The accommodation was very spacious and all the rooms were large. The underfloor heating downstairs was a great feature,although as the weather was very good while we were there we didn't always need it. The property was very clean and well-equipped with kitchen utensils and plenty of fridge and freezer space. It was so quiet and peaceful and ideal for a holiday away from everything.
The owner Oscar was very welcoming and very responsive when we had any queries or problems. The position of the cottage was good for exploring the Dumfries coastline and of course the beautiful weather we had made it a very enjoyable holiday for us.

We had a fantastic stay at Barwhillanty Estate in the Stables. As two families travelling together, we couldn't have been happier with the experience. The accommodation was spacious, with large rooms that were impeccably clean. The four bedrooms, including one en-suite, and three generously-sized bathrooms provided plenty of space for everyone. The estate is set in a picturesque location, surrounded by beautiful scenery and many nearby places to explore.

Sheena, the estate owner/custodian, was incredibly welcoming and responsive, guiding us all the way to the property. She made us feel completely comfortable and was very flexible with our late check-in, which we greatly appreciated. The check-in process itself was seamless, thanks to Sheena’s detailed instructions.

From the moment we arrived, we loved everything about our stay. Overall, we were thoroughly impressed with the booking and the experience and would highly recommend Barwhillanty Estate to anyone looking for a cottage in Dumfries.

We had a wonderful time on the estate away from the hustle and bustle of city living. The Stables were very comfortable, homely and spacious. My family and I would certainly like to return there.

Everything was wonderful an amazing cottage in an amazing quiet area where we needed exactly. Mrs. Sheena & Mr. Richard were kindly helpful. Everything we needed was available.
We only wish the network would be better in the area

The Stables is a lovely property situated in the middle of Barwhillantry estate, surrounded by beautiful gardens. The estate provided scenic walks with forests and lochs. The location was great for exploring Galloway, which is a beautiful part of Scotland. We recommend getting a vegetable basket from the estate, it was full of freshly picked and interesting produce.

Our friends stayed at Stable House for our wedding in the walled gardens. They had a wonderful stay and were blown away with the comfortable accommodation in the beautiful surroundings. There was great information about the local area and all guests were delighted with the lovely big kitchen and living space to socialise in. All of the spaces were very clean and tidy and they felt very well looked after throughout. Would highly recommend to any visitors to the local area. Thank you!

We really enjoyed the peace and quiet in this spacious and comfortable home. There were walks and cycle paths all around the estate. One cloudless night we took advantage of the lack of light pollution to gaze at the stars and caught sight of the Milky Way.

Very big and spacious house perfect for relaxing as a family and with all the comforts/amenities that you would need. The grounds of the estate are gorgeous and nothing was too much trouble.

We had a fabulous stay at The Stables; the setting was ideal and we thoroughly enjoyed our walks around the estate and yoga in the walled garden with the delightful Maria - the owners are such a lovely family. It's a shame that we couldn't stay for pizza and games in the garden on our last day. The estate is so peaceful and secluded but still close enough to towns, activity centres and the beach.

We had a wonderful stay in the Stables. It is spacious, light and very comfortable for up to 8 adults or 2 families. The whole estate is beautiful and so relaxing to be in - lots of paths to walk, run and cycle. The yoga session with Maria in the stunning walled garden was a perfect end to our week. We hope to return to try out the aerial yoga or join one of the yoga retreats when those open up. Castle Douglas is a short drive away with good restaurants including Mr Pooks and Nikos. The estate is well located for getting to any of the nearby mountain bike parks and the Galloway Forest.
