We stayed here with our family, including Grandparents. It had been a previously hot week so I was worried about the house being too hot. It actually stayed very cool in the house.
We have been coming to the Lower Mill estate for 7 years now, and this is the first time we have stayed at this house and we absolutely loved it. The location could not be more perfect on the site. It is close to both the spa pool and mill village. It has a fantastic launch right in front of the property onto the best lake, but also you could easily paddle across the lake, get out and walk a few minutes and re launch into the largest lake if you wanted to. We personally think our lake which interconnects the lakes by a little passageway , under a bridge is far more interesting than a huge expanse of lake.
As the launch is private and off the garden, this meant grandparents could sit and watch us all on the lake. We had a windy, slightly cooler day , so we made use of the roof terrace in the daytime. It was lovely up there and walls kept the wind at bay.
Overall it was a perfect week with plenty of space, in a beautifully decorated house with private launch and nearly perfect weather. What more could you ask for?
If I was asked for any improvements that would have helped us there were only two minor things. My daughter would have liked a mirror in her bedroom ( she’s a teenager and was in the bunk bed room) maybe the option of a small vanity mirror on the desk, or a full length mirror on the wall, but I completely understand that the room will also be used for younger children, which is why it is minor and as I say it helps our family.
Secondly, it would be helpful to have a drinks fridge, it’s a good size fridge freezer for the house but by the time you have filled it with some food for all the family we did struggle with bottles of wine etc, as they take up so much space. Again this may not affect another family as we do like a drink.
Overall, a beautiful house in a perfect location with fantastic facilities and nearby to everything. Annabel was easy to contact in case of any problems, or if we needed to know anything. I would definitely recommend and would love to return again.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely review - I am so pleased that you all enjoyed yourselves and Heron's Hide was the perfect place to stay for the whole family. I have taken your suggestions on board and plan to put full length mirrors in the bedrooms that don't already have them and buy another fridge to put in the utility room. We hope to be able to host you again in the future.
