Aitken House was beautiful, well thought through and very well equipped. Sleeping arrangements were set up ideally for the group staying and contact with the hosts was excellent in the run up to the stay. A particular highlight is the beautiful, large kitchen space. The hot tub of course, is an added bonus and staff come to check it every morning. The house is in a fantastic location for walking and is close to local amenities.

A few things to improve our stay;

- The water from the taps is extremely hot, and could easily scald you, particularly if a child unknowingly puts their hands under the hot tap. A sign next to the taps to warn how hot the water is would be beneficial for safety reasons.

-The games room should be re advertised, as though it is a welcomed addition and was well used during our stay, it is not as advertised.

- We were lucky enough to experience beautiful weather during our stay; the bedrooms become very warm. However, due to being situated on a very busy main road, it was very difficult to sleep with the windows open. There are signs to advise considering the planet and keeping windows closed, however, there were no fans provided to help cope with the heat in the bedrooms. These would be a welcomed addition.

We were a group of friends comprising 6 adults, 2 children and 2 dogs. The house was perfect with plenty of space. The layout has been thoughtfully planned. The bedrooms are all big and we spent most of our time in the huge kitchen diner/snug and garden.
There's loads of great walks on the doorstep or a short drive away.
We loved the house and the area and would love to go back.

We had a wonderful stay as a family,we had glorious sunshine….luckily we brought our own fans but would suggest some fans for the bedrooms in the summer months as it does get hot upstairs.

We asked for a sun parasol due to little shade and it was brought to the house within the hour by the lovely team.

Nothing was too much trouble and communication prior and during our stay was brilliant , beautiful big kitchen for all the family to gather around which was nice, felt like home away from home. ☺️.
Would definitely stay again.

Highly recommended. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We had a wonderful stay at this lovely 5-bedroom house with our two dogs. The property catered to everything we needed and was well-equipped for both adults and children. The table tennis was a huge hit with the kids and kept them entertained for hours.

The location is quite secluded (shops can be easily accessed via car), which was exactly what we were looking for. There are fantastic walks right from the doorstep, with direct access to the Pennine Trail, making it ideal for dog owners and anyone who enjoys the outdoors. We also found all the local people to be incredibly friendly and welcoming.

If you’re looking for a relaxing escape away from the hustle and bustle, this is definitely the place for you. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return.

Clear instructions given on arrival for check in and instructions provided within the house. We didn’t experience any issues whilst there but was provided with a contact number should we require anything ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

We had a lovely stay. We were a family of 6 adults that needed a getaway after a close family bereavement and it was just what we all needed. We had never stayed in anything like this before, the rooms were lovely, comfy beds, well decorated and thought out and plenty of room. The lounges were ideal if you wanted to sit and have some quiet time. We spent most of our time in the kitchen/diner as it was so big. The kitchen was lovely, well equipped and everything easily accessible (when you could remember what was in what cupboard). We loved all sitting around the big dining table for dinner, playing games and chatting about our day.
I would definitely recommend any of these houses if you are looking for a peaceful get away.

We booked this house for a family gathering. We were a group of 10 including an elderly relative and a 14 month old. The house was easy to find using the directions provided. We were met and welcomed when we arrived. There was plenty of easy parking at the front of the property. We parked 6 cars with ease and didn't need to do any juggling around when people needed to go out. There is a large sociable kitchen that extends into an area with large sofas with a TV. The kitchen was well equipped for self catering and there is a large fridge freezer. There are 2 further large living rooms with plenty of seating which we didn't actually need to use apart from 2 of our party using one room for quiet study. The stairs have very good fitted wooden gates that can be used for child safety or the restriction of dogs. All bedrooms were large, well presented, had very comfortable mattresses, pillows and good quality bedding. There were good quality towels. There are 2 bathrooms with shower and a large bath in the bathroom on the top floor. Whilst facing onto a main road, we were not conscious of road noise. The garden is dog proof, neat and would be lovely for a BBQ in good weather. The hot tub is a great bonus and we enjoyed using it. It was maintained daily during our stay. We have previously used hot tubs that smell strongly of chemicals, this was not the case here. The 'games room' was rudimentary and we didn't use it.

Our Family had a fabulous weekend at the house. Easy to find, very clean, very spacious & comfortable, we felt like we were staying in a mansion.
Only suggestion would be to include condiments in welcome pack and maybe some seating on the decking outside the back door.

The house and grounds were well looked after, with plenty of crockery, cutlery and seating and general space for the whole family - 10 of us from 2-70 years old. The kitchen is enormous and well equipped. Cooking for ourselves was easy because of the facilities. Bedding and towels were very good quality.
Wentworth Castle is nearby and we called in there on route to the house.
The Trans-Pennine trail provided us with one objective for children on bikes and others on foot. The grounds were safe for the children and the pool table was welcome. The hot tub was spacious and well maintained.
On Easter Sunday we ventured over to Elsecar Heritage Centre where we had a very pleasant time.

Lovely house, nicely furnished, comfortable, clean and well equipped. Great for a friends gathering. The catering option was excellent for our Saturday night meal. Andrew provided delicious meals at very reasonable price. Easy to prepare after a long day walking. Would highly recommend.
