Escape to Devon’s south coast with a stay at the beautiful one-bedroom second floor apartment, set right on Paignton’s seafront in the heart of Torbay. The perfect combination of luxury and position, Turtle Beach has been designed with couples in mind and includes a fantastic master bedroom and an open plan living area while being just a stone’s throw from Paignton’s seafront, harbour and town.

Furnished with a double bed and completed with a picture window and seating, the master bedroom is a spacious sanctuary with wonderful sea views, where lazy morning lie ins are the order of the day, and breakfasts in bed, a must.
The sleek kitchen is well-equipped with a range of appliances and utensils to provide guests with all they’d need to prepare a delicious home cooked meal or two, while the dining nook and living room create a sumptuously sociable space to relax and unwind in after a day of exploring the area many attractions and beaches.

Good but let down by a few shortfalls

The property has a fantastic view located right on the promenade near all amenities .
The internal decorations were fresh and well presented.

However the experience overall was marred by a few issues.
1 Fridge door shelf was broken ,as reported in a previous review, making it impossible to store milk in it.
2 Heating was uncontrollable and over warm.
3 Bed was very cheap and very uncomfortable.
4 Shower fitting was broken requiring it to be held whilst showering.
5 Bathroom sink was so small it was almost impossible to use .
6 No corkscrew was provided.
Not really an issue but a welcome pack would not have gone a miss.

Although the above problems individually were minor collectively they did take the edge off our stay and left us with the feeling that the property lacked any regular maintenance or TLC.
As our stay was only a few days I was unwilling to spend any of my precious time reporting these issues.

We were delighted in most respects with the accommodation; the furnishings were clean, new, good quality and well-thought-out. We are also very grateful that a second set of keys was provided for the benefit of my handicapped wife.

One thing we very much disliked was the tiny washbasin, where it was quite awkward even washing your hands under the taps. I took to cleaning my teeth over the kitchen sink, which was large enough to catch the drips, but unfortunately the sink lacked a mirror for wet shaving. There were a few other issues; we couldn’t stand 2 or 4 pint milk bottles upright in the fridge, perhaps because the lower support for the door shelf was broken, and plastic milk bottles seem to leak once opened initially. Also there was no wire rack so we weren’t able to use the grill, and we would have appreciated instructions for the microwave.

The view over the bay was superb, although unfortunately noisy motorbikes seemed to run up and down Esplanade Road late into the night.

It was disconcerting that we had to leave home before we were given the key code, or had a second set of keys confirmed, particularly as Luxury Coastal had given us a mobile number from which we got no reply and a non-working landline number for Sunnybeach Apartments, while the key code was sent to us at 3:00 pm, as promised, but from a different number.
