A group of old school and uni friends come here every year and it's always brilliant. There is a pub/restaurant directly opposite, a cheese and beer shop below, and you can walk to Kinder Scout from the accommodation. It really has everything you need! New Mills has some decent eateries and pubs, and the Torr Vale Mill is set into a stunning valley and hydro.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here, the suite was lovely and cosy with brick walls and windows with views of the stunning grounds. It feels like stepping into its own little world. The restaurant was great as well! Thanks for a lovely well needed rest :)
What an amazing location the Fireman's House is in, tucked away down by the river Goyt surrounded by centuries of fantastic architecture and industrial archaeology. Credit to those who have rescued the mill and its buildings since it closed. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, as well as the on-site cheese and beer shop and tap room with their excellent, helpful and friendly staff. New Mills is a cracking little town with loads of independent shops and friendly folk. All the pubs were great and welcomed us and our dog. However (I'm afraid there is a however) the house left us a bit disappointed...more
Not a good set up for a bridal suite - very very early check out for previous bride results in embarrassing overlaps and tensions at change over. Having a separate bridal suite to get ready in on premise would massively improve this for bride and groom. Air bnb style, therefore no customer service. Accommodation is pleasant but nothing to write home about - there are notably better value air bnbs in walking distance from this one. Voucher included for cafe, but cafe service is questionable.
