Set on one of the most popular creeks on the South Cornwall coastline, Feock is a small village on the Fal Estuary which feels hidden away but is brilliantly positioned for enjoying the area's popular activities like boating and walking.

Attached to the working boatyard next door, this one-of-a-kind home is owned by a family with a passion for sailing, evident throughout its interiors where reclaimed nautical items has been reworked into pieces that are both attractive and practical for everyday use. Solid chestnut flooring, bespoke joinery and cabinetry, and historic elements like a lintel above the fireplace made from the keelson of the Brixham sailing trawler Pilgrim (circa 1895), add a special quality to the property's atmosphere.

There are four upstairs bedrooms, and a terrific open plan ground floor lounge/ kitchen/ dining area with glass doors opening on to a large garden where there's plenty of lawn for playing games or simply unwinding in the sunshine. A rustic dining table sits under a pergola built from old boat masts, and is strung with festoon lights that create a magical atmosphere on summery evenings. There's also a firepit with grill attachment (crafted by the neighbouring boatyard's specialist metal worker), which can be used for barbecues or toasting marshmallows.

The upper floor of the house has a gallery-style landing where an antique grandfather clock, which has been in the family for over 300 years, stands proud. The gallery overlooks the downstairs living area and garden giving the space a light-filled, architectural feel.

The kitchen flaunts a big double electric Aga with induction hob, an American-style Aga fridge/freezer, ceramic sink, and two salvaged, refurbished units which create an island with storage. The bathrooms are tasteful, with lovely, tiled accents – one is en suite to the main bedroom, and one has a roll top bath and separate shower. There’s a super king size bed with walk-in wardrobe in the master bedroom while the other three rooms consist of a king, a double, and a twin room which is specifically tailored for children; however, adults can use this room too.

For holidays here in the cooler months, there's indoor entertainment with table tennis, a big TV and beanbags in the separate games room, while a roaring wood burner in the open plan living areas keeps things cosy and comfortable.

For boating enthusiasts, the property offers a pontoon mooring and paddle boards and kayaks can be launched just steps from the house. Nearby walks wind through woodland, past boatyards and across tidal creeks. Trelissick Gardens and the King Harry Ferry are close, offering easy access to the Roseland Peninsula and its sandy beaches, while Falmouth and Truro are both within 20 minutes’ drive.

A private mooring is provided for guests with small ‘trailer sailer’ type boats. The Butler & Co. boatyard next door is able to offer a launch service but this would need to be privately arranged by guests and will be subject to the boatyard’s fees

Please note that the property is right next to a working boatyard which operates every Monday to Thursday between the hours of 7:30am to 6:00pm

My family and I spent a week in the beautiful Master Shipwrights House in February time. The house itself is finished to a beautiful standard and we were able to use the kitchen facilities to make large meals for the family. We particularly enjoyed the way there are places to do different activities - dining table for a puzzle, warm cozy sofas by the fire for reading and a play room with a TV. The house is beautifully furnished and the time spent on the details of the house give it a real character and uniqueness. It is in a good location to go out and do activities including for example visiting Truro, the local Seal Sanctuary, Lappa Valley children's activity park and Trelissick House and Gardens to name a few. I would definitely stay there again in future and recommend it to friends.

We had a brilliant stay at Master Shipwrights. The photos on the website don’t do the house justice. You can tell this house was built by a shipwright. The carpentry and detailing in the house is superb. It’s great house for families or groups. There is space for everyone but still retains a cosy coastal hide away feel. Great location near Truro and Falmouth and lots of lovely walks straight from the front door. Highly recommend! We’ll be back.
