipped (not that we used much!), 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms which were all clean and lovely. The dogs loved it here with the long stretch of beach up to Filey and were completely worn out and sleepy after a day on the beach
Wouldn’t hesitate to book again and thank you to Paula for arranging at short notice!

We simply love staying at The Salty Dog, the facilities are very good, the location is perfect for us and our dog to spend a few days relaxing in comfortable surroundings at any time of year. We enjoy walking along the beach to Filey and having a swim in the pool at The Bay afterwards. We also enjoy visiting Scarborough, Bridlington and Flamborough. There are lots of good dog friendly places to eat in the area (CJs in Filey is a great place for fish n chips) or you can get a takeaway and sit in the Crescent Gardens and /or visit Angela's tea room. We will soon be planning our next visit to the Salty Dog.

This is my 2nd stay at The Salty Dog. The property is lovely , comfortable seating in the lounge area , comfortable beds. Every appliance you would need in the kitchen & dog friendly too . It’s just a short walk down to the beach. Facilities on site are good but if you needed anything that the shop or chemist doesn’t provide then it’s not far to drive into Filey, less than 10 mins I’d say.
It’s also a great location to base yourself if you want to go exploring along the coast .

We had an amazing stay at Salty Dog. The accommodation was a perfect size for us (2 adults, a toddler and a dog) and was really generously stocked with everything that we needed for a really comfortable stay.

Due to the bad weather, we didn’t walk all the way to the beach but it was really easily signposted from the accommodation.

We enjoyed another very comfortable stay at Salty Dog. Everything was spot-on, very clean and very well-equipped. Nice grassy areas for the dog and a leisure stroll to the beach. We enjoyed trip to Filey and a trip to Whitby. We enjoyed a swim in the pool which is a very short walk away, and the shop was very handy for a few forgotten items but we'd booked a supermarket delivery to share with our family who were staying nearby in Blue Moon, another lovely property on the same road.
Our only complaint is that we couldn't stay longer! We look forward to returning to The Bay in the future.

We stayed at the Salty Dog at the start of the summer holidays, the lodge was perfect for us (2 adults + 2 kids + dog!). Great location and the beach was great to be able to walk down to it every day. We did a day in Bridlington as well, not too far of a drive. The actual lodge had everything we needed and nice welcome bag of goodies too plus board games and useful box of beach stuff outside! We forgot some items and they were kindly returned to us so great customer service.

We will certainly be booking again next year, we all had a great time.

The Salty dog is very well equipped and immaculatey clean, ideally located for any of the attractions on rhe East coast, its position on the Bay is also very good, close to the ammenities, but with no passing traffic or people due to its position up a cul de sac making it private. We loved our stay and would definately stop again, one small suggestion? a rotary clothes line at the back of the buikding would be useful for drying beach clothes and dog towels

We have stayed at the Salty Dog on two previous occasions and it never disappoints. It’s cleaned to a very high standard, location is fantastic.
It’s the little things that make it special like cleaning material left eg bin bags, milk in the fridge etc. Highly recommended and will be staying again.

We've stayed before at Salty Dog and it's perfect for the two of us and our dog. It's in a quiet cul de sac but near the amenities and with a grassy area to the rear. It's very comfortable and well equipped with lots of thoughtful extras. There was also a welcome pack and some milk in the fridge and ice cubes in the freezer. We enjoyed using the swimming pool and after checking out we walked to the Beach cafe at Hunmanby Gap for breakfast before heading home. We love Filey and the surrounding areas and are already planning to return.

Beautiful beach hut which has everything needed for a home from home break. Even the fur baby has his own bowls and dog treats and we love the fact that there are 'salty dog' references all over, from the tiles in the kitchen to the wooden chopping board.

Also love that it has plenty of large mugs - nothing worse when away to have those tiddly cups for your morning cuppa!

Paula is on hand and replies as soon as possible with advise and helpful tips.

Spotlessly clean which is sometimes difficult when you have a dog friendly accommodation. You wouldn't believe there has been a dog in there.

We have stayed at the Salty Dog many times and will continue to do so wherever possible although all the properties managed by Filey Bay Direct/Paula are always cleaned to the same specification.

Stayed in many different Niki Beach accommodation on this site over the years but this has to be the best one. Everything spot on and on hand, very comfy and pleasant accommodation with many lovely little touches provided for by the owner. Décor throughout high quality in all respects, like unique nature of 'Salty Dog' throughout the property, beds, particularly comfortable and a lovely cake left for us on arrival from Sara and George.

Highly recommended for a break

Great location with easy access to the beach & great walks along the sand to Filey or beyond.(tides permitting)..
The Bay complex is very well maintained, very clean & tidy..
The John Paul Jones bar/restaurant was very friendly warm serving good food & drinks and dog friendly
The Salty Dog itself is very comfortable, warm, clean & very well equipped..

The salty dog lodge was lovely. Very dog friendly and great facilities on site. 4 adults and 3 dogs stayed there was still plenty of room and very cosy.
We had all the utensils we needed to cook and all cleaning products.
The garden at the sides and back were not enclosed however still adequate grass for the fur babies to have a wee. Would recommend staying here. The only thing to be careful of is the wooden rails on the drive as they can become slippy.
A lovely stay and would definitely book and visit again. A great location near the facilities and path to the beach.

We had a great stay here. Great position on the Bay site near the pool and eateries/shops. 5 mins to the beach path. The accommodation is clean, modern and comfortable with plenty of mod cons. The only minor criticism I have is that neither of the bedroom tvs were working while we were there. However not a problem for us as we were out and enjoying the area and the room tv was fine for what we needed. We would definitely stay here again.

Just back from a relaxed short break. Great communication prior to arrival made everything straightforward to get in and settled. The Bay is a great base for the surrounding area, is peaceful and has access to a lovely beach. The salty dog is well equipped and cared for. Lots of lovely personal touches really make it feel like a home from home (but with better weather). Feels spacious even though it’s not massive and we had a great time (2 adults 2 children >12). Would love to come back if we get a chance. Highly recommend

The Salty Dog is a lovely beach house. The owner Sara had thought of every possible(almost) thing you might need. With it being warm and having the windows open, flies everywhere, could done with a fly catcher or deterrent. No coffee machine, I luckily had brought my mini Nespresso(small enough to fit in jute bag) and pods with me.
The theme of Salty Dog runs the whole house and outside on the deck, its fascinating to see it all.
Reason for mark of 4 condition it has been there a while The Salty Dog and it is beginning to show its age, flooring lifting, stains on bathroom door, dishwasher door catching, 4 for cleanliness, ceiling in both bathrooms cobwebs and dust, high ceiling so need a ladder to reach. Unfortunately watch too much 'four in a bed' and now spot these things. My son said the telly in the living area was too small to see and had to pull sofa forward.
Although none of these problems will stop me going back, it was a lovely homely place for a get away, very quiet on site. Had free use of gym and pool and other activities.
Sleeping very important, lovely firm mattress and cooling duvet. Have been to other place and they don't think to put a lower tog duvet on in the warm months, Sara had obviously thought of this, a godsend.
Thoroughly recommend staying here.

What a place, it's absolutely fantastic. From the day of booking to the day of leaving Paula has been so helpful and nothing has been too much trouble. The property is beautiful, there are many querky ornaments and the pictures are gorgeous. The dogs kept sniffing at one draw in particular and it was full of dog toys which they loved. Cleanliness is one thing both my wife and myself commented on, it was impeccable. The welcome bag has some really nice goodies in it too, we've brought the bag home and I'll be using it to take my lunch to work with to remind me how much we and the dogs loved the place. One last thing, the bed is sooo comfortable and I loved the rocking chair so much were thinking of buying one for home. Highly recommended.

Well what can I say. We are in the hospitality industry with our own luxury accommodation business on the edge of York and we needed a well earned short break at short notice. Salty Dog beach house was just the answer. We set out standards extremely high and we were not disappointed in the slightest. The attention to detail that has been put into the house is just gorgeous. It was myself, my wife, our little 3yr old girl and our crazy Cockapoo Woody. We had just the best time with lovely walks on the beautiful Filey beach to Humanby. Swimming in the pool and some food in the local pub. I would thoroughly recommend and we plan to return later on the year when our own business hartlakeescapes.com allows. We returned feeling refreshed, Thank you

Loved the place. Everything we needed was there. It had all the nice little touches which made our stay special from the welcome pack to biscuits for the dog. Clean and well equipped. The lodge is nicely decorated and we loved the porthole windows. The bed in the master bedroom was so comfy and the bedding and towels a nice quality.

One slight negative is the sleepers leading up to the door from the road. They are slightly uneven and slippy when wet, so care needs to be taken.

This was our 3rd visit to the Salty Dog. It is situated in a clean & tidy cul de sac area that has a distinctive coastal theme.. There are parking facilities next to the cabin constructed of old sleepers which is a little uneven underfoot but does allow for easy loading & unloading of your vehicle..
On opening the door into the cabin it was nice to find a welcome pack of treats.
The cabin has a well equipped kitchen area and has all the appliances you need. Cleaning equipment & materials are also provided.
There is a cozy open lounge area with modern TV with a built in DVD player with a choice of DVD films provided. Bi-folding patio doors at the front of the cabin look out to the bench seated area, which is occasionally visited by robins & other wild birds..(We like to put out bird seed to attract them and watch from the comforts
inside.)
There are two clean & comfortable good sized bedrooms both with plenty of storage and with clean & modern on-suits attached to both.
The cabin is warm throughout with an easy to use thermostat control system, so you can adjust the temperature to your liking.
There are lots of little touches throughout the cabin to make it a homely stay…
Overall the Bay complex is well maintained and provides a. number of entertainment opportunities..
The beach is only a 15min walk away and you can very easily stroll all the way to Filey, tides permitting.
We are very much looking forward to returning again..
