We thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night break in the heart of Northumberland and would like to thank Charles and Dee for their warm welcome and wonderful hospitality. The Hayloft is beautifully designed and perfect for 2 people ( and Dog) and the walks around the farm are a real treat.

We needed a few days away and when we saw The Hayloft knew it was what we were looking for and it didn’t disappoint. The Hayloft had everything we needed for a relaxing break and is perfectly located for exploring both North Tynedale and Hadrians Wall locations such as Vindolanda and Housteads. I would definitely recommend The Hayloft for anyone wanting a peaceful place to stay.

We had a lovely time staying at the Hayloft. It's just as cosy and welcoming as it looks on the photos - the bed was a little soft for us but everything was perfectly clean with quality bedding, towels and accommodation. Dee and Charles are very friendly and warm and hit just the right balance between being on hand for help or information and leaving you to allow you to enjoy your holiday in peace. The area is beautiful and there is lots to see and do. We visited Hexham and Corbridge which are both historic towns with lots of lovely bars, cafes and shops and, of course, friendly Northumbrians. We particularly enjoyed our "awayday" at Tyne Green Parkrun which we've recommended to our running club friends.

Barely any distance down the road from Newcastle but worlds away. If you are looking for peace and quiet, fresh air, big skies and glorious countryside, the Hayloft is the ideal escape-from-it-all bolt hole. The only creatures you are likely to meet apart from your welcoming hosts are sheep. Lots of great walks from the door. A treat to return from a day’s exploring to warm, comfortable and stylish surroundings. And if you don’t feel like cooking, plenty of places to eat a short drive away.

This was our fourth stay at Southlands farm cottages and every time it has been great. Dee and Charles are so friendly and helpful, and the cottages are always very clean and comfortable with everything you need for a few nights or a week. The area is perfect for exploring the region including Hadrian's Wall, countryside walks, going into Corbridge or Newcastle or to the coast. We love staying here and will come back again soon. Highly recommended.

What a marvellous retreat from the world. The farmlands are magnificent and the Hayloft a beautiful little hideaway. Would definitely recommend.

We booked all 5 cottages for a family birthday celebration weekend.
All cottages were lovely & comfortable, and beautifully presented, whilst the grounds were perfect for lively dogs!
Dee & Charles were the perfect hosts - there if we needed anything but not obtrusive.
A wonderful weekend was had by all!

We had the perfect stay at the Hayloft. It was spotless, extremely comfortable, and spacious. It is located in a beautiful village,.populated by myriads of birds, with plenty of amazing walks right outside the door, and a short drive for the Cheviots and Hadrian's wall.
