This is the second time we have booked the Hay Barn. It is perfect and is very spacious and immaculately clean. Has everything you need and more. We could park the car immediately outside the front door which is not always the case. I am partially disabled so the ensuite was particularly good. I like the sun but we went for a week during the heat wave at the end of June - very hot and humid.

Our first visit to Rutland, but not our last. We enjoyed this lovely county with its beautiful villages, interesting gardens and user friendly towns, as well as a scenic cruise on Rutland Water.
The Hay Barn was an excellent base to explore the area and nowhere seemed too far to drive. The property itself is comfortable and we settled in very easily. Everything we needed was provided and we enjoyed the visits from the handsome bull!
Rutland would appear to be an excellent choice at any time of the year with so much on offer, and the Hay Barn is ideally placed to access it.
Thank you!

We had a relaxing enjoyable stay. Every possible thing you could need for every day living with a little luxury an accessible property which does not look or feel like a hospital or care home.

Our 2nd stay in this delightful cottage, and although the weather wasn't as kind to us, we still had a relaxing few days away. The villages are beautiful, the pubs are friendly, their food on the whole delicious. Sitting outside the lodge watching the cows wandering past was a joy.
The EV chargers made our holiday so easy, it was definitely a bonus.

Spotless high quality fully equipped accommodation with all mobility needs tastefully integrated into the design. Sarah thoughtfully even includes basic supplies to get you started and the sorrounding Rutland area and villages are a delight to explore. Really comfortable with a lovely rural outlook.

We loved our recent stay in The Hay Barn, it was so cosy, clean, relaxing and comfortable. Beautifully presented and we had pretty much all that we needed but would have appreciated a bread bin to put Sue's delicious home made bread in. The welcome pack was very generous and appreciated and we will treasure the hessian bag, which will be extremely useful in the future. The Super King zip and link bed was so comfortable and the bedding of a very high quality. Rutland is a beautiful County and for us it was a chance to re-visit old haunts from 20 years ago when we lived in the area.

We would highly recommend this delightful holiday accommodation. Thank you Sarah for your kind assistance during our stay, It was much appreciated.

The Hay Barn is just the perfect property for a stay. We received such a fabulous welcome on arrival and as it had been such a warm day it was great to see that extra little bit of detail that the curtains had been kept closed so we entered to a lovely cool building.
It’s also great you can abandon your car on arrival as Uppingham is in walking distance and it’s so much nicer to explore on foot I think. And if we want to go that wee bit further electric bikes are available.
Although supposedly on holiday, as my own boss I still had a little bit of work to do. So this morning I find myself sitting outside with a coffee, toast (bread, home made from our hosts) and the laptop open. Such a relaxing, idyllic space with wifi so that I can get that little piece of work done before enjoying the rest of the day.
But also taking this small piece of time to write a review as I shouldn’t be the only one able to enjoy this fabulous stay.

This was a beautiful property. We have stayed at The Stables before another of Sarah's properties and this was equally good if not even better. It was beautifully layed out and we will be returning.

We enjoyed our short break at thr Hay Barn. It is well located for local attractions, Uppingham , Rutland Water and Stamford and is surrounded by great views over the countryside.
The amenities were excellent, one of us is a wheelchair user. The accommodation is spacious with good circulation space, throughout, very useful around the bed and bathroom. . We loved the patio area with its pretty flower bed. The property is finished to a high standard. The welcome pack is very thoughtful and all concerned are very helpful

Luxury accommodation in a beautiful setting. This is our second visit to Castle Chase but our first to the Hay Barn. The property is gorgeous throughout. It has a very pretty enclosed garden area with uninterrupted views of open countryside. Sarah and the Team are brilliant hosts, nothing is too much trouble, always welcoming and friendly. A lot of thought has gone into making the Hay Barn a special and relaxing place to stay, fully accessible, dog friendly with many attractions close by. Thank you Team Castle Chase.

A wonderful location, superb accommodation, excellent consideration for our comfort.

This is our second stay at Castle Chase, first the Tack Room and now The Hay Barn.
If you don’t want to read all of this review, here is the bottom line :- It may be listed as one bedroom, but all the parts of the accommodation are enormous. There is so much space you could almost get lost. There is nothing the owners, Sarah in particular, haven’t thought of. If you have stayed in a suite of a 5-star hotel, then this is better. The attention to detail is enviable, and Sarah (and Helen the “Housekeeper”) are absolutely committed to ensure that you enjoy your stay and have everything you need. I would challenge anyone to find fault anywhere.

The location is beautiful and peaceful, adjacent to the wonderful herd of Cows that the farm breed. We took many photos of them because they looked so friendly. On two of the evenings, we were treated to a wonderful ariel display of around 20 long eared brown bats hunting for insects over the field, truly spectacular and so rare to see.
As to the accommodation, it is a one bedroomed accommodation, but small or cramped it most certainly is not! The bed was a super king and very comfortable, and yet looked quite small against the very large room, with multiple power outlets, a dressing table and extremely large wardrobe and a vaulted ceiling. A floor to ceiling window doubling as a door, and presenting a great view of the fields.
The living and kitchen area is enormous, again with a vaulted ceiling, multiple dimmable lighting massive amount of storage and worktops and just about any dining utensil or machines you could imagine. The views again are fantastic with multiple aspects, including double sliding patio doors leading to a patio and grassed area all enclosed by a secure wooden picket fence. Particularly helpful if you have a dog.
The bathroom was again much larger than most homes would accommodate, including a large walk-in shower / wet room and again a vaulted ceiling with electric skylight.
The places we found interesting to visit were Launde Abbey, Oakham Castle and Rutland water, all within about a 15-minute drive, and we hope to be staying with Castle Chase again, if only to relax and rest in that 6ft wide bed and watch the cows stroll by in the morning!

After staying in the Stables 3 times and the Tack twice we were a bit apprehensive before we arrived. That soon disappeared as we entered the Hay Barn. The team at Castle Chase have excelled themselves. In our opinion the Hay Barn was excellent for two plus our dog. Looking forward to booking again in 2026.
