Stayed at the Rookery for a family wedding nearby and party at Strawberry fields. Plenty of space for us,beds downstairs too firm for me...wish I hadn't let daughter have first dibs on rooms as hers upstairs was lovely...she also had great hot shower but downstairs were barely warm. Lovely walks around estate and I love the cows!! We also had family in other accommodation and it was lovely to get together on the patio area.

A good property for the family Christmas, but just a few niggles meant that I haven't given this property 5 star.
The estate is lovely and we enjoyed walking the dogs around this before heading out to the coast and spending times with in laws. Hot water was the issue and ingress of water following a very wet week. The owner did try to rectify this issue but the temperature for the showers remained. tepid. We did ask for a potato masher but this didn't arrive. We did ask for the water ingress to be looked at but again, this wasn't rectified. We had to soak it up with the towels.
Our bathroom also smelt damp and indeed the walls were damp. I do understand that this can be an issue in older properties, but feel that this should be looked at.
It gets busy at Christmas and we understood this or would have asked again for the issues to be sorted.

The Rookery was wonderful even better than what we expected, and the welcome pack was a wonderful surprise. All rooms were immaculate, and everything we would need was provided. The staff ware all extremely helpful especially as we had to change our dates. We would definitely stay again and will recommend to all our friends.
This was an amazing place to spend some quality time with the children in half term.

The Rookery was an amazing place to stay and we thoroughly enjoyed a relaxed half-term with the children. The two downstairs bedrooms with en-suites made the stay extra special as I didn't have to look at the mess my children make, which is always a bonus! The accommodation was clean and well laid out which meant it was comfortable and homely. There were some games and DVD's accessible and also the kitchen was well equipped for all meals. Strawberry fields was a lovely visit, especially as we arrived for pumpkin fest and the kids were able to go and pick their own pumpkins from the field. They loved doing this and the meal after in the restaurant was also very tasty. The only two things I would add as a suggestion for the accommodation would be a tumble dryer and a curtain for the front door. These did not make our stay any worse but having them would have just been a bonus.

The Rookery is.a very spacious, well equipped and comfortable cottage to stay in. An en-suite to every bedroom is amazing and hot water in abundance. With Strawberry Field's farm shop within walking distance makes Self Catering so much easier. The walks around the Wooladon Estate were lovely. Would recommend a stay there and will be staying again at some point.

We had a fab week at Wooladon. The cottage was really lovely and the kids and dog loved the grounds especially the lake.
Beautiful surroundings - perfect for dogs and the lake for fishing was stunning.

The accommodation suited our two families very well. The grounds were spot on for walks with the dogs and the lake was an excellent escape for peace and quiet while fishing. Just the one barbecue for three cottages? We found the mattress's very hard so some disturbed sleep was had. Unfortunately we ran out of loo rolls the day before we left so that was fun........ (not)! The welcome pack was gratefully received and enjoyed. A 4 1/2 hour journey from Lincolnshire so we won't be back but that is probably the only reason.

We came to Devon for a wedding our daughter and her husband came so my husband and I and his cousin could go off and leave our dog with her, they loved it as her husband could go fishing and she had lovely walks with the dog, the accommodations are lovely home from home we enjoyed putting the escaped goatee back in their pen, the only downside was we could not have our meals at the Strawberry Fields restaurant as they don’t let dogs in apart from that we loved our stay.

Great location for exploring both Devon and Cornwall. Really easy to find as so close to the main road but you would never realise it as it feels very secluded. No light pollution or noise once at the property.
Loved being able to walk to the Farm Shop near by (Strawberry Fields) who serves a fabulous breakfast.
Kitchen well stocked, lovely small welcome pack on arrival.

I was with you in June and suggested en American type fridge as the existing fridge is far to small for 6/8 people.still only one toilet roll per bedroom (feel this is very mean) . The hot water is at a very hot temperature and it was the same in June it is only a matter off time before someone is badly burnt , please God it's not a child!!.

We had such a lovely week in the rookery. The estate was beautiful and for a few days we had goats in the field opposite, they were very shy, but lovely to see. Strawberry fields farm shop and restaurant was just up the road and we made full use of them. The fresh food in the farm shop was particularly nice and we barbecued quite a lot of it! We would definitely recommend going.

This cottage was around the 20th we’ve rented for our ‘stay at home’ holidays over the last 16 years and this is in our top three! We were a group of 9 so also rented Pheasant Barn as well, plenty of room for us all to sit together and dine together in The Rookery. The communal gardens with seating areas are just divine and we made full use of the lakes and grounds of the Wooladon Estate. The Farm Shop, although a little expensive, has top quality food and the restaurant does a good breakfast. We really appreciated the welcome package in the cottages of a cream tea, a lovely touch and very tasty. A great central spot to visit lots of areas; Bude, Tintagel, Plymouth, Dartmouth, but you could easily spend the week simply relaxing on the estate with lovely walls and scenery. We WILL be returning, we loved our holiday. Thank you

The only two negatives was it could do with an American type fridge as we were struggling with only three off us to keep cans off beer, cider, wine, orange juice, and all the food needed in the fridge, and we thought it was a bit mean only one toilet roll per room you don't wont to have to buy them when on holiday. But everything else was excellent thank you.

We have stayed in The Rookery many times now, we love our stay there and it is an ideal house for our families to come together. The improvements made to The Rookery since our last stay are great, the showers were much better. The estate is beautiful, the dogs thoroughly enjoyed their walks around it. The lake and pontoon were a fun place to visit too. The farm shop is as amazing as ever. Thanks for another amazing stay.

We have a great stay within The Rookery lodge. There were 6 adults and a dog "Colin". We had a complimentary cream tea at strawberry field farm shop and restaurant which was very yummy!
On arrival to the estate you follow a long lane which passes farm land and pretty ponds, leading onto the beautiful accommodation. There is plenty of parking available for all the lodges. Opposite the accommodation was a mummy goat and her baby, she was super cute but also a little bit of a cheeky lady as she kept getting out under the fence.
The estate has plenty of land to explore, we cycled it daily. They have a lovely stream and seating areas throughout as well as a big fishing lake!
The only niggles we had, were the flies (understandable as it's a working farm) and lack of cupboard space for food etc. The WiFi would come and go but wasn't too much of a problem.
The wooladon estate is in a great location to go off and explore Devon and Cornwall. We would highly recommend this place.

The Rookery is a spacious cottage set on a lovely country estate alongside three other cottages and a country house. Just off the A30 yet completely secluded in its own grounds. Ideal base for exploring both counties of Devon & Cornwall. Milk and biscuits on our arrival, plus a free breakfast and afternoon tea at the hosts' farm shop! (Just around the corner!) Fantastic walks around the estate. Large garden area and fields to play in. Great for dog owners. A private fishing lake too. Very friendly and welcoming hosts in Adam & Laura. We asked for extra hangers, pint glasses and baking trays and these were delivered swiftly. Also replaced a faulty toaster on same day (thank you, Stephen!). Nice country decor and paintings, although in need of a touch up in a couple places. The two downstairs bedrooms have a double bed and a sofa bed so they can sleep 8, plus another two in a double room upstairs. Our bed linen and towels were changed after the first week too. The storage in the kitchen for food for a two week stay is limited as all of the cupboards are taken up with crockery etc; a couple of wall units and a larger fridge would resolve this. Storage in the bedrooms is also limited; only one bedroom had a chest of drawers and the two downstairs bedrooms share a wardrobe - albeit a large one - underneath the open staircase. Each bedroom would benefit from a chest of drawers - especially for those guests staying for two weeks or for multiple families who would struggle to share a wardrobe. Problems with WIFI throughout our two week stay; hosts repeatedly tried to resolve this for us during our stay and are keen to improve the WIFI for future guests. Overall, a fantastic two weeks with plenty of sunshine thrown in. Would definitely recommend.
