Had our family reunion at this idyllic Vesta View and Shepherd's Retreat near Humshaugh. Location perfect surrounded by chickens, sheep, lambs and cows ... The house was ideal and catered for my brother in a wheelchair. Beds so comfortable and the welcome hampers were so very welcome as we'd forgot the milk! Did the sycamore gap trail - a bit late to see the tree. Went to Beamish museum, vindalanda , The Sill and the star gazing at Twice Brewed - meal in the pub, then a presentation on the universe , unfortunately didn't get to see the stars as it rained - but still worth it.
Everybody in our party of 9 really enjoyed our stay. The property was exceptionally clean and well-presented and we very much appreciated the welcome pack. Our best compliment relates to the fact that we have no complaints and/or recommendations for change.
Amazing Views and great location for all things Roman. The property was warm, well equipped in every room with touches of luxury provided which were appreciated.
