Had our family reunion at this idyllic Vesta View and Shepherd's Retreat near Humshaugh. Location perfect surrounded by chickens, sheep, lambs and cows ... The house was ideal and catered for my brother in a wheelchair. Beds so comfortable and the welcome hampers were so very welcome as we'd forgot the milk! Did the sycamore gap trail - a bit late to see the tree. Went to Beamish museum, vindalanda , The Sill and the star gazing at Twice Brewed - meal in the pub, then a presentation on the universe , unfortunately didn't get to see the stars as it rained - but still worth it.
We spent Christmas week at Vesta View as a group of seven (extended) family members, and it was absolutely perfect. Kevin and Leah are exceptional hosts who did everything to make our stay special. We arrived to a decorated tree and a lovely welcome hamper, including delicious homemade cake and granola, which was a wonderful touch. The property itself is spacious enough that our large group never felt crowded, yet cozy for presents and big family dinners. Lovely holiday cottage with everything provided for a relaxing stay. Comfortable beds and quality linens and towels. Beautiful location, easy access to all areas for the Roman Wall and Northumberland.
