Beautiful accommodation a few miles from Cockermouth. It’s actually part of Tallentire Hall itself. Furnishings are plain but high quality. Huge rooms with high ceilings and elegant period windows. Well equipped kitchen with ample storage space. Comfortable beds. Option of super king or twin beds in second bedroom. Heating easily adjustable and plenty of hot water. Choice of feather or synthetic pillows. Nice warm airing cupboard for drying wet clothes. Lots of grounds to explore. Lovely welcome pack: eggs, milk, chocolate brownies, tea, coffee etc. The only improvements I could suggest are a reading light in the sitting room and some extra heating in the kitchen as it could be chilly at times. Overall we had a very enjoyable stay, thank you!

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay would definately return and also the personal little touches like the welcome treats was a lovely bonus too. Our Rodney (the dog ) his first holiday enjoyed too, thank you

Really enjoyed staying with these lovely people in superb accommodation. Ann and Martin could not have done more for us. We felt very welcome from the start. We were warm and comfortable all the time. Superb Kitchen with everything you might need including a welcome pack. Everything had been furnished so tastefully to a very high standard. Will definately go again.

We enjoyed a great family break at Tallentire between Christmas and New Year. The hall is beautiful and the adjoining cottage we stayed in was really spacious, and well equipped. It is close to the historic towns of Cockermouth and Keswick and the beautiful lakes of Bassenthwaite and Buttermere. There are acres of grounds to walk in, and some great dog walks locally. There are also lots of good pubs and restaurants available within a short drive for those who want to try the food and hospitality on offer locally. The owners are really kind and helpful, and we looking forward to staying again in the future.

This was the perfect base for visiting the Solway Firth coast, and the northern Lakes. The cottage was everything we had hoped for, clean, quiet, with lots of nice touches. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. All in all, a thoroughly enjoyable relaxing week in the Lake District. Even the weather behaved.

Fantastic location, beautiful cottage. Very grateful for the lovely welcome gift pack and our cockerpoo also loved her treats too. Very well equipped for dogs, & an added bonus of a dog shower at the stables. We had a slight problem with hot water, but it was sorted instantly and generously given a lovely bottle of wine as an apology. Very well equipped house & kitchen, every thing you will need is there. We will definitely be back. ❤

A brilliant, peaceful location for exploring the Western and Northern Fells of the Lake District.
Lovely accommodation with many fine details that made the stay relaxing and pleasurable.
The welcome pack was the best we have had and very generous.
Local pub was a proper pub, which added to the holiday.
Hosts were helpful, welcoming and went above and beyond to make our holiday a success.
We shall return. Thank you.

Our second stay at Gamekeepers Cottage. Just as good as the first stay - a perfect cottage for some peace and tranquility in the very grand setting of Tallentire Hall. The cottage has everything you need and the location is just a short drive to some of the best scenery and walks in the Lake District. There is outdoor dining furniture and a fire pit on the garden terrace for the enjoyment of guests and an initial supply of kindling and logs is provided to get you started. A great feature of this cottage is the very large drying cupboard under the staircase which is excellent to get your kit dry if it’s been raining. The local free house pub (5 min walk from the cottage) is also great and prides itself on the quality of its real ales - just the ticket after a day out walking. We also ate there on Thursday evening - really tasty food and very reasonably priced too.

An amazing holiday cottage ! We were really impressed and immediately booked for a further stay

An excellent property situated in its own grounds in a quiet village. Great for just chilling out.
Only a short drive from Cockermouth, Keswick and Carlisle.
If you like walking and being out in the countryside there are plenty of tracks straight from the property or through the village.

Absolutely fantastic cottage. Couldn't fault it; extremely clean, great location, well appointed and Ann and Martin were the perfect hosts.
Difficult to say whether the humans or the dogs were most spoilt, the fully enclosed paddock for the dogs was very well used and the treats provided much appreciated.
We shall be back!
