Bankside Cottage is a traditional stone holiday cottage located in Milldale, in the heart of the Peak District National Park. Delightful cottage in peaceful village. Breathtaking scenery on your doorstep. Would highly recommend the Dovedale walk. Within easy reach of Ashbourne for shops and takeaways (Golden Hill Chinese and Market Place fish and chips were great). Would highly recommend. It was our second stay and we will be back. Vicki is a very helpful host.

The cottage is really lovely with everything you could need for a week away, nicely done out with a mix of modern and traditional cottage. Location is fantastic, we loved being so close to Dovedale and having access to the Tissington bike trail was a real bonus. Also very handy for Alton Towers as only 30mins away. Lots of great walks on the doorstep and easy bike rides once on the trail north and south. Tissington village is beautiful!
We enjoyed the small garden, having breakfast and a bbq there plus the ice cream shop at the bottom of the road was a great incentive to get the kids walking and cycling! Hope to return next year!

Absolutely stunning cottage! We stayed for a week in April, just before the Easter weekend. Beautifully clean and well equipped cottage, with very comfortable furniture and beds. I loved the cooking range and made great use of it. The surrounding areas are perfect for walks, and the ice-cream shop at the end of the lane was wonderful. We will definitely return. A very comfortable cosy cottage. Well equipped with quality gadgets and utensils. Very responsive host. Beautiful location, you can walk almost straight out of the door onto the Dove Trail. Can recommend the farm shop/cafe in Hartington at the top end of the trail.

We had lovely stay at Bankside cottage. The location is perfect for peace and quiet, the welcome basket was a lovely surprise and the folder about the cottage and the surrounding area is full of great information. Only a short drive(15 mins) into Ashbourne so not far to travel if you need supermarket etc. Bed is a little soft but that is just our personal preference, however its a huge bed so very spacious! The cottage is very well equipped with pretty much everything you need. The dog was very comfortable too. Plenty of options for short or long walks from the door, also not a long drive at all to other places we visited like Bakewell market, Carsington reservoir, Ecclesbourne Valley Railway for a steam train ride with the dog! There were many other places we discovered all within easy reach to get too from the cottage.

Lovely cottage, with good quality fixtures and fittings, having been recently done up (by the looks of it). The kitchen had all the utensils you'd need, and although on the small side, was more than adequate. The separate laundry was a bonus. The master bedroom was particularly spacious, but the two other bedrooms were om the small side. With the two two-seater sofas, the sitting room is ideal for four adults or two adults and up to 4 children. There is an outdoor seating area but no more than that, which was a downside. The front door opens directly onto the road, which luckily is quiet, but you need to be careful with children and dogs. The cottage is set in a valley so the drive/walk out is quite steep, and there's a lovely walk nearby to Dovedale stepping stones.

Bankside cottage is a charming stone cottage, cleverly modernised to a comfortable standard with a couple of quirks.

Location is wonderful at top of Dovedale, with lovely (and easy) walks at your doorstep. The number of walkers passing by using the close public carparks is proof this is at a prime location.

There was little to fault with the accomodation. Only niggles would be the doorknobs upstairs were incredibly hard to turn. My 8 year old daughter needed help. As there is understanadbly no extractor fan in the kitchen, it would have been nice with a door to close towards the lounge to reduce the spreading of frying odours. Ah, and it would have been nice with a key to the second front door.

Weather was not the best, and it was quite cold when the heating was not on. An email asking the host to turn the heating on for longer was answered straigth away, and it was a good temperature from then on.

I really loved the Everhot cooker. In this Cottage it makes perfect sense to have something like this giving off background warmth, and with more time to make the most of it. Just temember to turn it on well in advance of needing the ovens. There are 2 x induction hobs which are superb if you are in a hurry.

Did a slow cook dinner in the lower oven (Using the hot plate to sear the meat, which came out lovely, and in contrast the even heat in the top oven resulted in a lovely pizza.

Bedrooms and beds are really nice. Ample storage. My daughter loved the bunk bed, and my son loved the double bed all to himself.

I needed to use the washing machine and the tumble dryer. Fabulous.

I would. We have been a lot of times in Peak district, and I think this is one of the best, if not the best accomodation we have had.

Yes. Weather was not the best, and admittedly my mind was a bit elsewhere, but all in all this was a good stay.

We had a lovely half-term break in Bankside Cottage. The location was perfect for country walks, only a few hundred yards from the start of the Dovedale trail which is stunningly beautiful with lots of interest for the kids too. It’s also only a few miles from Ashbourne which was very useful for shopping and takeaways. We would highly recommend the Old Dog in Thorpe for an evening meal and a few beers. The cottage itself was fabulous. Cosy rooms with high end fittings in the bathroom and kitchen and a huge comfy bed in the master bedroom. My daughter really enjoyed looking at the stars from the little back garden when it turned dark. Would highly recommend and would love to return again in the future.

Cosy cottage. Lovely bathroom, great shower and nice bedding. Lots of walks from the door. Only downside is no back door into garden so had to pop dogs on lead out the front door to take them up steps to back garden. I think they got used to it quicker than me!

Beautiful cottage with everything you need for a very comfortable holiday ...everything has been thought of from a much appreciated welcome pack to guide books / entertainment / bikes and helmets / full washing and drying facilities and even a Nespresso coffee machine! Sunny garden captures the afternoon and evening sun. Location is perfect - just a minute walk from the river then you can take your pick...ice cream at Pollys or a walk to Dovedale, or Tissington, or Alstonefield etc....all doable from the cottage without need of a car.

Bankside is a great winter get away, a very warm and cozy cottage.

Walking from here is breath taking the dove valley surpased expectations.

We recently enjoyed a very comfortable and enjoyable stay in Bankside cottage. The owners have obviously put a lot thought into making sure their guests have all they need. There was even a basket of some local produce waiting for us on arrival which was a nice touch. The cottage itself is tastefully decorated and had lots of character. Would definitely stay again.
